If I sum up, knowing the pitch is bad :
- Barcelona won during the group stage game. No complain.
- Barcelona didn't win last night. A lot of complains.

Is there any correlation between the result and the complains ?

Bonera slipped once and Messi could have been in on goal btu crossed it to no one (early in 1st Half) so it's same for both, I don't think our Squad liked it very much either as we were slipping all over the place. For God Sakes, Mesbah is on the floor more than standing

Abbiati was incredibly stupid to do that as Sanchez has no chance at the ball. He kicked it virtually out for a goal kick, and I think the Ref behind the Goal line knew this and didn't want to award a PK since there was NO chance to get near the ball. If the PK was given, I wouldn't have been in disagreement either.

Personally, outside of a win where we didn't concede, I think this is the best result we could have hoped for. Basically it leaves the tie in the balance, but all the pressure is now on Barca to play a great game at home to win. However, they will always be in the knowledge that any goals conceded leaves them in a nightmare position.

As for this match, we have much to take away from the game, as we played on par with Barca, even if the stats don't completely suggest that.

In the World, the point of Football is to score more Goals. In Italy, it is to prevent the other team from scoring

I thought we played them very closely. The end of the 1st half showed Barca pressuring us a lot with possession but also rather predictable play. Our positioning was near perfection. I thought we attacked well (always with 3 or 4 players), using high balls, long balls, and pace. There were a lot of missed chances we already discussed, and also Xavi has an open goal he missed as well.

Let's see who we'll have back for Camp Nou, and as long as Mesbah's off the field, we may be able to do it.

Abbiati was incredibly stupid to do that as Sanchez has no chance at the ball. He kicked it virtually out for a goal kick, and I think the Ref behind the Goal line knew this and didn't want to award a PK since there was NO chance to get near the ball. If the PK was given, I wouldn't have been in disagreement either.

Yeah, in the previous post I wrote that Sanchez pushed the ball away from goal, and in the direction about 45 degrees. Catching the ball was hard, and even if he could, turning more than 90 degrees to shoot would twist his leg really bad.

If that had been a penalty, I wouldn't have disagreed either, but there were reasons for not giving it.

Given how much space we gave Alves on that wing, I can see Guardiola sticking Cuenca or Tello out there to stretch the game a little more in the second leg. I hope Allegri has something in mind to counteract that. Guardiola probably won't bother playing Keita either..as he probably realizes that they didn't even need him in the first leg. When last has a team prevented Barca from scoring at the Nou Camp?

nevertheless the Ref was really poor and obviously he favoured Barca... key incidents were rough tackles from Puyol and Keita, and Mascherano latterly playing WWE with Ibra and not awarding Antonini atleast a free kick when he was being kicked by 11 Barca players... not to mention awarding a free kick whenever barca players raised their hands!!

btw, Barca players only proved Ibra correct when he called them "school boys" by whining whenever one of their players fell..

Sanchez should have shot that ball much earlier..as was the case when he was through 1v1 and decided to backheel the ball to Xavi instead (LOL). He must have been terribly nervous during that game or something. He'd normally bury those chances. Same with Ibra and Robinho...and those glaring chances they missed. I hope to see better football in the second leg..with Milan coming out on top of course .
