To an outsider like me, it seems nobody wants to leave because they have high salaries, for a little work, and no personal responsibility. I expect Montella to roll up his sleeves, not just for fashion, and make them sweat those millions they get paid.

Btw, it's brainstorming. I don't have all the solutions, and I hope many will chime in.
Fair enough. But you cant not mention who it was who bought Paletta Sosa and gave them big contracts.

Agree. In the past few years, the management made catastrophic decisions bordering with criminal activities. Bringing awful characters to the club tainted their legacy. However, if we speak today about Berlu era, let's focus on the great work done in their first 20+ years.
Current management needs to fix the problems, set the groundwork, and improve the future outlook. I hope they'll learn from the past mistakes, and that was the motivation for my original post. Let's help them with constructive comments and actionable ideas.

me too man. They did repeatedly say they'd buy an "absolute top player or two" even after the first 7 or 8 signings. I consider Bonucci a top player but since he was a surprise unplanned move even to the management, it would make sense to assume they have at least one more top player in mind.

Fassone also mentioned that the squad is only missing that 'icing on the cake'. Montella and Han Li both last week said that the club is still trying to do something and will try to reinforce if we can. No one said that the market has closed from Milan, even after the signing of Kalinic.

Don't get me wrong, the transfer market is still a 10/10 by all means and still one of the best transfer windows by any team ever even if we don't sign anyone today. However, if they do not sign that top player today, I'd definitely question their communication strategy. It's been 100x better than the previous management, but what's up with them promising our biggest signing and top player throughout the summer and even in the first press conference when the takeover took place? They can't have lead us on and fed our hopes with such promises only not to achieve it. If they don't sign that top player, fine, no problem, but I want a proper explanation from the management to explain why they decided to change strategy and not do what they've told the fans that they're trying to do repeatedly over the summer.

I am not criticizing how Mirabelli's selected players nor anything to do with the management. I would only criticize one thing - the choice to tell the fans that they'd buy us an absolute top player in his respective position and they didn't. Deciding to announce a live conference video after the mercato is over can also be misleading - why would anyone want to do that? If it was only a recap for our transfer window, it could have been done at any time like when all the Internationals returned from their breaks, but why did they chose for it to be exactly right after the window closes? And why call it the APACF show? Which in all likeliness stands for Adesso Passiamo Alla Cose Formale which means 'And now onto the formal things' which is Fassone's trademark line in every press conference right before a new player signs his contract?

So if we look at all the evidence and clues left behind, we have really been lead to believe that there should be one more big signing today. I really hope that's the case because if the management decided to buy players like Borini, Kalinic and not invest in a starting left winger it would be quite a problem. How can they invest in squad depth before investing in the starting 11? We're playing a 433 every game, we don't have a reliable left winger and we've spent 235m euro so far. It just doesn't add up.

There still is one more day left in the window though so we'll see what they have in store with us. So far, F&M have exceeded our expectations in everything. They have been absolutely sensational in every department of managing AC Milan. They have a perfect track record of the things they've done so far since taking over. This would be the biggest dent if they don't get that signing today but for now, I don't have any reason to doubt them. They've been true to their word in everything they've said and therefore I'm going to be optimistic today about signing that WC player. If however we don't get the signing today, ahh well too bad for us and that'll be the first dent since the new management have taken over.

We'll find out in 14 hours from now.
I found this interesting perspective on a post on another forum I thought I'd share it:

Quote:To sum things up, let's focus on facts:
1. Our president came to Milan few days ago and stays in there only while the mercato is open, he'll be going back to China this week AFAIR;
2. Yesterday there was a meeting of shareholders - pretty unusuall thing in the end of mercato. We don't know any facts regarding what was that meeting all about, but rumour has it that it was about an extra budget for mercato and frankly I can't see any other reason why they gathered on this day and not before or after ending of mercato. The date wasn't random, that's for sure.
3. Giuseppe Riso, who has spent several hours in Casa Milan today on a meeting with Mirabelli, was an intermediary between Milan and Borussia Dortmund in the recent weeks.
4. Milan organised an unusuall event for tomorrow, which is - we sure all agree - about "Adesse Passiamo Alle Cosi Formali" (APACF = the name of this event).

I suppose that it's all about a big transfer coming. Everything fits. What else could it be?
New sponsorship? Yeah, right. But announcing it on the last day of mercato? Really? From marketing point of view it would be suicidal. Whatever we think about recent transfers, whether our hopes are high or low, helding this kind of event on this date must rekindle our hopes for a big transfer - on any position.
Obviously Milan is going to sign a new sponsorship deal in the future - Fassone pretty much acknowledged it. But doing it instead of buying someone special on the last day of the market? It would ruin any good they've done in Milan's marketing. It would make as much impact as Bonucci did - but this time it would be damaging. This would be a bigger flop than this Mr X saga. Even bigger than this hillarious "Inter is coming" marketing campaign.

Some sort of summary of mercato? Yeah, but then announcing it as a mystery the day before wouldn't make any sence.

New signing like Jankto or any other player of his format? Really? Even Bonucci, even Donnarummas renewal didn't have this kind of media buzz and somehow we would do it for an average player with potential? Nah, can't see it coming.

Call me naive, but I'm pretty much sure that we're going to buy someone important.

Therefore: why not Aubameyang?
Does he want to leave BVB? Yes.
Does Milan have money for him? I suppose so, that's what this shareholders meeting was all about.
Do we need him? Yes - he used to play as a winger and he perfectly fits into LW position in Montellas formation. Just take a look how Borino played recently and tell me do you honestly think he wouldn't destroy serie a playing in this spot?

Also: many insiders denied that Jankto was even proposed to Milan. It's bullshit to me. Pedulla heard that Riso came to Casa Milan and chose one name from his clients who would suit to this formation. Nothing more.

Some food for thought
Niang to Torino. Loan with obligation to buy, 20 mil Eur.
"Milan asked us about Jankto, but he’s not for sale."
