RE: Serie A - ACM2023 - 05-09-2011

nobody seems to know how rich this new Roma boss is. all I know that he seems to have purchased Roma with a dirt cheap price. I can't find the source now, but I wanted to say it was 67 million for a certain (majority) percentage, as I remember reading a headline somewhere saying that "Roma is cheaper than C. Ronaldo". Smile

Mostly because he had to pick up Roma's debt to bank which is VERY large.

Di Bennetto is in same group as Liverpool owners in USA. They own Boston Redsox and Boston Celtics I believe. Both are 2 well run teams. As you're seeing with Liverpool, they've completely rehauled management and rising again with smart moves.

I didn't (I had a lot of time, but just didn't care), but saw the scoreline on livescore.com. Looks like a typical Juventus this season though.

when they subbed Krasic they had 11 italians on field. I think they might be only team in serie A who have done that

They hit the post 3 times in last 10-12 minutes.

Buffon charged a ball at halfway line, missed it, cheivo had 1 on 1 and he pased it to jube defender.

It was ridiculous

RE: Serie A - ACM2023 - 05-09-2011

sounds like a fun game that I missed. I am going to look for some Youtube clip for highlight of this game. Too bad that recently Serie A videos are being forced off due to the new copyright contraversies.

Speaking of Juventus having 11 Italians, too bad these days Italian players simply aren't good enough. I would rather have 8 or 9 great foreign players than all 11 Italian but mediocre players, such as Motta, Pepe.

Juventus's lineup today:

G. Buffon
M. Motta
A. Barzagli
G. Chiellini
F. Grosso
M. Krasic (L. Toni)
A. Aquilani
C. Marchisio
S. Pepe
A. Matri
A. Del Piero

UEFA Champions League 2010 final
Inter Merda lineup:

GK 12 Júlio César
RB 13 Maicon
CB 6 Lúcio
CB 25 Walter Samuel
LB 26 Cristian Chivu 68'
CM 4 Javier Zanetti ©
CM 19 Esteban Cambiasso
AM 10 Wesley Sneijder
RF 9 Samuel Eto'o
CF 22 Diego Milito 90+2'
LF 27 Goran Pandev

DF 23 Marco Materazzi 90+2'
MF 5 Dejan Stanković 68'
MF 11 Sulley Muntari 79'

pretty amazing.

RE: Serie A - Ca Rossonero - 05-09-2011

It's not that they start 11 italians that's the problem. It's the fact outside of cheillini and marscisio (maybe buffon and matri) are only 2 italians who you could claim are among 11-15 best italians.

There is some good young talent in italy, but they are doing a horrendous job developing. Players like Aquilani, Montolivo were just as good as there german/spanish/english counterparts at u21 level. But they never developed beyond it. Unlike the previous generation of pirlo, gattuso etc.

RE: Serie A - ACM2023 - 05-09-2011

I agree. I am also with you that Chiellini and Marchisio seem decent and I don't mind having them as backup in Milan. Big Grin You don't seem to rate Aquilani. I have mixed feeling about this kid (well, he is not a kid any more obviously). I used to think that he would turn into some big name. I haven't totally given up on him yet.

The rest of Juventus' squad was just horrible. Even Buffon, as much as I respect(ed) him, I think his time is up. He is not even as good as Storari from the few games I saw them play. Also, how could Barzagli take the place away from Borucci? I don't understand.

RE: Serie A - Ca Rossonero - 05-09-2011

I actually rate Aquilani. He's got most potential to replace pirlo in italy. I think he's a bit misused, but apparently they must play 4-4-2 at ALL times.

MY only issue with Aquilani is injuries. Thus I couldn't justify his current quoted fees.

RE: Serie A - ACM2023 - 05-09-2011

didn't he get better this season? He played 29 games in Serie A, which seems a decent number. based on wikipedia, that was already the highest number of games that he played for a season:

Roma 2004–05 29
Roma 2005–06 24
Roma 2006–07 13
Roma 2007–08 21
Roma 2008–09 14
Liverpool 2009–10 18
Juventus 2010–11 29

I couldn't understand by the way, why he would go to Liverpool in the first place. It was such a strange (I am not calling it stupid though I am tempted to) decision.

RE: Serie A - Ca Rossonero - 05-09-2011

He went to liverpool because Roma wanted money. Benitez offered some crazy money for a guy who spent 3 years injured. Those games played are highly inflated too. How many did he go 90? So many are 1 sub, 1 start, re injured.

Take a look:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/player/_/id/13752/alberto-aquilani?cc=5901

09/10: 12 starts
08/09: 10 starts
07/08: 17 starts
06/07: 15 starts
05/06: 26 starts

Maybe he's past his injuries but it's a big risk to pay that much for a player who hasn't stayed healthy
