RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - Dascard - 04-22-2017 Kompany is one of those world class talents destroyed by injuries. Such a shame. I agree, he wouldn't be a good extenze article signing all things considered. RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - ACMILAN1983 - 04-22-2017 Have I missed something?? I didn't see any discussion about Kompany at all RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - nefremo - 04-22-2017 2 pages back. Post 357....Mathias brought it up. RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - nefremo - 04-23-2017 According to football-italia, La Republica is saying that De Sciglio has informed Milan that he won't extend his contract and instead wants to move to Juventus. Obviously, no idea if this is true or not. If if is, they need to immediately take the captain's arm band away and send him into the stands for the rest of the season. Also, make it official so that he becomes the most hated Milan player instantly while he still has to live in Milano for a few months. And if Juventus and MDS want a cut-price deal because his contract expires in a year, than they can forget about it. Either pay full price, or MDS will rott on the stands for the entire year in a world cup season. I just can't believe that someone from our own youth academy who has said he loves Milan many times before would do something like this. Hope it's not true. I don't rate MDS and I wouldn't mind if we sell him...but it can't be to Juventus and it certainly can't be on his terms if he really does want Juventus. Speaking of the captain's armband....this has nothing to do with this report......but why the hell is MDS wearing it? He has ZERO characteristics of a captain. RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - sylrus - 04-23-2017 agreed about mds if that is true though. it would disrespect milan and us as a fans. RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - ACMILAN1983 - 04-23-2017 If it's true, then I'd say let him go, but I would say for nothing less than 50m for Juve. No joke, he's a youth product in line to become the next captain, he's an established Italian first team player with CL, Euros and World Cup experience and he's been playing as a starter in Serie A for 5 years now. He's only 24, an age to reach maturity with his best years yet to come for at least 10 more years and he's one of few fullbacks in the world that's a defender (most can't defend these days). If a direct rival that was prepared to spend 100m on Higuain wants him, 50m isn't so ridiculous with all things considered. If Juve aren't prepared to meet the offer and he wants to let his contract run out, let him rot for all I care, a player with no commitment to the club is worthless. RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - ACM2023 - 04-23-2017 I hope that the rumor isn't accurate. We may not ever find out, but de Sciglio needs to come out and make public aware of his commitment. What really will happen no one will know, of course. I like Dev's idea. 50M or gtfo. It will be sending out the right message to the world. But Milan won't do that. For sure, the old management run by Galliani will never do that. Everything would be handled in the dark and under the table. The "friendship" was too valuable; they wouldn't take away his captain armband either. No guts, no balls. Maybe the new management will be different? RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - nefremo - 04-23-2017 The San Siro was booing him when he was leaving the field today. I am sure we'll know more soon as he will definitely be asked the question. As I've said in the past, I don't rate him much. If he wasn't from our own academy he would have faced so much more criticism and rightfully so. People give him a pass because of that. It's understandable, but it won't last much longer with inconsistent and mediocre performances like he has been showing. RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - ACMILAN1983 - 04-23-2017 I kind of disagree nefremo, I think for all the apologists for him coming from our youth, there are just as many overly critical fans. There's no denying that the early comparisons to Maldini have hampered his growth at Milan, but also there are expectations for him to be of the same level as players who have represented our youth over the years, which can feel like the weight of the world on a young guy's shoulders. He's not a perfect player by any stretch of the imagination, but he's a very good defender and one of the most reliable fullbacks in the Italian game and imo one of the most underrated fullbacks on the planet (mostly because he's been playing for a desperately struggling club). Truth is, this place is actually quite mixed in opinion of him, he has some fans and those who don't rate him. That's a pretty fair point, we're not talking about a new Maldini here. However, go to a place like R&B and see the general comments on him there, they're so full of unwarranted hate it makes no sense. What the fans at the stadium did today was also completely unfair. He didn't have a good game, nor did the rest of the team. That said, he was probably still our