Summer transfer window 2017

I was just suggesting that if we have the extra 25-30mill to spend on someone, I'd rather see it go on a better CB... Laporte and Roma would be an awesome defensive pair capable of playing 10+ years at high level together...
i agree laporte probably has a higher ceiling but his stats are virtually identical to musacchio. plus musacchio/de vrij are more experienced which is what we need right now. i think romagnoli needs a real leader next to him in order to shine as 2 young cbs may not work. also, i'd prefer to invest the extra 30m we'd save on laporte on filling another position. but don't get me wrong, if we signed him i'd be over the moon. it would show some forward planning for once!

i've read it on a number of sites but here's a link to calciomercato who i trust.

if we can sign kolasniac + musacchio/de vrij for 20m plus renew donna + des our defence will be twice as strong.

i REALLY like this player and hope we get him. imo verratti, gagliardini, locatelli + pellegrini are the future of the national team midfield. verratti's juventino and costs 80m so will definitely go there. hate to say it but inter pulled off a great coup signing gagliardini for 25m. he has everything (physicality, technique, defensive contribution and goal scoring ability) to become a top player in future. personally i think locatelli can become at least as good as him in future and believe pellegrini's at the same level. but i'm not sure roma will let him go as they're probably going to sell strootman/nainggolan and pallotta recently said he wants to use more youth products. also they had a bid for him rejected by sassuolo in january.

I totally agree with you.
We are in urgent needs of a good defence. I don't think that Zapata will be a long term option. As good as Paletta plays, he has his moments where he is lost on the pitch. We need a good defender and mentor for Romagnoli.
Looks like Pellegrini is being linked again...

His agent has spoken about the rumour too, saying as things are (i.e. the sale still being incomplete) he doesn't think a transfer to Milan can happen:

I've said a few times that I really like this guy, so wouldn't mind seeing him in a Milan shirt.

for me the only issue in getting him is roma. for sure they will activate his 11m buyback clause but whether its to keep him or sell him on for profit like bertolacci nobody knows. if spalletti leaves the uncertainty surrounding their new coach and playing time may swing things in our favour. montella also coached him in the roma youth academy which should help. but if they sell a top midfielder like strootman/nainggolan they may decide to keep him. however, if their new sporting director monchi signs an adequate replacement then pellegrini should learn from the examples of paredes/gerson and leave. hopefully having ex-roma youth teammates here like bertolacci and romagnoli will help.

however, i can't see him going to anybody besides us/roma as he wouldn't get the necessary playing time at juve/inter if they sign verratti, tolisso etc.
Chelsea is looking to sign De Vrij for 50M..

rip off... injury prone with 12months left on his contract... No doubt he's a talent but that's way too much for him... I'd consider anything more than 25-30mill overpaying...
