Hi guys,

I missed the 1st half.

How did the crowed respond when they introduced our beloved Rijkard?

I know he was sitting on the " enemy" side yesterday but i am sure most of the fans remember his as a Milan player rather than Barc coach.

Best of luck Rijkard.

He has been called the most important acquisition throughout Silvio's reign at the club, whether or not that is true of course is debatable, but one thing is certain, he deserved that applause and I only wished I could've been there to participate.

Frankie Rijkaard :clap::clap::clap:

A well deserved reception for Frankie by the tifosi, even though Frankie was the one who "assisted" Kluivert's winning goal for Ajax in CL 95. :delol: Well, it was also Frankie's goal which won the CL (European Cup as it was known then) in 1990. :devf:

As to whether Rijkaard was Milan's best ever signing during Berlu's era? I agree it's debatable, but no doubt he was one of the most important and best ever signings. Rijkaard was the most important player under Sacchi's pressing style of play. A totally commited, no nonsense box-to-box midfield destroyer with great passing and vision (ditto for Carlo "The Terminator" Ancelotti). IMO Rijkaard and Ancelotti were the best central midfield pairing EVER, not just in the history of Milan but also club football in Europe. You can form your midfield duo from the likes of Vieira, Keane, Gerrard, Emerson or Gattuso and my money is still on Frankie & Carletto owning them. :grinser:

Sacchi failed for Italy because he had no Rijkaard to run his midfield for the Azzurri, and Ancelotti was near retirement by the time Sacchi was appointed as the national team coach.

It was a reunion of the best midfield pairing (though on the sideline) on Wednesday and Carletto came out on top. Let's hope it remains that way at the return leg at Nou Camp.
