lmao, I can only imagine how awkward it was when he asked that.

A few rumours involved us recently. Kaka, as someone already mentioned, is linked with a move back. Not sure what to expect, but I think he'll be linked with us in every mercato anyway.

We're also linked with Eiji Kawashima (source is milannews), who plays in Belgium and the Japanese national team. I think has his contract is also expiring in the summer. He's not good enough for us, this much I'll say outright now. A solid shot stopper, but he is error prone and not really at all dominant in his area. If he does, I think it could benefit us in two ways. One is to get into the Japanese market (not that Kawashima's anywhere near as marketable as other names like Nakata, Nakamura, Kagawa and Honda), something we've been looking to do for a long time now. Secondly, if he is free, then it means we can sell Amelia to raise some funds for other areas of our squad.

Oh, and he'll take one of our non-EU spot. But it's worth it, I think.

with most our senators leaving we'll have a lot of free space for wages if we can keep the squad down to 26-27 players

By "specialists" you mean "football experts" or "specialist doctors"? Sagrin And who were they exactly? Just curious...
MILAN! MILAN! SOLO CON TE!
MILAN! MILAN! SEMPRE PER TE!
Kawashima is an okay keeper. I mean if Kalac was the 2nd string GK in Milan for a season or two, I really don't see how Kawashima cannot. Yes, he does take away a non EU spot but he will also opens up the South East Asia market, a market which is pretty much brand new for Milan.
I wonder something : how getting a GK can increase our merchandising ?

No disrespect to the guy, but do you often see people with the shirt of a GK from any team ?

Personnally, I don't ... So I don't think it opens a market. If we sign a defender, a midfielder or a striker, why not, but no way a GK will allow us to sell more shirts in Asia !! And if this GK never plays, it's even worse, as that won't make the Asian/Japanese medias talk more about us.

In an "ideal world" (regarding marketing), we should have signed Nagatomo, who isn't a bad player and who is as good as our LBs (maybe even better ?), when we could, and we should sign a guy like Bradley from Chievo (an interesting player who shines with his NT and who always runs with Chievo, I think he would fit our team). These both players could be involved in our results and as a consequence, they would help us to gain some more credit in Japan and the USA.

The other solution, and the one I prefer, would be to become again the best team in Europe by winning both domestic and European trophies during some years, no matter the nationality of our players, and that would open new markets to us ...
One should not speak ill of the dead.
So stop laughing at Juventus !

Agreed. Good player sells shirts. Period. It doesn't matter if he's good-looking like (Beckham) or not even close (Ronaldinho Grinundwech) if he's good enough (indicated by being played regularly) then he'll sell shirts. Not the other way around. How much US market share did we manage to get by having Onyewu anyway?

Geo, it really depends. The problem is a combination of these factors:

a) Goalkeeper
b) Wont get playing time
c) Isn't a quality or famous (star) player

I assure you that if someone like Buffon was Japanese, Giubentus would have a good Japanese/Asian market.

In this case though, it seems like this chap wont really have an impact on our Asian market. But he does occupy our non-EU spot, and that is what B&G are looking for.
Japanese player and "Asian" player can not be mixed really. Japanese player, even Serie B quality, will increase merchandise sales and for sure exposure by a lot. You would even get 10 new Japanese journalists following the team everywhere.

Would you say the same is true for a player who if lucky gets a match at the end of the season and in friendlies? (I'm assuming Abbiati and Amelia stay)

The are two kind of people in this world my friend, those who know quality players and those who know Neymer.

Seriousely, i think aside from Pele, only few MM members only rate Neymer highly in the whole universe. I would rather sign Peter Crouch than this over ratted next half Robinho.

Argentina will win the World CupĀ 2022

The difference in merchandise sales and exposure in Japan (only Japan) will be less than you might think (regular player vs 1 game per season)
