He's not worlds best GK, but he has proven to be very reliable this season!! And IMO he's a bit underrated, he is doing a great job and I wouldnt mind him staying our number 1 for a few more years.

what do you guys think about him?
He is reliable right now but he could make easy mistakes. For now I am OK with him as GK number 1.

What bothers me a lot is he CAN'T pass at all with his foot. This is not a strong point of a GK but still it helps building counter attack or minimizing the attack from the opponent.
For me he's been the best keeper in Serie A this season. His consistency has been excellent and has made a number of crucial saves throughout the year, not just against Inter and Brescia, but others too. I agree with Siregar that he's weak with his feet, but otherwise he's been excellent.
Christian! Our unsung hero! Deserves an Ole
Actually if you go in retrospect (Im to tired to go through stats and stuff) abbiati has always performed for Milan. I remember in the 1999 the scudetto year he was a revelation. Also the year before Dda was introduced Abiati was one of the best players of the season( i was really surprised with CArlo when I saw Dida playing the first game againt Slovan Liberec), I even remember here a poll where he was first or second rated by the members after the season had ended. Last year he was great ...this year he has been monumental IMO.

So I believe he deserves all the praise in the world, even more so when he was shipped out of MIlan some times and always came back and fought for a place.
A lot of credit to the few goals he has let in has to go to our defense though. Several games he has hardly had a shot to stop. What he has gotten, though, he was dealt with well.
abbiati is a very solid goalkeeper and has been on fire this season. I say that this season and 98-99 were his best two with us. His half season (05-06) with Juventus was actually great (and upsetting for Milan fans) also.

amelia on the other hand, doesn't provide the sense of security that abbiati does.

I hope that Abbiati will keep his form for another 3-5 seasons. Smile
Honestly, he did not make any mistakes this year, and thats all you can ask for any GK.
What Abbiati did this year is that he is getting to get more respect from opponents and thats a good thing, which also means he is striking fears in opposing players.
I still remember the 98-99 season when he first broke through. Lehmann was as bright as a donkey (he got RC on his debut didn't he? CMIIW), then Rossi got injured. Then Abbiati stepped forward and I remembered thinking we got ourselves a WC keeper for the next 10-15 years. Sadly that's not the case. I think his injuries and inconsistencies hamper what could've been a great story.

I still rate him highly though and am very pleased with what he has shown this season. A couple of days ago in an interview he mentioned about his save against Perugia on the last day of 98-99 season as his best. I don't know this is what he's referring to but I remember vividly even until today how he parried Nakata's volley. We were leading 2-1 then but had that ball went in we wouldn't have won the scudetto.
Yes he is really the best Milan GK...The latest news about him was that he picked up a head injury after colliding with Peter Crouch during Tuesday's Champions League encounter with Tottenham Hotspur...But still he rocks.
