31 years old for 30M, sound like Biglia all over again. No thanks.
The signing of Rebic makes sense of multiple levels. While it is a bit sad to see Silva leave, he needs a fresh start. He reminds me a bit of Morata, clearly gifted on a technical level, but seemingly needs an arm around his shoulder at all times to fully function.

The thing with Taison seems bafflingly stupid. You can count on few fingers the number of former Shaktar players who went on to do well in other leagues, while the number of players who turned out to be massive flops is staggeringly high. One only has to look at Fred, a player who showed a lot more promise that Taison has ever done.

If the club decides to splash anything close to €25M-€30M on this guy, the transfer will be up there alongside other boneheaded transfers such as Jose Sosa, Kevin Constant, Djamel Mesbah, Cristian Zaccardo and even Luiz Adriano. That kind where every fan can see how it will turn out from a mile away.
When Silva's contract ends? I don't get why we made 2-year loan.

I’m perfectly happy with this turn of events. Correa was ridiculously over valued by Atletico (and seemingly Giampaolo), yet he has never amounted to anything of notice. Rebic knows the league, he has the same characteristics as Correa (a tenacious fighter with great technique who works well in a supporting role), but he is much more prolific in terms of goals scored and chances created. On top of that he is physically strong, while Correa is tiny and could have suffered in Serie A, the same way that Castillejo has.

Very good job by Maldini & co.

2022, it is in all likelihood just a way to balance the books for both parties. The loan is with option to buy, it seems like both players have effectively been swapped.

Correa was an average player and that's it. Atletico considers him the 3rd choice forward. Not even called up for Copa America and friendlies by Argentina. Tells a lot about him.
About Silva and Rebic, the 2 year loan is better for us than for Eintracht as we have less risk I think :
- André Silva probably needs some stability, and he at least knows that he will be in the same club for 2 years ... It's a kind of new start (and possibly last chance to shine in a decent club ?).
- If André Silva does well, we either get a new striker in him in 2 years without spending 1 euro, or either get 25M if Eintracht want him and the player agrees to stay.
- Rebic seems like an immediate functionnal player who will be useful for us right now.
- If it doesn't work out like we want, we won't have to keep him, he will return to Francfort.

Good job this time !

Anyway, this good job could be partially cancelled ... if we get this Taison guy for more than 10M ! No Taison please !
If we have 25M to spend on a 31yo left winger who scored 40 goals in 230+ games in Shaktar during 6-7 seasons, we should better spend them on a last minute CAM or CM (isn't there any young and promising Italian midfielder at this price anywhere ?). If we keep playing with two strikers, we're still missing one player, let's try to get Icardi for that price just to make Inter and their fans furious (even if I couldn't be that happy to get this guy who represents Inter so much).
I wouldn't be against Taison for 20mil. He is a vertical player. Direct dribbler with pace. We basicaly have nobody in the squad like him. Samu was supposed to be that, but we all know how it turned out. Suso and Bonaventura are both good dribblers, but they operate more in tight spaces and don't do much about moving the ball vertically when drubbling and taking on players and space with pace. I know 20mil seems like a lot because he is 31. But who cares if he can give us 2-3 good seasons.

About Rebic...I said yesterday that I was against the move as it seemed like a panic buy. But now that the details have emerged, I gotta say it looks like a really good move. 2 year loan exchange with Silva is awesome. No out of pocket money basically. The idea was to sell Silva and replace him with Correa with that money. Instead, we have used Silva to get Rebic.
About Rebic himself...I'm not too high on him. However I gotta say I've seen very limited amount of his games, so I hope I'm wrong. He fits the bill though, that's for sure. His style of play can definitely work in Giampaolo's line up.

But where would Taison play ?
He's nor a CAM, nor a striker ?
That's the question. Whenever I've seen him, he's been operating more on the left side. That being said, I believe he's also played more centrally as well on occasions.

It looks to me that we will use 2 AMs (2 SS if you wanna look at it that way) behind 1 CF (Piatek or Leao?).
It's the only thing that would make sense since we'd be loaded with players that play in the area right behind the striker (be it wide or central). Suso, Samu, Jack, Rebic, Taison. Even Leao could actually be put in that company. I'd include Paqueta and Hakan as well that can play there.
