Kondogbia is only now coming into his own, so I will add him to that list. The rest of them, (Biabiany, Jovetic, Melo, Ljajic, Montoya, Telles) are either no longer there because they didn't perform or they haven't seen the field in ages and don't deserve to.

I don't think the way to go is to sign that many players. I would rather sign 3-4 quality starters, and when we introduce them to the team, they basically take the spots of current "starters"...while these "current" starters I am talking about are just relegated to the bench. The current bench players are the ones that need to be sold, plus some others whose time is basically up for one reason or anther.

In other words, Paletta is more than good enough to be a back up or a rotation player, it's just that he is not good enough to be a starter imo. The same goes with Kucka, Antonelli, Bertolacci, Pasalic. The point I am trying to make is we have the back ups already here. What we need is the starters. Whereas Inter seemed to buy everything that summer, starters and back ups....and in all honesty, it was an absolute mess that just recently seems to have been somewhat straightened out.

By the way....welcome to MM. Great discussion...
To be fair Thohir didn't have the kind of money the Chinese are supposed to have. Taking that into acount they signed some pretty good players and just had bad luck with how Kondogbia, Jovetic and even Melo were performing. And they got rid of a lot of deadweight to.

If Mirabelli and Fassone can pull the same thing of for us I'd be very happy. Say we'll sign a experienced top class defender for 20 million, a young and talented midfielder for 30-35 million, A top class Striler dor 50-80 million (really depends on who the striker is going to be) and a left backfor 20 million.

This means that in the worst case scenario we would spend 155 million. With the sales of Bacca, Niang and De Sciglio we should be able to earn 40 million at least, sell players like Honda, Poli, Bertolacci, Kucka, Palleta, Zapata, Montolivo, Vangioni (not all of them offcourse) and get some young players to replace them on the bench. And we would keep 15 million if you would add the 40 million with the initial 130.
Ths would be a very satisfying mercato in my opinion.
(02-13-2017, 06:44 PM)nefremo Wrote: [ -> ]I don't necessarily disagree with anything you are saying. I would also love to get 6-7 new players. I am just afraid that we will not have the budget to bing in 6-7 class players, and we will end up buying just average players again. For this reason, I would rather sign 3-4 class players at 50mil each (for example), rather than 7 players for 20-25 mil each. The difference in quality we would get from a 50mil player compared to a 20mil player can be quite significant if the correct players are pursued. But, having said that, maybe it is possible to get 3-4 class players + 2-3 "up and coming/established" players for cheaper like let's say Kessie/Badelj.

About De Sciglio, I personally would remove him from that untouchable category. I think at this point, even his biggest fans have to start doubting the guy. If he does stay, I would like for him to be a RB permanently as at least, I think his performances will be somewhat better....because he is completely useless on the left side.

About Darmian....he would basically be another De Sciglio. He is not better to be honest. So than we might as well keep De Sciglio. What we really need is a left footed LB that's able to do what Montella wants from the fullbacks......which is play 50-60 meters from our goal consistently to support the attack and provide width in the attacking third...at which point the fullback will also be dangerous in the attacking phases by being able to take a player on, combine with others, get to the byline, whip crosses in, etc. As crazy as it is to say this....currently, Abate is the only fullback that somewhat does this...although poorly. I am hoping that by moving De Sciglio on the right side, he can perhaps do this better than Abate. Calabria is still an unknown.

As a matter of fact, I don't think of Antonelli as a great player...but whenever he is on the field...just because of the fact that he is left footed, he creates so much more danger on the left side by being able to use the overlapping run properly and get to the byline to use his dominant foot. Whereas even if De Sciglio gets there, the end product is more often than not, very disappointing.
i would also love to sign 3-4 50m players but don't see it happening because milan unfortunately isn't a top club anymore. i see us as slightly better than man city/psg/chelsea when they first got taken over. therefore, i think we'll have to sign potential wc players (like romagnoli) then once team results improve and we qualify for cl attract bigger names. unless we sack montella and hire a high profile manager of course.

therefore, like you said, i see us signing a mixture of potential wc players plus a couple of stars. something like this...

1. darmian/vrsaljko 3m (loan fee + 13m option)
2. de vrij 28m (+2m bonus as contract expires 2018)
3. 1 star mid 40m (cesc/isco - contract expires 2018)
4. 1 young potential wc mid 20m (pellegrini/tielemans/dahoud - contract expires 2018)
5. keita 27m (+3m bonus as contract expires 2018)
6. bernardeschi 40m (+5m bonus)

TOTAL 158m

i honestly think this is realistic and would significantly improve our team. if the team can adapt quickly i would give us a good shot of challenging for cl. especially if we strengthened next winter with the rumoured 100m kitty.

re des, although he's been inconsistent i think its down to playing on his wrong side + alongside mediocre teammates. i would like to give him a chance at rb with a significantly improved squad as he always played much better under allegri/italy. also, i think we've got too many other holes to fill to consider replacing him too. maybe if he doesn't perform next season we can let him go. tbh the perfect lb for us would've been rodriguez of wolfsburg but apparently he's going to inter (22m release clause).

