I don't necessarily disagree. But to say that he won't improve defensively is a little harsh imo. The reason he hasn't done so, like I said is because he is still where he was 3 years ago. That's why I said that he needs to leave PSV. At 22 years old, there is plenty of room for him to improve. As I said...I don't think he is good enough now. Hell, maybe he never will be. But he is very young and I think he has the potential to improve that part of his game immensely. It's up to him though. If he is too heavy to play football at 22, than maybe he just doesn't have the attitude and won't cut it.
About your comment about if the wingers don't cut in he won't be able to do anything when attacking...I agree. But no fullback in the world will be effective offensively if the winger doesn't cut in and open up the room. It's just a basic and fundamental movement of the winger in relationship to the fullback that's supporting him. I don't see that as a problem. If that movement doesn't happen, that would mean that the winger is the actual problem and not the fullback.
While on this topic, it's crazy how Holland hasn't produced many high quality defenders for years now. I've had my eye on Karsdorp for a little bit because I was initially impressed with him when I saw him in action with the National team. I've watched 4 Feyenoord games since, and the guy is absolutely terrible when defending. Almost always at the wrong position, bad at 1v1s, etc. Makes you wonder...what do they teach these young defenders in the Netherlands?! Karsdorp has immense potential as an attacking fullback...but he never will be a good fullback without at least some sense of defensive positioning and ability. He too will be swept under the rug if he doesn't learn that part of the trade. It just looks like if he wants to learn, he will have to leave Holland. Simple as that...as it looks like the Dutch schools are incapable of creating defenders these days.
I am from the Netherlands (btw I dont know of this is like this in every country) but because we appreciate footballing ability and quick and agile players so much every player that is scouted is a attacking player. Then they choose the best attackers out of those players and rhe rest will have to play in either defense of midfield. This is why we never see real defending (Italian style) defenders but rather weak and hesitating defenders who are good at build up play and passing.
Maybe I reacted a little bit harsh on Willems, I kust dont like him that much but thats also because Dutch people always overhype everyone and I hate it.

For example, in terms of CBs, at Bayern there's a situation that Hummels is first choice in CB with Martinez and Boateng fighting for a spot alongside him. Eventually Carlo will need to settle on a first choice pairing and these aren't players who'll want to be on the bench, so there could be a chance to get them. Thiago Silva's another whose future isn't certain at this point, again, a possibility of a short term pairing to help Romagnoli's growth wouldn't be a bad shout.
Verratti isn't an impossible case if you look at his situation, but even then, another very young but now proven and experienced talent that isn't getting games as he might want is Rabiot. Isco's another that's worth keeping an eye on, as at Real he's under constant rotation and a player like that surely might relish a starring role in a club like Milan (with 200m that you mentioned we would be able to back up a serious project). Bear in mind Real still have Kroos and Casemiro out, so Isco's space there will only further reduce.
Same up front, Aguero's situation at City is worth monitoring, but also guys like Morata and Benzema (who's role is already reduced this year), especially if the expected happens and Real get Aubameyang sooner rather than later.
With these names, you're immediately adding quality and experience to some areas we could use it. In defence, we lack the right partner for Romagnoli, in midfield we're still limited on a technical and physical level (never mind depth) and up front if Bacca leaves we're not exactly stacked with players of the highest level unless Lapadula can step up or someone like Niang explodes. Add a couple of market opportunities to get some talented players for a cheaper price, for example Fernandinho to come in and replace Kucka and Carzorla to add an alternative to Suso and depth (in place of Honda), and you can build a squad that has more talent than the current group, but also is much better prepared to play at a competitively high level. The names I've mentioned are solely based on recent discussions, rumours and things in the public eye. Guys like Mirabelli and Galliani should be a hell of a lot more clued up on potential market opportunities they can exploit to get top level players.
That's not to ignore looking at young talents and ignoring what you're saying. I've mentioned numerous times, we should look at our best talents at home first, trying to utilise the youth system to it's fullest. From there, I would like to see us focus on targeting the best young talents in Italy and around the world. My point is, it's trying to find the right balance. You can't just build around prospects, you need some experience and quality to help take on more responsibility for the immediate future. That's why as it stands guys like Bonaventura and Paletta have been so important for us this year.
Basically, if we have 200m, I say roughly half of that (maybe more) should be used on trying to get around 3 new players of the highest level to help improve our side immediately. What if the sale blows up (which is possible) and the €100m disappears and we see all or most of Bacca Suso Romagnoli Bonaventura Donnarumma sold...What would you do then ? I mean I may be jumping the gun but I have seen this movie before.
It may just be Silvio a hard on after the banner for the derby last week and trying to be the boss one last time...or it may be a bigger possibility that the sale will fade away like BeeGate.

I have concerns too and really hope this sale doesn't fail through. That post was in response to spending a hypothetical 200m.

I know that , just wondering what we do then. Its clear Romagnoli Donnarumma Bonaventura Suso will be on the outs.So what could we possibly do.
Aparently our "IL Grande" have plans to run himself one more time for italian primeminister if Strasbourg human rights court accept his appeal on 8 year ban from politics. In times like those he always spent a lot of money on Milan in past
Avaiting for arrival of exorcist into our boardroom.

Well, I think it's clear what we'll do.....
Still go for the same players that Dev mentioned.....we just switch our strategy to "loan with option to buy"...Galliani style!
And if that fails (of course it will).....than we go to plan B.....which of course is asking Galliani's agent friends to recommend players that our scouts have obviously never seen play before. Sometimes these players are a bit more expensive (more than 5mil), so we go to plan C....which is doing shady deals with Genoa and especially Raiola!
There we have it! A look into the future if this Chinese deal fails!
Yes, Plan C is we will sign Rincon finally
Don't forget about Pavoletti! We will state that we don't have the money to sign Keita Balde and he is too expensive at 25mil. Yet we will turn around and somehow dig up 30mil to sign Rincon and Pavoletti in a bundle deal.
