This wasn't the best match, but confirmed what I thought about both of these sides. France are a good side, but aren't at the level to realistically challenge for the world cup yet. They didn't really push Germany when they really should have taken the impetus and looked for the equaliser. While they look good against lesser opponents, they're currently lacking when they come up against a quality side.
Germany meanwhile are an excellent side, but I'm not at all convinced by their defence, even though Hummels helps a lot. They can be breached, which France did a few times despite a rather meek attempt to get back into the match. That said, Neuer has generally been at the top of his game in this tournament and he could be the difference between them winning and losing. His save against Benzema was outstanding, where he had an extremely strong hand to stop the shot.
