RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - reza - 07-12-2017

Bertolacci free dry loan to Genoa says Sky.

Wonder what Milan's balance sheet will be this financial year, with deals like this....

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - Milan13 - 07-12-2017

There seems to be some rumblings from a couple of sites about Milan making an offer to Juve for Bonucci for cash plus MDS plus Romagnoli? More Internet craziness?

Is this guy really that bad that no team is willing to buy him??

@Xu.......the only thing I can think of is to hope for him to have a good season at Genoa and get his value up a little bit.....because clearly now it's at ZERO! Big Grin

RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - ACM2023 - 07-12-2017

I hope that at least Genoa is paying his salary. Probably (most likely) not even that! Facepalm

I actually think it's better to loan the player than to sell him at a loss when it comes to the books. If we sell him right now, even though we will receive cash, it will actually go on as a loss on our Income Statement. In terms of a balance sheet effect, doesn't really change much....as a matter of fact it probably helps, because the player (intangible asset) remains on our balance sheet...he'll just be "leased" in a way to Genoa. If Genoa pays us for this loan (lease), than it will look even better for us as we would be making a revenue out of one of our assets that will show up on the income statement.

This goes along with Xu's question too.....I think what they are hoping to achieve is to raise the player value so that when we actually do sell him...the loss isn's as big.

I am interested to know what FFP looks at when it comes to their rules. I believe the emphasis is on the Income Statement rather than Balance Sheets, but not sure.

Anyway, away from the boring stuff Big Grin ..... we have now gotten rid of Kucka, Poli, and Bertolacci. Even if Biglia comes, we will need another midfielder for sure.

You first blame Dortmund because they "always sell their stars", (Gotze, Hummels) and then you blame them for one case when they didnt want to sell (Lewandowski). They sold the first two, not because they WANTED to cash in on them, but because the players wanted to go there. And the one time they didnt want to give in, they ended up losing the player for free. I mean, what do you want them to do? To settle being feeder club for Gayern?
There is simply no way to build a sustainable team in a league with a team that is so much stronger financially than everyone else.

And dont compare them to Milan, please. The players we bought this summer are gonna be the base of our rebuilding project, they're not gonna be benched for some megastars we already have on the same positions.

EDIT: True, its not all Gayern's fault, some of the blame is on the players who prefer to sit and get paid instead of playing time.

Dortmund has been a selling club even without doing business with Bayern. That is just their business model, to foster talent and then sell them for cash to reinvest. Kagawa, Sahin, and now Aubameyang didn't want to go to Bayern, and were/will be sold nonetheless, no? Certainly, I think Bayern's clout within Germany made it difficult for teams to hold onto their stars, but it's not like Germany teams were holding onto their stars even if Bayern weren't interested. Dortmund simply isn't willing to invest in player wages the way their European power house peers do, therefore, all the star players on that team is going to leave at some point, Bayern or not.

In order for a team in Germany to be sustainable, they need to have the courage to invest heavily at the beginning, like what we are doing right now. You can't just do the whole status quo and think you can dethrone Bayern. Teams like Man City, Chelsea and PSG were no power houses in their respective leagues for the longest time. Based on what you are saying, those teams should never be able to escape their mid table status because Man Utd and Lyon (at the time) were just too far ahead financially. But heavy investments in the beginning allowed these teams to get to the top of the league and start building a sustainable model going forward. Germany teams are very conservative financially, which is why they are one of the financially healthiest leagues in the world, but it also makes it difficult for a team to change its fortune.

It's easy to say we are not doing what Bayern is doing right now, because our team is weak and any player we sign can basically walk right into a starting role. But during our heydays, I do recall seeing a few stars on our bench as well. Roberto Baggio was a Balon D'or contender at Juve, and couldn't get a starting role here. Are we supposed to complain about how Milan was trying to screw the entire Serie A because of that? Ambrosini could have been a starter in almost any European team out there, but was merely a first sub off our bench. What do we call that? All I am trying to say is, having talented players sit on the bench is something all great teams in history did, not a Bayern exclusive thing. And I do not think for one second Bayern actually tried to buy Renato Sanches for that kind of money simply to bench or destroy him. What good would that do them? They invested in a young player, and he hasn't panned out, simple as that. We did that with Pato too.

FFP emphasis is on the Balance Sheet as it makes sure clubs do not spend more than they can earn. This blog have many posts about FFP if you're interested

Okmilan Okmilan  Okmilan

I think Bundesliga teams could potentially hold on to their stars a little bit longer now that they get almost double the money from the new TV deal. Would make Bundesliga more competitive in the coming years.

Some reports on TMW :
- Berto goes on loan to Genoa, without any option, but Genoa will pay something (the amount isn't given)
- They report there are real contacts between Fassone and the agent of Bonucci, and Marotta ... And at this stage, we would want to buy Bonucci without including any player
