I think Mirabelli should come in and calm the situation down and sit with Percassi to discuss the transfer. Conti's agent should shut up now, he already has a deal with his player for Milan. The rest is between the two clubs.

Forsberg likes our project

I am skeptical about this player. 8 goals 22 assists in a Bundesliga season is impressive but his passing rate is only 76.2%
I'm amazed anyone seriously wants Ibra back. He tore a cruciate ligament at the age of 35. I get he's a freak of an athlete, but it would be near insane to bring him back as part of the rebuilding project. Then of course there's Raiola. My view is unequivocally NO to Ibra returning, it's a terrible idea.

I like the link to Forsberg, it seems he's the most likely alternative to Keita, an interesting choice imo and one that would mean reconsidering how the team is set up next season (obviously with him having different qualities to Keita). He's also shown enthusiasm for the interest, which leaves me happier:

It's not going to happen, but I wouldn't be against trying to lure both him and Naby Keita as well Tongue

As for the rest, things seem insane. I'd leave the Keita proposal as is for now, let Lazio and him have their war, it doesn't really involve us. I'd be satisfied with Biglia, but if Lazio won't relent on 25m and Krychowiak is available for the prices rumoured, then in all honesty I'd be pretty happy getting the Polish player (who barring his time at PSG has been excellent for years). With the situation as is, I think we just need to sit and wait to see what happens over the next few days, in the meantime looking to secure alternatives as mentioned above.

On Belotti, Cairo's seems to be playing hardball with him. Something's got to give eventually though, as I can't see anyone paying the asking price. I'd be very interested in seeing what happens when Belotti returns from International duty, as things might just heat up given the teams after him. If it's still proving difficult, then we start looking elsewhere until Cairo starts being more reasonable.

It's also rumoured we're instead looking at Kalinic and Andre Silva.

http://www.football-italia.net/103924/mi...ndre-silva

tbh, I'm not that keen on Kalinic, but think Andre Silva has a bright future ahead of him, so wouldn't be totally against this deal.

On Conti, I agree to an extent with Arildonardo that Mirabelli should probably look to get in touch with Percassi and look to avoid a breakdown in their relationship with us. However, I would expect he would avoid getting in the middle of Percassi and Conti's agent and instead let it play out, it only serves to put them in a weakened position and getting involved there could actually compromise our position. However, I also think Percassi is talking BS to try and get as much money out of the deal as possible, seeing as simply put there's no way a meeting with Conti's agent would be allowed to be known publicly if Atalanta didn't approve the negotiations. I would like to see us try to include counterparts to the deal, maybe Bertolacci or Vangioni. Bertolacci likes Gasperini, but I also think Vangioni's a viable option as he could work well in Gasperini's set up as an alternative to Spinnazola.

Finally, rumours are Deulofeu wants to stay and we're interested in Sansone. I see us looking to maybe get one or the other, but not both. Rumours were Sansone is seen as an alternative to Keita, but I think both are actually looked as players to add depth to the squad. Both would be good coming off the bench.

tbh, with clubs knowing we're prepared to spend, they've taken to making unreasonable demands, hence the deals for Biglia, Conti and Belotti hitting the snags they have. However, we're not in a position where we need to bend over backwards for players, and if they know that we're prepared to move on, they should hopefully relent and negotiate more reasonable prices. So far Fassone and Mirabelli have worked superbly, but now is a really challenging period, I'm looking forward to seeing what results they come out with.
On TMW, there is a report suggesting Kalinic isn't a replacement for any of the other targets. He could be bought and we should still be after Belotti or one of the other guys then. That probably means, if true, we're selling both Bacca and Lapadula.

I see a little problem in our mercato : we are going to change 80% of the team ! I know we need to do it because we lack quality, but we also need to keep some players because having a totally new team will take months before it works and we start to play like a real team.
As for Kalinic and Silva, I think we are playing games with Cairo, while maintaining them as backups. Cairo won;t hold out on Belotti. It is too much of a risk. Even if Beloit has a decent season next time around, his value goes down and Cairo knows that. He knows Torino is a selling club and I don't think Beloit will stay at Torino much longer. Cairo will cash in sooner or later.

To be honest, I don't see too big of a problem with that.
PSG, Man City and even Chelsea did that when their new money came in too.
Results for those clubs in the first year were alright, but the success for them all took several years to register. There was a pattern though:

- Chelsea's first year signings numbered 14 players, and they still finished second only. It wasn't until after they completely revamped the squad in the second year (bringing in another 9 players) that things really took off for them.

- PSG brought in 8 players in their first new summer mercato, and a further 3 in their winter one back in 2011. They ended the year in second to Montpelier. They brought in Ibra and Thiago Silva (and two more players) during that second summer mercato and the last few years are history.

- Man City's takeover was in late August of 2008, and they only brought in 3 players that summer, with a further 4 players in January. They took two years just to win the FA Cup and ended their first two years in 10th and 5th place respectively. They didn't win their first title until 2011-12.

If we go by history, does it not seem that the larger revamps of the teams yielded faster return to success?

We're currently at that year 0 point.
I know with all the signings and boosts in quality we're expecting immediate dividends, but to be honest, even after this mercato, I don't believe we will be a finished article. The fact that we're already thinking of bringing in one or two quality signings right now already shows management's intentions of speeding up our return to the top.

I trust that Montella and our management know what they are doing though, so if we can mesh our team with the right pieces as soon as possible, any further additions will be used to enhance our quality further.

I agree.
He also publically stated that if he waits until July/August the big clubs will have already secured their big signings and wont come around anymore. Belotti will probably be sold this month, I don't doubt it really.

New reports are linking us with possibly bringing back Ibrahimovic on a free transfer, whereas other reports state he may go to MLS.
Would you guys want him back?
He has long term injury, I can see him being invited to train at milanello to keep fit and then decide for himself. If he was to be healthy September 1 I would give him a 1 year contract but it looks like earliest is January.
No Ibra for me. I don't want to take up on any more Raiola clients. Let him go retire somewhere else. We don't need to be a one man show anymore. Just build a team of players that complement each other and we'll be fine.
No Ibra for me.

We will (likely) have such team:

---------------------CF-----------------------
---Forsberg----------------------Suso------
--------Donna-------------Kessie-----------
-------------------Biglia----------------------
---Rodri---------------------------Conti-----

If CF is Bacca, I believe he can score 17 goals like Ibra last year at MU. And Bacca did score 18 one season back with a much weaker Milan.

I'd rather make peace with Bacca than paying 300,000 pounds a week for Ibra.

And there are many other NO reasons...
