RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - honsano - 07-02-2017

I kind of hope we don't make many, if any, more signings this window. We have to let these guys settle and play together. We have essentially just bought a new starting line up and some of these buys are for sure going to be busts. Lets wait for them and replace them as needed to keep getting better.

Also I read on some pages back Suso is for sale? Last I heard is that he is about to sign and refused 3 CL teams...

He would've been good for the Milan of last year but with the goals that this new management has, he seems to me to be a Turkish Honda. Sure he is good at FKs but otherwise he has a tendency to disappear and often can be a frustrating player. I also think he is very overhyped as a result of his FK videos on YouTube.

Of course, I hope he proves me wrong and does great for us, but this is the only signing so far that I am not convinced.

Otherwise I agree with Kastriot, the new management has done a great job so far, esp when it comes to signing not-so-famous players who are also quality.

11 goals & seven assists in 33 games, most of which came in the second best league in the world.  Also have to factor in he was banned for four months

Swiss players are an EU players though Switzerland isn't a part of the union. We have 2 slots available for non-EU players.

what a joke this river president is, he doesnt want to buy vangioni, but instead want him for free, vangioni is under contract with us, i know not many interest with him, but atleast we could get around 1m or lower for him.

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - ACMILAN1983 - 07-02-2017

Argentine football has issues in general with money, so River's president being tight is no real shock. I'm open to Vangioni going for free, he was a worthless transfer imo and it really seems a waste trying to get a buyer that will pay anything of any note for him.

Latest rumours are that Calhanoglu is in Milan for his medical (actually, it's happening and he's probably started the medical now), with everything expected to be completed tomorrow. Conti also looks set to be completed very soon, as Percassi has opened up and said they will see if it can be finalised this week.

Kjaer, the Danish CB formerly of Palermo and Roma also looks set to join. Good signing imo, as he will most likely take Paletta's place in the squad as first choice backup.

There's also rumours that the club are in constant talks with Mendes over James Rodriguez, though take the rumours with a pinch of salt as he looks destined for PSG.

As the transfer season progresses, it seems to me that it's becoming evident that while we have players with specific qualities in mind, it's unlikely many (if any) of them come in with the status of definite starter. For example, if Kjaer is brought in, it's probably as competition with Musacchio to be Romagnoli's partner.

Kessie isn't a sure starter the way we're working, nor are Calhanoglu and Andre Silva (despite the money paid) despite their high profiles. Chances are, most of these guys will start, but I think the focus of this work is to give Montella a strong and balanced squad for the upcoming season.

I also think we'll see an interesting set up next season. There were rumours that we're heading towards 4-3-2-1 next season, which with our mercato activities so far might be a good guess. I actually suspect we'll see a 4-3-2-1/4-2-3-1/4-3-1-2 hybrid as the system, with the team forming the xmas tree as the base defensive shape, but then opening up depending on who is in the lineup.

I might be way off, as with the way the market is at the moment, there's possibilities of almost anything. However, I suspect we'll see a team built to play attacking football and take the game to opponents. I think with a lot of central players being signed, we will also see a focus on play in the middle of the pitch, looking to dominate possession and make it difficult for opponents to play through us centrally.

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - nefremo - 07-02-2017

I think you are right Dev and with the current squad, a 4-3-2-1 is probably the best set up, with Andre Silva beong the reference point up top and Suso/Calhanoglu having free reign behind him with also Bonaventura pulling the strings from a deeper position. Obviously, this can change as we sign more players.

Also, the more I watch Silva, the more I think that he will be more than fine as a lone CF. As a matter of fact, he is showing qualities of a first striker that can hold the ball and bring others in the player, rather than a support striker who operates deeper and runs tha channels.

Some whispers that we contacted Sneijder's agent. They come from Ordini, so not sure how much I believe them. This is also the same (and only) guy that linked us to Douglas Costa but we all know that there was zero truth in that. So take the Sneijder rumors as you will for now...

Do you rule out the possibility of a 3-CB formation? Big Grin

With Conti and RR, we will have the most attack-minded full back pair in Berlusconi and Chinese era. Conti is almost a RM.

In order to field both of them, we need more defenders. There are 2 options:
- Play 3 CBs
- Play a DM who can drop deep in CB when the team attack

For 3 CB formation, we need a CB who is good at long ball to compensate the lack of a midfielder, like Bonucci or David Luiz.
Krychowiak could play CB thanks to his heading and tackling, but we haven't got any progress.

I'm still waiting...  Sagrin

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - Arildonardo - 07-02-2017

Calhanoglu to be completed tomorrow after second part of medical tests.

Conti medical possibly on tuesday.

Donnarumma tells Raiola he's signing a contract renewal with Milan.

Could be another eventful week in red and black...  Devilcool
