I guess I’ll hop on the Rangnick bandwagon. It does seem to be the right choice if you look at it from Elliot’s perspective (the only one that counts whether we like it or not). They need to change our model and start selling players. We may not win in a while but this is the right path to economic freedom and only after that will we have the ability to spend (all that limits i]us is FFP - not the ownership).
I do think we have a solid base and that we could qualify to CL next season if Rangnick gets his Italian in order and fits in faster. I do appreciate his work. He hasn’t won anything but he’s a proven football mind that has constructed whole clubs. He’s more than just a manager. He may not be that ace, but he’s a jack of all trades. A coach, a sporting director, headhunter and top scout. Patience with him will be needed and will be rewarding, but patience is a lost trait nowadays.
I hope Gigio, Paqueta, Theo, Bennacer and Leao stay. Would be really unpleasant to lose Theo if he wants to jump ship along with Maldini. I really hope Paolo decides to humble up and stay. Let him work around people like Gazidis, almstadt, Moncada and Rangnick. This would be a great crash course for Maldini to learn from experienced successful professionals. It is very important for his growth as a director for him to ignore his ego and stay.
Certainly a new ownership will one day come along and they definitely will want Maldini back. An experienced Maldini at that time would be much better than an inexperienced one who decided to jump ship because his friends got sacked/left. He has to let go of pride and stay. I hope he does.
