He can't dribble, he can't cross, he can't make sharp passes, what he does best is tackling. According to these stats, he'd better suited to be a ball winning midfielder really.

But then again, since Cutrone is also sold, i don't see the need and favoritism for primavera product. Better sell Calabria and give chance to Conti.

disagree. ignoring what I think of Calabria... Conti needs game time and if we sign Aurier they'll both have to share game time. Better Conti goes on loan and hits form again while Calabria can play 2nd to Aurier. Also, sometimes theres a need for a more defensive fullback
(08-27-2019, 02:39 AM)honsano Wrote: [ -> ]I kind of disagree with this. What really separated us last year from 4th was any level of depth. Aside from Zapata, a lot of those players (mostly midfielders) that left were right to. So far Krunic will add good depth, Bennacer appears to be a starter, Hernandez a starter (also hopefully get rid of Laxalt too) and Leao is a possible starter depending on formation. With regards to coaching, Giampalo was to bring substance that we lacked since Allegri. We will really see what we have with him after the international break. If we still don't play with any clear style, we don't play our new players and Giampalo gives another weakling post match comment we can worry.

I'm not convinced by Lazio or Atalanta. Even less so with Roma after their summer sales. We have a good chance for fourth but this is gonna be a big test for the manager. Once we get back in CL, it will make it easier to attain those bigger name players.

I don't disagree that depth was a key reason why we didn't get fourth place last year, but my point has a lot more to do with the way this management works than anything else. Last season, we missed out on fouth place by one point. With a CL race that is expected to be extremely tight this year as well, we cannot afford to lose points for no reason. In this season, literally every game counts for us. And yet, when we approached the mercato, I am seeing the same crap from the Galliani days. We have been linked with Correa for almost two months now, and yet, we still don't know who our SS would be even after the season started. Our coach somehow thinks he is teaching tactical rocket science and refused to field any new signings even though his starters were all playing in wrong positions. We went out, laid a big fat turd against Udinese, and now we are already switching formations and marketing objectives. That is how a clown show is ran, not a real soccer club. Our key to the CL to me has less to do with how good is Lazio, Atalanta, Roma or whoever, but a lot more to do with how we are doing. We need to build the team that is ready to play week 1, not sometime around Christmas.

Boban and Maldini were criticizing Milan management for years, and then they come in and they approach mercato just like their predecessors. We have these obsessions with some average players, spend months on one target with no real progress, constantly switching personnel/formation/tactics and treat the beginning of the Serie A season like it is training camp. Does that sound familiar to anyone? I bet you Galliani would've been proud of the work being done around here by this management. I mean, what serious coach is going to change his desired formation after one game? And what serious coach plays almost every player he had out of position? This team is just laughable at this point.

Agree. We won't be any better than last year sorry. Maldini and Boban making the same mistakes as previous management. I guess with Leonardo leaving it's not a surprise that the new management is looking amateurish. Gazidis, Maldini, Boban, really? Give me at least one name who got reputation for beign successful in the sporting side of management. Also it is funny how Maldini and Boban were vocal about Milan's mistakes during their pre-management era, but now they are looking just as clueless as their predecessors. How deep is incompetence rooted in Milan today?
Lol , one game and Maldini Boban are clowns. The coach has not even used their purchases. Save your judgment guys, it is just too early to judge MalBo.
Well lol, they were amateurs before the game as well. How else would they pick Giampaolo? Big Grin

As much as I hate Inter, that's how you make a statement in the first game. Conte is still Conte. And with Conte available, our golden boys went for the midtable coach. Tells you everything really. Milan's first game statement? "Oh sorry, maybe that is not the right formation for my team at all." Laughable.
Siregar,

Its really the very first game of the season, but if you judge by the morning the day will be horrible for us. A team that doesnt make a shot for a whole first half and gets outplayed by Udinese (!), doesnt make us believe that things will be better than last year.being negative is one, being realistic is another thing. People with splendid football careers like Maldini and Boban, had to detect the prob areas sooner. Now its late, just panic buys may happen that is never good. They had to fix the RB issue, DM issue,AMF issue a lot earlier. The season is of , and we are still in vacations

You make it sound as if Serie A should award us a couple of points for that Udinese game just cause we weren't trying lol. Whose fault is it that the team is still not fully built? Who is responsible for not playing the new purchases? It is 100% on our management and coaching staff that this team still has so many holes in it, and the new players are somehow still not prepared to play at all. The three points lost here could be the difference by end of season between CL or no CL.

First of all, we argree that three points could make a difference. However it is not NOW but later. So, you guys are just too soon to judge Maldini Boban.

If we want to find who wrong is, it is very easy without looking the whole problem. Of course management and coach are the first to blame but they also have reasons for that. Firstly IMO, we are extremely affected by FFP and the fact we have no CL, both affect us financially while the later mentioned make us more difficult to buy quality players (no CL you have limited options to bring players that guarantee success even we have the money). However Maldini Boban still could bring players that are on paper better than our starters (Bennacer, Hernandes, Leao plus Duerte and Krunic as sub). All of them we got without any significant competition from big clubs.

Other alibi is that we have new management this summer. Maldini has his new role after the season over IIRC and Boban also came late. They also had players needed to be thrown away (and they did it by realising bench players). We have been facing problem to sell our players, mostly due to their big wage and/or overrated players. In addition, there were also players that reject to move (Hakan, Conti, Kessie). Maldini co also were also not lucky with Silva, they almost sold him very soon but Monaco made drama.

About the coach, he had our starters vs Udinese when he arrived. Crucial (or potentially important) players like Paqueta, Bennacer, Kessie joined the team very late. No wonder he seems unconvinced to field new players. We are not talking about certain players who can make different, who are just able to play with new teammates without having training for 1 minute (world class players). We have Bennacer who seems very talented, Leao despite his talent still inexperience, while Hernandes is injured. MG is new here and he brings new formation with limited option and tried to field the players to suit the new tactic. I doubt it could just bring success so early. I know he just made contradictions in his comment after the game talking about players that played not in their positions, change the formation to 433, etc but I won't judge this except he really did what he say like convert to 433, bring back Suso and Hakan in that formation and so on.
Torino have initiated the first contacts for Laxalt in the recent hours. They are also expected to speak with Milan about a possible transfer today [Di Marzio]
There is still no agreement between Atletico and Milan for Correa, who could seriously stay at Atleti for another year, reports @MatteMoretto