I don't mind Darmian. He would be good, but I heard that he is (was?) Inter bound.

thanks! yes i read that too but the links seemed to have cooled off lately. he's also been linked to juve too. i think signing him/vrsaljko on a loan + option deal would be smart business because they cover multiple positions + have serie a experience. it also allows us to spend money filling other holes in our squad. if they don't pan out we can always sign a proper replacement next year.

But why would you play Vrsaljko on lb? Becuase I think he will have the same problems as des. And why would you replace Suso isn´t the money better spend on A replacement for Bacca?

vrasljko is more of an attacking threat on the left than des but i was just looking for a cheap fb solution. both darmian/vrasljko were stars in serie a but have struggled since their moves abroad. i doubt we'd find any better fbs on a cheap loan + option deal.

re suso, i view him as an occasional starter + first choice backup for either of the wing + am positions. if anything happened to berna, isco or keita he'd be the first player i'd field. personally i would sell bacca (20m), niang (15m), lapa (7m) + sosa (5m) and buy belotti.

Man Utd are ridiculously stupid when buying. They always pay heaps more than the player is actually worth. You'd think Galliani was doing business for them half the time...

I seriously doubt he would go for that figure. Aubameyang would be out of reach. They want something stupid like 80mill but Belotti wouldn't be such a bad deal and despite Torino's huffing and puffing, if we came in with a 35mill offer, with Belotti wanting to come, I'm not sure they could say no to that.

I'm with you on this one... I had wanted Darmian at the club but as time goes by I'm thinking more like you... We currently have DES, Abate, Clabria that can play RB... There's no need for Darmian as well...
Antonelli I think does quite well but is definitely not an amazing player... a quality LB for me is a must...
I'm still not for giving up on DES yet. I'm still of the opinion of, if he gets consistent game time(stops getting injured), and a decent Leadership in defence he can yet become the player we need him to be.

3-4 Great players is always better than 6-7 good players... Those 3-4 are game changers, the sort of players that when the team is not performing, get us out of trouble... Look at Bonaventura and Suso for example...

While some look at Inter's 6-7 bought last season as a good thing, I look at it as a bad thing... Look how much money was spent and only a couple actually paid off. Despite Kondogbia performing decent this season, he still hasn't impressed em that much... Inter this season however, took the 3-4 great players route and look at what they're now starting to achieve...
98mill spent last season to finish mid table - 154 spent this season to fight for europe...

We've got a decent core to the team... spend the money to get some ripper players for these spots

DES----Roma----New-----New
-locatelli----New----Bonav---
-Suso------New-----New/Deulofeu

Deulofeu so far has looked impressive. And I definitely think we need to Replace Bacca... Spend Big on a LB, CB, CM, ST, and possibly sign Deulofeu if he continues like this... In the mean time I still think we need to add someone like Tielemans/Kessie to work into the team.

The dump list;
Honda
Mati(send back)
Zapata
Abate(don't need him if we get a good LB)
Sosa(shoulsn't have got him in the first place)
Kucka(would rather Tielemans/Kessie)
Bacca
and undecided about sending Pasalic back or not...

belotti would be a great pickup but i think he'll cost more after signing a contract extension with 100m clause. personally i think he'll cost 40m minimum + 5m bonuses. maybe a deal could be done for 40m + lapa as torino were interested in him before.

Firstly, Welcome!

As for Suso - There is no way I would sell him. and I don't see him as anything but a starter. signing another Rb to play Lb to me seems negligent... Better to sign and average Lb.

All for signing De Vrij - absolutely love that guy!
Not sure I want to take the chance on Cesc.  Isco to me is a great AM but would prefer a great CM instead.
already said I'd love Tielemans/Kessie
Keita would be awesome although I'd see how Deluofeu pans out... So far he's looking really good...
although I'd love Bernadeschi - I'd be spending the $$ on BElotti instead.

They also wanted Kucka - I'd probably send him and $$ their way... I think Lapadulla has more use as a 2nd choice striker than Kucka has as a starter. Don't think he'll be too happy sitting on the bench after the last two seaons. Plus him and Miha are in love with each other.
