He's excellent, if he plays up to the standards he's been playing at with Wolfsburg, he'd be the best LB we've had since Serginho (during the period when he was playing his best at LB). If he can make another leap, I honestly think he'd surpass Serginho to be the best LB we've had since Maldini played there.

He's solid defensively, very good in attack. His crossing is one of the best of any wingback in the game today, while he's a set piece specialist and was the corner, free kick and penalty taker in Germany. Physically he's a decent athlete. He's widely been regarded as one of the best LBs in football over the past 3-4 years, barring this previous season where Wolfsburg had a terrible season and he's been played out of position as LCB in a 3 man defence (not a role he's accustomed to).

Simply put, he should be an excellent signing and he's supposed to be a great professional to boot.

Quote:Lucas Biglia to Milan is a done deal for €25m (bonuses included). Biglia will sign a 3-year deal+option for another year worth €3.5m/year.

Okmilan

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - nefremo - 06-06-2017

25mil is a hefty fee. The good part is that I doubt we are spending that much for a bench player...meaning Montolivo might leave. All good with me. Big Grin

In other news, apparently Conti and his agent want to close the deal to Milan before the u21 Euros. The deal is apparently in a very advanced stage.

So in about a week or 10 days...if all goes as it should and as the media reports, we will have signed:
Musacchio
Kessie
Rodriguez
Conti
Biglia

That is amazing work by the new management.

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - AC_Troy - 06-06-2017

I value Biglia at 20m.  25m isn't bad

Quote:Manchester United have had a €60m offer for Morata rejected by Real Madrid, who want €90m according to Sky.

Manchester United consider Belotti the alternative for Morata, however, just like Milan, they don't intend to offer €100m for him [Sky].

Things are about to get interesting

Thanks! He sounds like an excellent player, excited to see how he can contribute this season!

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - Hitman - 06-06-2017

Biglia for 21+4m? Wow. We indeed are rich Big Grin

I don't think Bonaventura should be untouchable in the starting lineup. We could do much better. Jack would be an excellent player for the squad, just not a starter if we want to aim for the Scudetto. He is far too inefficient.

Hopefully Rodriguez turns out to be good. The games I've seen him play he was alright, definitely better than what we have (although I'm a fan of Antonelli but can't seem to be able to stay healthy).

Donnarumma; Conti? , Musacchio, Romagnoli, Rodriguez; Kessie, Biglia?, X; Suso, X, X

Let's go to the drawing board:

INCOMING

Musacchio 15+3=18
Kessie 5+23=28
RR 15+3=18
TOTAL 54m

ASSUMED BUDGET: 120m

CURRENT REMAINING BUDGET: 66m

RECEIVABLES

Bacca 15
Poli 3
Niang 12
Lapadula 10
De Sciglio 15
Zapata/Paletta 3
Montolivo 2
Gabriel 3
Petagna 5
Bertolacci 12
TOTAL 80

BUDGET AFTER RECEIVABLES: 146m

LINKED PLAYERS

Conti 20
Biglia 21+4=25

BUDGET AFTER CURRENT LINKS: 101m

POTENTIAL PAYABLES
POSITIONS TO BE STRENGTHENED + LINKED PLAYERS VALUE:

1 BENCH CB = ~10
1 STARTING CF = Morata/Belotti ~70
1 CF = Schick, Dembele ~35
1 LW = Keita ~25
1 CM = Tolisso ~40

TOTAL 180

BUDGET AFTER SPENDING ON EVERY POSITION REQUIRED INVESTING: 101m - 180m = -79m

In other words, our budget will need a 79m on top of the 120m for us to do what we intend to do. Basically a budget of 200m.

Lolsies. I got such a grin on my face writing that. It's so fucking refreshing having a budget after what we've been through. We fucking deserve this for all the shit we've gone through with the previous management. Damn it feels good knowing that we now finally have a chance to compete on the biggest stages again.

* Above calculations based on the assumption that the full price of the player gets taken into account for this year's budget. For example, I used 28m for Kessie instead of the 5m that we will pay this year only.

Milan are in a hurry to close a deal for Conti before he heads to the European championship with Italy U-21.

Great times

I think we can live with this midfield and frontline for one year. But yes it's a little bit creepy because we have no good backup wingers and the only reliable backup in midfield is Locatelli (assuming Kucka gone).

On another note, I also think that we have enough money to also buy a striker. Belotti or Aubameyang or whoever on par with them. Especially if Bacca can be sold for 20-25M. After all we were promised a star midfielder and a star striker, right?

Are you suggesting Kucka is a reliable back up? haha

All our midfielders can go except for Loca and Bonaventura.

If we get James then chances are it will be a 4-2-3-1 that we would be playing.

If we can't afford to get James and Auba or Belotti, I would rather give James a miss personally... A top striker and some wingers are more important then a top CAM that may/may not actually fit the team.

So 3 down, 4 more to go at the very minimum. No matter how you look at it, I think we need another 4 signings to be competitive for that top 4 place. It will depend on the primary formation that Montella wants to use of course.

4-3-3.....means we need:
a. Holding Midfielder - (Biglia, Kovacic<not really his true position I know>, Modric.....just trying to put players here that we have been linked to, whether links are plausible or not)
b. Right Back - (Conti)
c. Left Wing - (Keita)
d. CF (Morata, Aubameyang, Belotti)

3-5-2....we need:
a. CB (Kjaer, De Vrij)
b. Right Wingback (Conti)
c. Holding Midfielder (Biglia, Modric, Kovacic)
d. CF (Morata, Aubameyang, Belotti)

Fill in the blanks and add any players you want in the parenthesis, but the point being is that this is generally what we will probably be looking at in terms of formation and the type of players that we will be/are pursuing. I find it very encouraging that the management knows exactly what is needed and there is a very clear plan. Whether this all works out and the signings all adapt next season, etc....you never know. But if this management continues to work with this kind of planning, that it is only a matter of time for success to return when keeping in mind the type of resources we seem to have. I haven't seen this type of elaborate planning and determination to get things done in a long long time in Milan.

Looks more and more like Biglia is a done deal with reports of fee's varying from 14+ bonuses to 24including bonuses...
Conti will hopefully be sorted some time this week.

That leaves us still needing a left wing and a striker... Plus we realistically still need some backup wingers and a back up cm or two...