best defender today, the CBs were a disaster and Calabria simply wasn't doing good enough defensively, so why surround DES' car? If it's because of the rumours to Juve, then again it's totally unfair seeing as no one outside of the people directly involved in discussions really know what's happening. There's rumours and that's it, it's just press talk right now. Even if he wanted to leave, can you blame him? He's got a lot of vitriolic hate from fans for years now, has been in a toxic environment in a club that's been in turmoil (which in turn hampered his growth) and has been suffering through pretty much depression during those years. You get a call from the undoubtedly best team in Italy from the coach who launched your career in the first place and a chance to win top trophies quickly and you wouldn't seriously consider that move? I don't doubt he supported Milan over the years, and perhaps still wants what's best for the club, but only an idiot wouldn't at least think about this opportunity. Frankly I think Milan fans can also be idiotic towards our own homegrown players. The weight of expectation is ridiculous for those wearing the shirt and when even the likes of Donnarumma gets accused for trying to engineer a move to Juve after the odd mistake against them, then you know there's something toxic in the expectations fans set the club (something I think has become the result of the downfall over the past decade). Edit: nefremo, I'm sure you're aware, but this isn't an attack on your opinion about DES, I'm referring to a lot of fans that thankfully tend not to come to this site much. Also, this doesn't change my opinion from before, I still would still let him rot if he doesn't commit and the demands aren't met, Milan always remains my first interest. RE: Summer transfer window 2017 - nefremo - 04-23-2017 No worries. I know it's not personal and it's a good discussion. I think we disagree on the fact that you think it's ok for him to seriously consider moving to Juventus. I don't think we should have our captain considering moving to Juventus. I completely lose respect for a player like that and I can't comprehend how he can wear the armband. I don't know if the rumors are true or not. I hope that they are not. You can not call yourself a supporter of Milan if you are considering playing for Juventus while you are actually the captain of Milan currently. So yes, I will completely blame him for that. I think we also disagree on his quality. While I do agree that he can have decent games defensively, he is still inconsistent and makes many mistakes. I don't think he is underrated and especially not one of the most underrated on the planet. He is rated as much as he deserves to be rated. Like an ordinary fullback. There is nothing special about him, other than the fact that he comes from our youth system. He is not an exceptional defender, and he is mediocre (to say the least) in possession and when attacking. Today he had a bad game, last week he had a decent game but made a crucial mistake on the Candreva goal. This is De Sciglio for you. He will have some decent games, he will have some mediocre one. The definition of an ordinary player. Nothing special. When was the last time he had an exceptional game? One where he completely shut the the opposition winger and provided threat when going forward? Not to be too harsh, but I just don't remember if that has ever happened. It was ok that it didn't happen because he was only 19, and than only 20, and than only 21, etc, etc. Now he is 24 though so it's time for him to man up a little bit. Of course he will be criticized, but he has been FAIRLY criticized in my opinion. Never excessive. Not here at least. What happened today in the stadium had nothing to do with his performance but with the rumors. He is criticized like any other player when they play bad. As a matter of fact, he's probably gotten the most chances to prove his worth. I am not talking about people at R&B, I couldn't care any less about that. I am talking about the club itself, the coaches at the club that have come and gone, and also the fans at the San Siro. I don't ever remember fans turning on him and booing him. Today was the first time and it was definitely to do with the rumors about Juventus. He is 24 now and I still see people talking about him like he is 18. What you see is probably what you get with De Sciglio at this point. Through all the coaches that have been here, every one of them has treated him as a starter when he's been healthy. What more support does he want or need? Now the ball is in his court. He is the one that has to perform. And while he's done that ordinarily, it's never been exceptional. To be clear about it, I am ok with MDS staying. He can stay as a RB and fight for his spot. No, I don't think that he is an exceptional RB and I think that he is very ordinary. Something that you can find on the market easily if you are willing to spend 15-20mil. If he leaves, he can be replaced. If he stays, than he will be an option on the right along with Abate and Calabria (who probably needs to be loaned out so that he can play more). No problem for me. Just get a great LB than. |
