Sagrin  This is true

Its just shows that while the ownership deal was in thin air, the mgm Fassone and Mirabelli have been in constant search for new players. It now very clear that they have A,B,C plan for every player..and that just goes to show that they have a plan for a longer period. it might not be the best, but it is a plan, and that on its own is better that last year.

And if you see very closely, they have been very calm for every deal that happened or did not happen, cuz its part of the plan being that Biglia, Badelj or some other player in plan C

The only time they were vocal and vividly upset was the Donnaruma case, which was not part of the plan. They simply did not think that they would need a new GK.

You see what I`m getting at?

Completely agree 100%. If they don't do well next year or the year after, I am very content with how the management is working. They clearly have a plan and a solid team all working together towards the same goals. They have the resources and financial capabilities to pull off what they have in mind and ultimately that is the most important thing because even with the greatest plan you're going to fail in the world of football if you don't have the money. Very happy with our approach.

Meanwhile, rumours today say that Calhanoglu and Conti are done deals. They both should have their medicals by Tuesday. That'll bring our signings to 7 completed and we are in July 1st. We've agreed to spend a total of around 150m euro on these signings alone (with deferred payments) and we're even linked with Biglia-Kessie for another 50m, let alone that star player. Not even in my wildest dreams did I think we can spend anything like this. I was sincerely hoping and praying for 150m alone and we did that in the first month of the mercato. I'm so happy we've sold the club to the rightful owners.

I have a couple of questions that I'm struggling with. Did we sign any non-EU players yet? We are allowed two every season and I'm quite conflicted on Ricardo Rodriguez. He has a Swiss and a Chilean passport. Switzerland aren't in the EU so would he be taking one of the two non-EU spots? Hakan is Turkish but also has the German passport so he's fine. The rest of the players do not take any non-EU spots Musacchio, Borini, Conti (Italian), Kessie (within Italy) and Silva (Portuguese).

Only player we're linked with that I can think of that would take a non-EU spot is James.

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - Ryo - 07-01-2017

There's also that kid from Brazil. Maia or whatever his name is.

Also, indications from other parts of the interwebs indicate that management stated a budget of 120M, but are actually prepared to spend up to 200M this mercato. Makes sense if we consider that we're still missing a marquee signing for this new era, which will probably come if/when we qualify for the EL proper.

A deal has been agreed for Calhanoglu. €21 million + bonuses. Flies in tomorrow and having his medical on monday.

That's a very good point. Never thought of that.

I found this, http://pdacquaviva.com/2013/07/02/2013-non-eu-italian-quota-system-an-explanation/ , and it's from 2013 so it's kind of old but I doubt the view towards the Swiss players has changed since then. So if this is accurate, it says that Swiss players don't count against the non-EU limit.

Going by that, i guess we haven't signed any non-eu players this summer.

We definitely haven't.

Btw, here's a very cool article (2014) with some clips I read on our potential new creative genius Calhanoglu.

Enjoy the read  Okmilan

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - Kastriot - 07-01-2017

As I see it Calhanoglu will be our Pjanic, playing between the lines. I only hope, that he can become more of an all round player, helping with defense duties, rather than just open up spaces like Rui Costa did in the past.

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - ACM2019 - 07-01-2017

Speaking of non-EU, I bet all of you remember that Galliani was always slow in signing any quality players, but lightning quick at filling up our non-EU quotas with cheap and young players. Facepalm

Good time ahead. Heart

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - somedevil - 07-02-2017

i am not convinced with the Calhanoglu signing. He would've been good for the Milan of last year but with the goals that this new management has, he seems to me to be a Turkish Honda. Sure he is good at FKs but otherwise he has a tendency to disappear and often can be a frustrating player. I also think he is very overhyped as a result of his FK videos on YouTube.

Of course, I hope he proves me wrong and does great for us, but this is the only signing so far that I am not convinced.

Otherwise I agree with Kastriot, the new management has done a great job so far, esp when it comes to signing not-so-famous players who are also quality.
