I mean, when he was sold, we knew he didn't make it to our first team, fast or not, what does that change ?
They probably knew he was fast, but they also probably thought he couldn't become a good or great player for us. Many years later, we could easily say they were wrong, but I think he would never have reached this level by staying in Milan.

Well, sorry for not making it clear. I work with data every day, so I am quite obsessed with the correctness of information Big Grin

I know your point, and I don't take speed or any attribute as the only winner (even if I only play football games, I could know that Big Grin)

So if Aubameyang was sold as a David Bellion who has nothing except top speed, I could be satisfied, but him being sold as a nothing special, I am not satisfied Big Grin

EDIT: I confess that I care about a not very important detail, but I couldn't help Big Grin

Well he WAS sold as "nothing except top speed"! That's why we only got 3mil from Saint Etienne. Big Grin  Devilol

I'm not saying he's a bad player, he was the best player on our team last year. He's very versatile, all-rounded, and one of the few players who actually have passion and grit to play for milan.

It's just that his decision making isn't that good.
If only jack wont shoot a lot of speculative shots from outside penalty area, he'd be a great midfielder. I've seen a lot of milan games, and he's the kind of player who dont have the technique to make a good long shot like sneijder / ronaldo, yet he keeps shooting and shooting, sometimes 25m or more.
This is the reason why he only had 37% accuracy with total 47 shots last season (18 shots were on target).

But hey, at least he still have a a lot better shot accuracy than boateng with 29% from 92 shots in 2012-2013  Devilol

To be fair, that's something a good coach can change... I suppose only time will tell but I didn't see much of that from him last game... If anything I thought he looked quite reserved. Finally started to show more of himself no long before he got subbed off.

Auba was fast a decade ago. If you watched the game in youth tournament in Malaysia, he did utilize his speed to get Ball, run wide and score. I don't think he suddenly becomes fast.

I think the issue is more that he used to have some skill and talent and also happened to be fast. while now, as he's grown as a player, he was able add his speed into his style of play to grow into the player he is today...
There are many players who have decent speed but don't use it as often because their "main" attribute is something else...

I think we gave up too quickly on him... the first year he was loaned to St. Ettienne he did ok. Showed some glimpses into what he could become but I think at that stage we had given up on him because he was already "older" as well as we had other options. It was easier for him to become someone else's problem. We did that quite often back then... Not really persisting with some younger, rawer talents because we didn't need to and had owners with a lack of forward thinking...
Since our management says they wont announce their targets anymore and there are other players they have considered, i was thinking, what about Benzema. He can certainly hold up the ball and create chance. Play next to the last defender. He doesnt depend on speed so him being 29 wont matter.

Benzema would fit nicely beside Andre Silva... they'd make a really good combo... Just not sure how Real would go about their business... If they demanded 70mill for Morata, I wonder what Benzema would cost...
