I rembemer Auba was touted as new Henry in a U17 tournament for clubs. He scored 4 or 5 goals there.

That's how I remember him, being the top scorer in some youth tournament. It's more than 4-5 goals if I remember correctly, it's a very impressive figure compared to the rest.
Auba's case is weird.

He is the world fastest forward now. But how could we not recognize that speed earlier. I doubt we let him go that easily knowing the data.

I don't remember a super fast forward that was not discovered at young age.

Sprinters like Ursan Bolt are also discovered early.

Being fast doesn't mean you can score. Aubameyang was never given a chance at Milan, he was shipped out on loan hoping that he will prove himself but he failed to do so even when given a lot of playing time.

I hope that Cutrone get a chance to prove himself.

I mean what happend if the football world know about a young player possesses the speed of Michael Owen? I bet there are many clubs will approach him.

I think Milan knew he was fast, but not as fast as he is to day. He is now known as the best sprinter among footballers, and that data was estabilished in 2013 when he was 24 (if wiki cited the source correctly).

It is weird because we can measure his physical ability until 2011 when he was 22. We could offer him to many English clubs with only speed data. And it was not that he couldn't score.

I don't remember any data before 2013 about his tremendous speed.

Since I can't access to clubs' database, let's use Football Manager.

This is Football Manager 2013, for 12/13 season:
http://footballmanagerstory.com/scout/fm...ubameyang/
His speed: acceleration 18/20 and pace (top speed) 16/20

In Football Manager 2014, for 13/14 season:
http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/63532/t1...iscussion/
His speed: acceleration 20/20 and pace (top speed) 17/20
Quite close to now (19/20 and 19/20)

But earlier in Football Manager 2010, for 10/11 season:
http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/football-...eyang.html
The numbers are 14/20 and 17/20, but that for him at 28 (he was only 21 in 2010), when he was fully developed according to the game, so his numbers must be smaller when he was 21.

Football Manager is normally not wrong for such basic data such as speed, and even if they are wrong, how could Milan be wrong about his speed.

The only answer is his speed has increased greeatly at the age from 22 to 24, which is very... interesting.

I am sorry if you don't play Football Manager, but I think you could get it  Okmilan

That's interesting but ... I don't get your point ! Big Grin
You can be the fastest guy in the world, but if you donwt or can't use your speed while on the pitch, this date is no use.
They sold Aubameyang because there was too much in front of him

Pato - 16 goals
Zlatan - 21 goals
Robinho - 15 goals

Looking back, you can say a wrong decision was made, but at the time they didn't think so and won the league that year

But we should at least know about his speed.

If he can run 30 metres in 3.7 seconds in 2013 (24 years old), how could we not know about that in 2011 (22 years old)?

We can sell him to an English club with much more money in 2011 with that number. They love fast players.
What do you mean we didn't know about his speed? I am sure we did. Milan tests these physical attributes in their plsyers every year, multiple times a year. So we knew how fast he was. But speed doesn't make a football player, otherwise Usain Bolt would be a top CF right now. You need to know how to use it, how to make runs, where to make runs. The timing of your runs relative to the passer, the angle of your runs relative to where the ball is and where the pass will be made, create separation from your mark, etc, etc, etc. AND, when you finally know how to use that speed, now you need to be able to play with the ball, to control it at that speed, to find the right angles to finish and score, to actually finish with calmness, etc, etc.

You get my point. Speed is great, but there are many other players with great pace and they are not great footballers. I don't think English scouts are idiots to just pay big money because there was a player in Milan that could run 30 meters in record speeds or something.

I know speed is not everything. I only question the correctness of data Milan got and the information we fans received.

When Aubameyang was sold, we only know a forward was sold, not a fast forward or fastest forward.

I doubt any of us know about that.

I am just curious about the lack of information.

And I don't think the English clubs are dumb, but they have much more money than St. Etienne.

Well, actually, don't take it bad, no offence, but who really cares about that ?
I mean, when he was sold, we knew he didn't make it to our first team, fast or not, what does that change ?
They probably knew he was fast, but they also probably thought he couldn't become a good or great player for us. Many years later, we could easily say they were wrong, but I think he would never have reached this level by staying in Milan.
