It never made any sense to me that Di Maria was sold by Madrid, ManU and now probably PSG as well. When Madrid finally won the CL, Di Maria was integral - almost every important goal scored was either from his assist or created in some way by him.

@ManU he was stand out every single time he played.

@PSG he's miles ahead of everyone else, yet still sometimes isn't a starter.

None of it makes sense IMO, they must see something I do not.
Rumors say he'll be on his way to Barca. Looks like their dominant generation is coming to a fast close. They haven't been performing their best in the last couple years, & Messi seems in decline too. Players they've bought to replace the likes of Xavi & Iniesta have far from worked out so far, and their youth team is struggling to generate the same amount of talent as they used to with a lot of them not becoming all they were hyped to be. (Deulofeu, Munir, Sandro, Rafinha etc.)
Biggest mistake they made was selling Thiago IMO. I think they should've given him his playing time.

They'll become the same as any big money club soon. They can buy all the big players they want, but to have what they had was something that took years of work. Buying big names wont recreate that, they'll be competitive sure but nowhere near the previous level.

Football has always come and gone in cycles. It seems like Serie A could be on the brink of becoming one of the top leagues again. If Merda's owners dont give up (they've done very little this market IMO, I know they spent a lot last market but a lot of those players were flops.. Kondogbia, Jao Mario look so average), and Juve continue on their path, Roma/Napoli continue being competitive as they are, along with us returning to our former glory we will have a very entertaining & competitive league.

I know our mgmt is taking their time now since most of the squad is completed, but the recent names don't really excite me as much as Fassone's words have. He made our new signing for attack sound like it would be colossal. The only players I'd consider massive that we've been even semi-linked to are Alexis Sanchez & Aubameyang. Diego Costa would be a slight notch under - he's world class but his attitude concerns me. When players become uninterested like that their careers usually go downhill + he clearly stated he wants Atletico (doesn't mean that much, but still). My fear with signing him is that I don't know if he'll be 'hungry' enough. If he is, then he's always one of the best strikers in the world without question the best in Serie A.

Dimaria was good probably 3 years ago. He was a big flopa t united and at PSG also. Sure he had some good moments there but then he would be disappointing for next 10 games. That is why united offloaded him the next season. And also why Psg would be going to offload him very soon.
In his defence, he was forced to play in the middle for a large part of his time at United. He's clearly a winger but was expected to carry his midfield so he "flopped" in their eyes and got sold off to someone who was actually going to use him as a winger.
Di Maria's issue, in my opinion, has always been consistency... On his ON day he's amazing but when it's not working he seems lost on the park... It's something I saw back when he was at Benfica and it was something I continued to see all the way until he went to PSG...
Di Maria is already 29 and seems not hungry anymore.

Moura is a nice option for the wing if we can get him for 40M.

However, the most likely player from PSG is Krychowiak, IMO.

Di Maria has indeed been the laziest player on Earth for 2-3 seasons in a row. He will be good this season though, World Cup year ... But not in Milan, thanks ! Ahah
Lucas Moura is really not the kind of player we need, way too overrated.
Krychowiak is set for Valencia from the rumours in France.
There is another option for Diego Costa: a full year loan, in order to make WC squad easier.

It could satisfy all of us Big Grin

i think if he was that good he would be playing in the first team like donna, locatelli + cutrone. or at least being signed by serie a clubs with a buy-back option like vido and felicioli. the fact he's been signed by ascoli in serie b and played his football in serie c last season says everything.

anyway, after his market moves this summer, besides borini, i back mirabelli's choices.
read an article saying how f+m have wisely fixed galliani's mess this summer by offloading deadwood and making shrewd signings. they've signed a bunch of quality youngsters (conti, kessie, calhanoglu, silva) as well as experienced leaders (bonucci, musacchio, biglia). musacchio was villareal's captain as was biglia at lazio. bonucci was the man juve wanted to be captain. also, bonucci and biglia are proven winners. bonucci has won practically everything with juve and reach cl finals whereas biglia won everything domestically with anderlecht, reached the world cup and numbers copa america finals with argentina and a couple coppa italia finals with lazio. musacchio also captained villareal who had la liga's second best defence last season.

that's why we need to jump on somebody like diego costa at the first chance. like him or not, the guys a top player who's won practically everything at atletico and chelsea. we need these kind of proven winners in the team to win the respect of youngsters like donna and loca so they don't go elsewhere.
also i really like what i'm seeing from cutrone. i thought he took his goals brilliantly against bayern (how many 19yo could be that cold?). also he played great against craivao and was unlucky to hit the post. his link up play is great too. montella said he's grown exponentially since last season and would like to keep him around. i think we'd be nuts not to keep him as a backup ahead of borini. there's plenty of opportunities for him + locatelli to play across 3 competitions. he's going to learn more playing second fiddle to belotti/costa/silva then going to crotone for example.
@donlocatelli......about De Santis

Well I don't know. I can't say that I really watched him play other than the few appearances he had with the senior team during summer friendlies. I am just saying that he was highly regarded.

Regardless, I think you are forgetting that he JUST turned 20. It's not easy to be a CB and it takes most in that position well into their 20s to fully realize their potential. I see no problem that he played in Serie C as most players that are too good for the Primavera when they are 18 and 19 end up playing in the 3rd tier. The fact that he signed for a Serie B team is actually a great sign for someone his age. We'll see how he develops in the future.

Just like everyone, I hope that we are leaving buy-back options in some of these deals. We need to protect ourselves beause it's hard to tell how these players will turn out 2-3-4 years from now.

yeah you're right fair point. we gave away darmian and aubameyang for peanuts and look how they turned out. cb certainly is the most difficult position to master (not everybody hits the ground running like romagnoli). i hope he turns out to be a stud and not another ely/vergara. even if he does turn out to be good, i'm sure he wouldn't have an issue returning to a winning milan team (which is hopefully what we'll be in a few years). if aubameyang seriously wants to return given we finished 6th last season than de santis should too.
