RE: Serie A - GeoTav - 03-12-2013 (03-12-2013, 02:49 AM)xudong Wrote: I never liked Palermo, and absolutely resent Zamparini. I have been waiting for their demotion to Serie B. Hopefully this will happen this May. Why Nicollin ? The guy runs well his club actually ... You have to know Montpellier is a small club with a small/average budget in France, well was a small club, Nicollin is their president since ... so much time, and there is some stability there. 2008-2009 : Rolland Courbis as coach, 2nd in Ligue 2 2009-2010 : René Girard as coach, 5th of Ligue 1 2010-2011 : René Girard as coach, 14th of Ligue 1 2011-2012 : René Girard as coach, 1st of Ligue 1 2012-2013 : René Girard as coach, currently 7th of Ligue 1 What this club has achieved since 2011 is amazing, and they have tried to make some money by selling Giroud in Arsenal, Yanga Mbiwa in Newcastle and by qualifying in CL. Of course, Nicollin is a weird/funny character, he says things to make the buzz, to make medias talk about his club (last buzz : Maradona becoming the coach of Montpellier next season ... which won't happen, of course ... Instead, he could take Domenech ... Which would make some buzz in France) but his club is quite serious. Nicollin would die for his club. Zamparini is richer, he is also just crazy and has no idea how to run a football club. You can't compare both guys. For one, the club is his passion since the start, for the other, it's just a toy. RE: Serie A - ACMILAN1983 - 03-12-2013 You guys need to look up Gigi Becali (of Steaua Bucherest) if you think these guys are insane RE: Serie A - reza - 03-12-2013 The Steaua guy is political and mad, I agree he is on another level RE: Serie A - ACM2023 - 03-12-2013 (03-12-2013, 10:38 AM)GeoTav Wrote: Why Nicollin ? because Nicollin pissed me off for saying that we should give them all the money we received for the sale of Thiago Silva for Mbiwa; also because that he recently said that he would invite Maradona to coach. I just dislike him very much, but I must admit that I don't know him that well, so whatever you say about it, I will listen. RE: Serie A - Best-Pundit - 03-14-2013 Geo, I want you to post your traditional post containing the current standing, matches to come and games where Juventus would drop points and gift the Scudetto to AC Milan. RE: Serie A - Hasan Rossonero - 03-14-2013 Great news for Serie A yesterday. Malaga knocked out Porto, which means that Italy has another chance to put more distance between itself and Portugal. There is only one Portuguese team left, and that is Benfica, and they are playing Bordeaux. So, one close competitor will be cancelled out. RE: Serie A - nefremo - 03-14-2013 Yes, it's huge for Serie A that Porto went out. The league still needs Juventus and Lazio to do well. Even Inter winning today (doesn't have to be advancing) will help. We should be all clear of France as Serie A is consistently puting up better numbers then them over the past 5 years (including this one). Portugal however, even though at 6th place right now, will have a chance to to overtake Serie A in a couple of years (and almost certainly will overtake League 1) because in 2010/2011 they had the highest coefficient ranking in Europe of 18.800. Italy only had 11.571 that year and the only thing currently keeping Serie A ahead of Portugal is the previous year (2009/2010) where Serie A had 15.428 and Portugal only 10.000. However once that year is deleted and only years 2010/2011 and onward are counted Serie A may lose it's 4th place. That will happen in 2 years which means that Italy has this season and another 2 years to make up that difference of 7 points or so. We have already started well this year by gaining a 13.416 over Portugal's 10.083 (made up almost 3.5 points there). Which means that Serie A has to to make up another 4 points in the following 2 years. In any case, even if that happens, Italy will lose it's 4th spot for only one year and then once that huge coefficient of 18.800 that Portugal put up in 2011 is deleted they will drop down to either 5th or 6th place. (assuming that they won't put up numbers like that again) It makes no difference however as we get the same ammount of teams in Europe as the 5th and the 6th place leagues anyway. So wheather you are 4th, 5th, or 6th it doesn't really make any difference. The big thing is for Italy to get back into the top 3 so we can get another CL spot. It's not going to happen any time soon however as all 3 leagues ahead of Serie A are consistently putting up better numbers every year. Italy would have to have an enourmous year (something like Portugal's 2011) and one of England or Germany to have a terrible year in order for Serie A to get back into the top 3. On top of that, the rest of the seasons have to be at least on par with those countries. I don't see it happening any time soon....not for at least another 3-4 years. Just for reference... http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/crank2013.html RE: Serie A - ACM2023 - 03-14-2013 @nefremo: I agree with most of your points there. I am not terribly worried. First, I don't see Portugal and France catching up (just talking out of gut-feeling), what's more, even if Italy lost the 4th ranking to Portugal and France, they would still have 3 CLs and 3 ELs. I see Italy stuck in 4th or 5th for a while. RE: Serie A - ACMILAN1983 - 03-16-2013 Here's a great article about Fiorentina this season, about how they're balanced and their play. I really like Montella, so I personally found it a really good read. http://www.whoscored.com/Blog/u4rrwy-iquyrcjl-luzufw/Show/Team-Focus-Fiorentina-Building-Toward-a-Title-Challenge-Next-Season RE: Serie A - Hasan Rossonero - 03-16-2013 Thanks Dev. I see Italy stuck in 4th or 5th for a while. I am actually optimistic that we can cancel out a huge portion of Portugal's 8-point lead this year. I am really cheering for both Italian teams to go all the way, and it's not completely outlandish to suggest they can--just like Benfica can go out to Newcastle. |
