Isn't Lord Bonera will be assistant to Giampaolo. Who knows he might come out of his retire and play for us so lineup should be -

Modric had a good season. He's still a valuable asset

Problem is that we would have to give Hakan + cash as Upamecano is valued at well over 30mil. Again, this is way too much for a position that's really not such a priority. It's a priority in terms of numbers and we need a 3rd CB....so someone below 10mil will do. But to drop 30+mil on this position when we are in desperate need of a true SS (or someone up top that's able to being pace, dribbling, creativity, scoring) doesn't seem like a smart thing to do.

Some other interesting news.....we are interested in Seri. 2mil + option at 15mil.
This guy got a lot of criticism since signing for Fulham, but a couple years ago he was the talk of the town while playing for Nice. At 2mil loan + option, he is a low risk move and good enough as a back up. If he rediscoveres his Nice form, then who knows, he may surprise us. But getting him allows us to allocate even more from the budget towards a SS....instead of dropping 18-20mil on Veretout.

Also, De Gea renewing with United. So really...the only option for PSG at the moment is Gigio. If they want him, they'll have to pay up. I know it's been said that he'll stay for sure....but if they were to come back and met our valuation, then we may see a twist here. My opinion is that they'll be back for him in August. And we can milk them for all they are worth because there are no other options out there for them.

I've been a fan of Upamecano for a few years. Solid defender. And having 3 solid defenders is a good problem to have... But I do agree that it's a lot to spend on a CB when we still need to spend money elsewhere.

I agree with Seri, it's a low risk option so why not.

Its simple... 60m+ cash or we're not interested. If they don't want to come to the party then they can look elsewhere.

Fake News. Gomez is on an extra year loan so if Lazio was ready to spend 10m on him it would be messy. cancelling loans

yep. agreed.  While I like the guy, goes against everything they've been saying.

So far we've done a great job being financially responsible.  Bennacer is going to start but if you can land Modric then you do it.  Krunic was going to be a bench player anyways

I think we'd all love Dybala but I see him staying at Juve

pretty much all of this

Also, what i would give to get our hands on Dybala. We should have done a deal with Juve, give them Gigio for Dybala.

Dybala would be perfect alongside Piatek

IF we miss out on Seri to Gala it's because we never really wanted him. Assuming the rumour's true
I don't see why we need Modric. He would be a luxury that we neither can afford nor need. If we need a mentor for our young midfielders, we could just keep Biglia. (In fact, I don't see him going anywhere anyway.)

I agree but you're talking going from 6th place to what if we signed him?

I still think we'll get 4th...just... but Modric might be the difference between guaranteeing 4th vs struggling for 4th.

We have more work to do this summer if we're getting 4th
