Management is so secretive and misleading, and at first glance they look clueless. I hope they have a sporting plan that will yield results, and most important we don’t end up with a huge red on our books.

I don't think they look clueless; on the contrary, it is probably the first time in many years that the management seems to have a clear direction. They want players who are technical, fast, and can hold on to a ball. This is still a big gamble, as it all depends on this particular coach. If he fails, this whole project will go down the crapper too.

It does sadden me to see Cutrone leaving, and I am upset that we can't get rid of other deadwood first. My guess is that if they could, they would. Nothing is perfect, but I am willing to believe that we are on the right direction, and just have to be patient with the management.

It's not like terminating the contract gets you off the hook on the salary you have to pay. Put it this way, if let's say Silva's contract is 3mil per year for the next 3 years...we owe him 9 mil no matter what. We can negotiate with him and bring that down (mutial termination), but i doubt he'd want to give up on his salary so i doubt it.

Ah i see...
So that's why all of these borderline good players are so difficult to get rid off.

I'm starting to think that Fassone Mirabelli were sent as a double agent from merdazionale just to sabotage our projects.
Hence the Donnarumma 6m salary, Borini 2.5m salary, Silva 3m salary....

I think Kessie should stay because under one season with Giampaolo and if the squad makes it to the CL, I can easily see EPL teams splashing 50m for him. I’d give him 2 more years with us and decide to sell him when he’s 24-25. Right now he has enough potential to stay in the squad.

I was a big Suso fan always, but with the changes this summer it’s definitely time for a divorce - as long as it’s on our terms.

And what's with the new "we want no italians in our squad"-strategy?

Very true and that’s what concerns me about the Correa deal. The fees we paid for our 3 players so far seem to be fair prices to gamble with and they’re the right kinda players who could have an upside in the future.

Maldini is ‘the Italian from the youth setup’ that everyone will remember forever. He knows how important that is and he knows what it takes to be a good fit for the squad. It has to be the right Italians. We can’t just go ItalMilan like B+G wanted because that would be s very nostalgic and incompetent decision. We have to look internationally especially because of our financial situation and the need to sell players for a profit like all other top clubs do, but we as Milan we desperately need to start doing this to survive the current FFP rules. Italian players aren’t in as much demand internationally as Argentinian, Spanish or Portugese players for example. We need players that can create plusvalenza - a very important term for Milan for the upcoming years.

Good news is that the journalists truly don’t know a thing of our plans. Whatever is being reported could be very far from the truth.

Such is life, I would have given more heart to play in a Milan jersey than Cutrone but am I good enough? We can’t just keep players because they love the jersey or because fans feel an emotional attachment to them. I am actually very glad we are selling him because it is such a hard decision given all the circumstances and the number of goals he’s scored. I however was always under the opinion that statistics are not everything. They are important but you have to know how to read, understand and analyze using them. Saying the Cutrone had X amount of goals while Correa had Y isn’t a fair comparison. It’s an elementary comparison actually and that’s what Galliani used to do and even compared himself to Moneyball thinking he was a genius for that.

Cutrone lacks so much as a footballer and I was worried we would be blinded by the great bond he has with Milan, the fans and the number of goals he’s scored. If anything, this management shows competency in my book for making such a hard decision in selling Cutrone. I would have much rather preferred losing him than Donnarumma who truly should be indispensable for many reasons.

I wish Cutrone all the best. He was a loyal and good servant here. I hope the deal finalizes to allow Milan to reach newer heights.

Selling Cutrone before Silva and the others doesn’t mean we wanted to get rid of him more.. it means that there is a higher demand for Cutrone. The order of which we sign or sell players is irrelevant. We should only judge at the end of the market.
Agree with Hitman. If we are truly rich, we could reject offers for Cutrone but we all know we need money, have to be careful with FFP and so on. It seems Maldini Co try to give better striker for the coach, at least a player who could offer more than just being a target man like Cutrone.

We need to wait how Kessie develop under new coach who said good at bringing the best out of his players. Not that all players need to be given the chance but Kessie has not failed with Milan not like Silva although as a fan I would like to see Silva's progress under Giampaolo as well.
We are cash rich, but "book poor". Cutrone wasn't sold for cash. He was sold for the profit he'll bring on the books. We paid Piatek's transfer (35mil) in ONE installment. Something unheard of in football for the most part. So if that's not indication that we have cash, then I don't know what is. Milan (or I should say Elliot) has the cash, but without sales like the one of Cutrone, we can't spend it.

On Kessie...not sure how "he hasn't failed" in Milan. He was brought in as a young player that was expected to be a fundamental piece of the midfield. 2 years later, it's as if he's actually getting worse. It went from Kessie is a starter, to we need someone to challenge him for his spot, and now to we need someone to replace him. Can he stay and not be sold? Sure. But no way in hell would I risk starting the season with him as a starter. It was painful to watch our midfield last season and don't wanna do it again.

Kessie become worse playing with worse and worse teammates. He play well with the national team, a very different kessie. I am willing to take my chance with him.  We need to get rid of Biglia, Suso, castellijo etc before Kessie unless we can get 40m for him then he can leave immediately.

This.  100%.  He's a very dumb player.  Def doesn't fit Giampaolo's system
Looks like Theo Hernandez could be out 2-3 months depending on severity of injury
With the sale of Cutrone, it feels like the Milan "family" of the old days is definitely over. We are now a business. I didn't think that way with Sheva or Kaka sales as they wanted to go. Also didn't feel that way Silva/Ibra as both weren't here that long or youth products. This just seems like a business move. I get it, but the great Milan of the 90s and 2000s wasn't really ever like that.

@hwmook - I agree with your last post. The problem is that teams don't want the other guys. Management wants to move meat but they probably don't have takers. I am actually reall optimistic about Kessie going forward. Next season will be make or break for him here if he stays.

So annoying. 40 minutes on the pitch for us and he's out for months. Fortunately left back is one of the positions where we're definitely covered.
