I will bet you it will overpass last year mark

The fans really need to support the club this year. We all wanted investments and the management responded. If we don't average at least 55k fans (without the Inter and Juventus games) this season, than we must have some horrible fans in Milano. I know that I will try and get myself there for one game this season.

@Aficio...I've noticed you mentioning Bonucci as a DMC a few times. I see your point, but I just don't see that happening. I don't think Montella will ever do that, and to be honest I don't think he should either. Has Bonucci ever played there? I can't remember ever seeing him in that role. I also wouldn't trust him there. Picking out a pass when you are always facing the opposition goal is one thing....but being mobile in front of the defence, with pressure coming from all 4 sides, handling the ball in all sorts of angles, needing to turn with it and scope out different options quickly, etc...is a totally different thing.

Whoever wrote this piece must be an idiot.
The 75M losses from last years balance sheet was wiped out when we were bought out by the Chinese. We start this current era at zero losses and debt owing to Elliot and other people who loaned the club money.

That loss amount reported last year was a net balance of revenues less wages, expenses and overheads. Reported salaries for all first team players together (not just the new ones we bought) amount to around 115M (still lower than Juve), which is around a 30M increase on the previous year. So if we're talking about the difference between this year and last year it would bump net losses from 75M to around 105M.

HOWEVER, last year's season ticket sales were absolute dogshit, around 16 to 18K sold. I can't imagine, considering we aren't raising prices this year, that with all the hype we're getting that we won't get double that amount for the coming year. That in itself will raise revenues and decrease the losses. NOT to mention shirt sales for 9 or more of our new players will obviously bring in more funds.

Also, our new Milan are signing a lot of contracts with the Chinese during our tour right now. Do you think those contracts are worth nothing? We're getting paid for allowing China to start funds and schools using our brand name. That is a huge source of inocme right there. Probably enough to wipe off any expenses incurred for the year.

Our management have already done all the maths. They're trying to list Milan on the Asian stock market. An IPO like that would rake in a ton of cash. But that's actually besides the point, why? Because all the plans that management have already have accounted for contingencies as well. An interview a few months back had Fassobelli openly admitting that we had the resources to deal with not making the CL for two years straight before things got bad. I doubt they would joke about things like this.

Merda and Ladri fans can wish ill on us however they want, but management has a plan to make the club not only competitive, but also profitable as well. All the contingencies are in place as well. China mean business here, and they are very, very good at doing business.

If Pepe played DMC against Barcelona, I think Bonucci is even more likely. Not concrete option, but ok for situational option.
Ryo, very well written post. I won't pretend I'm particularly clued up on the financial situation, I haven't been following it too closely of late, but certainly you raise some important points there.

Aficio, I disagree we were desperate with Donnarumma, we had Diego Lopez injured, but we still had Abbiati on the bench. Mihajlovic took a chance with the youngster and we haven't looked back since. With Locatelli, again I don't think it was desperation. I say that because even prior to Montolivo's injury, Locatelli was already getting frequent minutes at the end of matches. Montella always had the choice of Sosa or Poli too, so it wasn't that there was only Locatelli to choose.

On competition, Biglia is a starter yes, but I don't think Bonucci is considered an option for regista (nor do I think he should be). On Montolivo and Sosa, again I think Montella has to give some justification on why these guys would be ahead of Locatelli in the pecking order. Experience is fine, but only if the performance justifies it. Neither Montolivo or Sosa have performed, that's why Montella faced so much criticism from many fans towards the back end of the season last year for leaving Locatelli on the bench for these guys.

I'm not sure what you're saying about Locatelli's capability of starting against smaller Serie A sides. He's got the capability, he already showed that last year. He's also got the capability of starting against top sides, like he did vs Juve, Roma and Inter last season. He didn't look out of place at any point and as we all know, he scored the winner vs Juve in Serie A.

That's the thing, he's got over a full season under his belt in Serie A and he played consistently at Milan who ended 6th in the league. If he had only a handful of appearances last year, maybe Serie B makes sense, but for a guy who's already had the chance to play with some regularity at the top level, it doesn't make sense to go to a lower league. There's really only a handful of teams where he can't fight for a starting spot in Serie A. At teams like Atalanta, Sassuolo or Torino he'd have a good (or very good) chance of starting. He could even go to a team like Bologna or SPAL where he'd be almost a guaranteed starter.

I think we're going to have to agree to disagree about Locatelli, but I think we can agree we both want to keep him and hope he'll go on to star for Milan Smile
@Dev: I think I am the pessimistic guy here Big Grin

Regarding FFP: I think there are a lot of Inter fans who suddently become finance specialists when witnessing our errand. Big Grin

Good for them Big Grin
I really hope we don't go for Morata. I think he's very similar with Andre Silva. He costs too much ( 70 or 80m) and he doesn't score 25 goals a season. For that amount of cash i should really go for Belotti. He's a young Italian proven goal scorer.

Morata doesn't score enough for a forward so why does he cost so much? I am not impressed to be frank. Auba and Belotti are the only one worth buying for this kind of money. We are buying a target man.

When they say their RB is way better than Conti, I can only laugh at their stupidity. No wonder Inter always suck even after spending so much money on transfers.
Quote:Massimiliano Mirabelli says Milan are going “our way” as the club “have a duty” to scout for players and not rely on “gossip”.
Mirabelli has made a telling impression since being appointed sporting director by Milan’s owners, bringing in 10 new players at a cost of over €200m.
“Mine was a brave decision [to leave Inter without a guaranteed salary at Milan], but then then our positive talks gave me reason,” he told Premium Sport.
“When the opportunity of doing what I’d been doing at AC Milan, I didn’t think twice and I agreed to run a great deal of risk.
“I didn’t enjoy the months of ‘closing’. If the fans didn’t then imagine us being the phantom protagonists of this famous ‘closing’.
“It wasn’t easy, we had to continue working, going around the world knowing that we were being watched with suspicion.
“There was no certainty, we couldn’t speak on Milan’s part. The nine months felt so long.
“Harder here or at Cosenza? They are naturally different responsibilities, the difference is what makes it appealing, but I’ve never thought about changing my way of doing things and who I am.
“I’ve had to remain myself, knowing that today I represent one of the most successful clubs in the world.
“Paying my dues has served me so well, I’ve always earned my way, no-one has given anything. I won all the Leagues, from the amateurs to Serie B.
“I don’t feel unprepared but rather a master of the role. I’ll make mistakes like everyone else, but I know what I’m talking about and how I do it on a daily basis.
“Milan? We needed to make an impression, to open a good cycle with a group of players.
“Yet Milan, like any other team, have a duty to believe in scouting because then we have to deal players for millions of euros.
“We must know players, not sign them via gossip like it happens at so many other clubs.
“In this scouting project, we’ll have many people working within it, from the first team to the youth sector: it’s ‘our’ way.
“We’re relying on some people to get these players at favourable prices. We had in mind what we had to do, without word of mouth.
“We considered and programmed things quietly and then got down to business like you’ve seen.”

I am liking this new management more and more. Esp the bit about scouting and signing players.
