RE: Summer mercato 2012 - ACM2023 - 04-17-2012

I hope that we have a youngster (of our own) as the 3rd GK. I have fond memory of 98-99 when Abbiati came from Monza (?) as our backup to backup, but end up surprising the world. Smile

I think has his contract is also expiring in the summer. He's not good enough for us, this much I'll say outright now. A solid shot stopper, but he is error prone and not really at all dominant in his area. If he does, I think it could benefit us in two ways. One is to get into the Japanese market (not that Kawashima's anywhere near as marketable as other names like Nakata, Nakamura, Kagawa and Honda), something we've been looking to do for a long time now. Secondly, if he is free, then it means we can sell Amelia to raise some funds for other areas of our squad.

Oh, and he'll take one of our non-EU spot. But it's worth it, I think.

with most our senators leaving we'll have a lot of free space for wages if we can keep the squad down to 26-27 players

By "specialists" you mean "football experts" or "specialist doctors"? Sagrin And who were they exactly? Just curious...

football experts, milannews.it not saying there is any truth behind it but never know

The difference in merchandise sales and exposure in Japan (only Japan) will be less than you might think (regular player vs 1 game per season)

For starter, you are assuming Amelia is staying. To me, spending a non-EU spot on a 3rd string GK is pure stupid. As I said before, he is not a great keeper but surely can handle being the 2nd keeper for Milan.
Can he opens the Asia market for Milan, well, yes, since people, esp., those in Japan will notice Milan more. He might not have the impact of say, Nakata, Honda or Kagawa, but still a lot better than now.
Last year around this time, there were tons of contracts talk, who will MIlan renew....and how the players react to that...but this time around, there are pretty much close to none of it. I have a sense that a lot of the old guards won't be back b/c they really did not play any role this year.

RE: Summer mercato 2012 - ZvonimirBoban - 04-18-2012

Kawashima is still a starter for Japan NT, IIRC. If we don't spend a thing for keeper when Abbiati declines he may end up become our 1st keeper, as our current keepers are all not that good.

Bayern did good job last night, real was not impressive at all when against compact defence.I think an italian defence team doesn't need to fear real, barca is still the team to beat.and coentra was very awful against robben and lamh.
Pastore is having a down season at PSG this year, new rumor says french side plans a pastore-pato swap this summer.it seems any star player suffering bad form at the moement is connected to milan.

RE: Summer mercato 2012 - Beppe - 04-18-2012

Rumours say we have signed Montolivo, he will earn 2.5m a season and he signed till 2016.

RE: Summer mercato 2012 - GeoTav - 04-18-2012

A lot of things today ...

Like Beppe said, it is said in Italy that Montolivo has already agreed to sign a 2.5M/year contract.

It is also said that Acerbi will be bought 4M by Genoa and sent on loan (or co-owned) in Milan.
As a consequence, if Acerbi comes, that probably means that Natali won't come, especially if Yepes gets a one year extension.

Other news : Juventus and Milan will fight for Astori ...

RE: Summer mercato 2012 - Dha Brain - 04-18-2012

YAY YEPES GONE ! , as for astori is he really worth 10 Mill ? , sorry If I sound like Galliani haha !

RE: Summer mercato 2012 - Hasan Rossonero - 04-18-2012

Remember how some of us wanted Coentrao? Well this is a case of the grass being greener really.

He was excoriated in the Spanish press for his "performance" yesterday, and rightfully so. Ribery owned him all night. The last slip was just the icing on the cake. And apparently there seems to be heavy criticism of his performances in Spain (in general, not just last night).

I am not saying we have better options, but it goes to show that big time reputations can crumble spectacularly.
