The way you talk about Neymar (everyone) is the very reason I wanted this transfer to happen in the first place. I believe Neymar has tremendous potential and is easily top 5 at the moment but it is so hard to rate him when Barcelona forces him to play in a way that kind of limits him. It is therefore interesting to see what hell do if he gets to carry a team and be the star player. He still has to reach his best years in my opinion and it's now or never for him.

Step out of the shadows and see if he is the real deal that most people make him out to be, and convert the non-believes who say he is not top 3 ( I don't think he is either, but I can't even agree on who is first or second because Messi and cr7 are equal)

Barca is the winner in this
@Matias....I don't blame Neymar for leaving. It was definitely the right choice. He had to get away from Messi at some point. All the money he will make is also not easy to turn down. He is going somewhere where HE will be the main star.

As you said, now it's up to him to prove the hype.

The biggest problem for him is that he WILL be judged on the CL and ONLY the CL. Nobody cares about the French League. He can score 50 goals there and nobody will put him on the same line as for example Messi or Ronaldo UNTIL he wins the CL. Scoring for fun in France will mean nothing and prove nothing if they are dumped at the quarter finals again.

We'll see. Again, in the sporting sense...this is a dumb move. They could have made their team a lot stronger with several "smaller" purchases rather than spending that much money on one player who still has a lot to prove.

As AC_Troy said.....Barcelona is the winner in all of this.
The sheer number of players they have to sell just because of FFP (which I still don't expect will punish any big team severely) makes it not worthwhile for PSG ....in my opinion of course.
Great mercato by Barca, that 222M can be invested in many departments, as for Neymar, he needs to win CL for PSG since thats the only trophy missing from the cabinet, that way he can be remembered for long time. Not so easy though, we shall see.

Curious what UEFA would comment about this transfer with regards to the mythical FPP.haha

I read somewhere there is buy back option.
De Santis was considered to be one of the best CBs in the youth system for a long time. I remember Dev bringing up his name several times.
Did a quick search... a brought up quite a few links. About a couple said there was no buyback... a couple said that there was... the rest didn't mention anything.
I'm curious to see who Barcelona will buy. They need to replace both Neymar and Iniesta (aging & injuries).
With Neymar to PSG I'm almost certain Lucas/Di Maria will be on their way out. I'd take both of them.
Like a lot of you have said, I'm surprised he chose PSG. Their league is essentially irrelevant to a lot of outside football fans & winning the CL seems a stretch. The funniest thing would be if they sold Verratti. Rumors say they may get rid of him to satisfy FFP regulations (big player in, big player out) with Verratti also wanting to leave apparently. If they think for a second that Neymar will have more impact than Verratti they made a terrible mistake. It's a step sideways, only it'll have cost them over 100m because I don't see any club crazy enough to pay over 120 for Verratti. I'd take Verratti over Neymar any day. Very few creative mids like him around that aren't 30+ at the moment. A lot of talented wingers - Di Maria for example, someone they already have... You can argue he's not as good as Neymar but he's still a world class player.

With all due respect, his entertainment factor is immense but he only scored 13 goals last season... For a winger worth 222m you'd think he'd be scoring minimum 25-30 goals per season. After all, Messi, Ronaldo both played out wide. Even Hazard scored 16 goals, Alexis 24+ goals...

It never made any sense to me that Di Maria was sold by Madrid, ManU and now probably PSG as well. When Madrid finally won the CL, Di Maria was integral - almost every important goal scored was either from his assist or created in some way by him.

@ManU he was stand out every single time he played.

@PSG he's miles ahead of everyone else, yet still sometimes isn't a starter.

None of it makes sense IMO, they must see something I do not.
Rumors say he'll be on his way to Barca. Looks like their dominant generation is coming to a fast close. They haven't been performing their best in the last couple years, & Messi seems in decline too. Players they've bought to replace the likes of Xavi & Iniesta have far from worked out so far, and their youth team is struggling to generate the same amount of talent as they used to with a lot of them not becoming all they were hyped to be. (Deulofeu, Munir, Sandro, Rafinha etc.)
Biggest mistake they made was selling Thiago IMO. I think they should've given him his playing time.

They'll become the same as any big money club soon. They can buy all the big players they want, but to have what they had was something that took years of work. Buying big names wont recreate that, they'll be competitive sure but nowhere near the previous level.

Football has always come and gone in cycles. It seems like Serie A could be on the brink of becoming one of the top leagues again. If Merda's owners dont give up (they've done very little this market IMO, I know they spent a lot last market but a lot of those players were flops.. Kondogbia, Jao Mario look so average), and Juve continue on their path, Roma/Napoli continue being competitive as they are, along with us returning to our former glory we will have a very entertaining & competitive league.

I know our mgmt is taking their time now since most of the squad is completed, but the recent names don't really excite me as much as Fassone's words have. He made our new signing for attack sound like it would be colossal. The only players I'd consider massive that we've been even semi-linked to are Alexis Sanchez & Aubameyang. Diego Costa would be a slight notch under - he's world class but his attitude concerns me. When players become uninterested like that their careers usually go downhill + he clearly stated he wants Atletico (doesn't mean that much, but still). My fear with signing him is that I don't know if he'll be 'hungry' enough. If he is, then he's always one of the best strikers in the world without question the best in Serie A.
