Over the last few years we have bought and sold a lot of players but not sold or bought Goal keepers. Now how about changing the keeper Dida or Abbati. Your opinions needed. If you want a change then who should be the new keeper write the name of the keeper and why him. If you do not want a change then why?
let me guess... dida is what 34??? ... everyone u should all know that GKs prime is in their 30's ... look at pagliuca for example, hes great, dida is the best in the world ... better than buffon hands down imo... this thread shouldve been started much later, many of u posters are rushing things, we dont need change, the more we change the more the players need to understand each other the slower we reach our best form. i can see dida going in the same form for almost 3-4 years... hes perfect, great in everything and hes very underrated i think... many dont notice this but his movement and positioning is just perfect, he may not be ur most flashy keeper but hell always do his job, always! besides whats the point of getting a new GK if hes gonna sit on the bench???... we saw abbiati sit on the bench for 1 year and he lost it all... the GK imo is one of the few positions that should be bought only when the GK is a starter!

I don't see any reason to change keepers.
Dida is one of the world's best and its hard to find someone who is better than Abbiati who will accept the bench.

Dida is good, but he is not the best in the world. I have to give that distinction to Buffon. He is simply superb. Best goal keeper in the world. You know who I think is a wasted keeper? Carlo Cudicini, he deserves to start at a big club, stupid Petr Cech, I like the guy, but Cudicini deserves more.
Cudicini is destined to end up playing for Milan one day. I hope he does come to play for us like his father.
As for Dida ... he is doing a fine job as it is and is good for another season at least so we don't need to ring in any changes right now. However when the time comes to wave goodbye to the big guy then Cudicini should be a top candidate for the job.
carlo cudicini WAS once at milan. was on the team roster from 1992-1994. dida is one of the top 10 goalies in the world no doubt. his technique has improve immensely over the past few years and elects to grab the ball in crosses and not punch them out. his holding skills have also improved and he is very imposing in goal.
If dida is not our goalie, i would look no further than our bench - abbiati. A good run of games will have him back to his best which is pretty damn amazing.
We don't need to change the keeper for next 2-3 years.Dida should be fine before that time.We should change when Dida is over 34 or 35.Who will place it?we'll know at that time

Welcome Masson :)
feel free to introduce yourself at the Presentations section
Dida will last another 3-6 years and then we'll see.
But as a second keeper we could get someone witha lower wage. Just buy the the best Serie b keeper and he's happy to sit on Milan's bench for 500k € a year.
Dida isn't injured/sent off all too often anyway.
keepers eepers peepers...everywhere everytime Manchester, Milano....:D
personally milan without dida in goal is like milan without maldini at the back... i think hes one of the 3 most important players we have, hes just amazing... but if theres a GK i would like to see deputise him, its gotta be sebastian frey... poor guy the parma defence is a wreck! hes just saving gtheir ass from another 10000 goals!

I think that we should buy pletikosa ,after Dida he will be the best goalkeeper for Milan.
We need another goalkeeper if the goal is 20 yards wide. :D

It`s not really possible to say which goalie is the best in the world - you can look at how many erros they make, but by far the most goalies in the top clubs does not make any mistakes that costs a goal.
Than you can look at saves, but you newer know if Buffon would have safed one that Dida missed.
So - Dida is a top class goalie - he is very strong on the line, and has also improved a lot in front of the goal.
So keep Dida .. and if Abbiati wants to stay let`s also keep him :D

why are we even thinking about this.....i just don't understand why we feel the need to have constant changeover within a team that for the better part of the last 2-3 years has been playing amazing.....if it ain't broke...don't fix it....
only if Abbiati decides to move we will need a new keeper, until that happens we are all set....besides, I doubt Abbiati will ever move, I hope he retires here.
I really like Dida's style of keeping. Shot stopping keepers get all the praise, and while Dida is a brilliant shot stopper, his main strength is how he totally dominates his box, it's wierd really, he was villified for making a dreadful error but these days he looks one of the most confident assured goalies in the world, the last guy you expect to make a mistake (though he still does, opening day of the season)
we're set for at least another 2 seasons
Maybe we should make Toldo our second goal keeper
dida is definatly the worlds best i think, hes not as flashy as buffon but he is more reliable i think, he is mre confident, hes better dealing with crosses, and at times it takes a di vaio shot in the derby (milan vs juve) to beat him, buffon can be beaten easier but i dont know why some players choke when they get the chance.
i hope frey stays with parma for another 2-3 years then he might get a chance to start with us if we buy him.
Both are fine, why on earth would you change something that works? If anything, i want to see Abbiati playing more...or he will decide finally to leave and then we'll be stuck finding a replacement of his caliber. :d55: That will be our downfall...
if he leaves then i hope we got some1 who accepts the bench yet can still play well.. like peruzzi or sereni of lazio, a goalkeeper i really like is pagliuca but i dont think he would want to leave his starting spot at bologna and be a bencher at milan
i think we shud sell abiatti for alot of money n find a cheap replacement, we r jus ruinin his career by keepin him on the bench
