This result sucks for the Dutch. They seem to be getting their shit together, but they play away at France next game while Sweden plays Bulgaria. Wins for Sweden and France leaves the Dutch 6 points behind 2nd place and effectively out of yet another major tournament.
Italy has looked the best I've seen it look
Vs Uruguay? Yea, they looked comfortable in possession. Didn't create too much but were in control of the game the entire time. Having said that, Uriguay always plays reserved and allows opponents to have the ball.
Still, Italy was without a lot of important players but you couldn't even notice it.
I think times are bright for tge Italian National team again. I mean, my god, have you seen the u21 squad for the Euros? On paper it looks like a team that can easily be competitive in the senior Euros. And it's great how the u20s got 3rd in the u20 world cup, even though that's more or less a B team as many players are with the u21s. Not many nations can put out quality u20 and u21 squads.
Actually U21 is U23 if we look at the age of players that can play in the team. So, there is still a gap between U20 and U21 from age point of view. However you have point that Italy have bright future. The young players now who play pretty regularly will with Serie A and B clubs be the core of the team in coming years.
