This game will be played on Wednesday....we are 5 points behind Juve and we are playing at home, therefore a win is a must. Juve plays Roma, so they could drop some points there.

i wouldn't underestimate any team, but atalanta? we have no excuse not to get a full 3 points. even inter did. :smileani:

Even this is not Championship manager fresh legs maybe would be an advantage, as the last week have been very hard for many players. I would give Ambrosini a starter instead of Seedorf (Injuried?) and maybe opt for Rui Costa instead of Gattuso. Kaka as offensive and Shevchenko and Crespo.
In defense if Stam are ready maybe rest Nesta or Maldini
After 45 minutes if the results allow it, maybe take out Shevchenko and try a attacking formation without the ukrain - would be exciting to see how Crespo and Pippo would do it.

on paper our squad is very much better, even our subs. :D
playing against small teams really require superb physical condition, hence we should play Kaladze, Billy and Rui Costa. Ambro and Dhorasso would be good for 2nd half.
up front we will (still) count on Sheva to earn an early lead, maybe Pippo will company him.
btw, I still remember that f*ckin' 3-3 draw few seasons ago (02/03 season?)against 'em in San Siro.. even Paolo scored an own goal in the 1st minute.
Eventually we pulled level... thanks to Pippo who saved us with his 2 goals.

i would rather see Dhorasoo instead of Ambro also like to see Rui start. Not sure to the second striker problem, but we need a strike partnership established. Be nice to rest Paolo or Nesta, even bring in Costacurta!!!! Must win though, i am tipping roma for a point at least!!! be great to see albertini back at the San Siro, wearing the blue and black lol.

We must win this match to keep up the pressure on Juve. Atalanta are far from being a problem for us, unless we go in unprepared. This is the only worry I have for this match as we can be complacement against smaller sides.
I think its a good opportunity to swap around the midfield a bit and give some players a rest. Personally, I would put Rui in for Pirlo for this one match, Ambro for Rino (if necessary) and Dhorasoo deserves a chance to show what he can do, so it may be good to rest Seedorf as well.
Anyway, I'm sure Carlo already has some ideas and so I'll leave it to him and I don't mind as long as we get 3 points.

How good are Montolivo and Pazzini?
I dont get to see much of Atalanta but i know they are both decent youngsters. I suppose on paper this should be a walkover for Milan but i thought the same before the Messina game....
This game is a must win. Atalanta is at the bottom of Seria A, and we have to close the gap between us and Juventus.

What's the situation with Inzaghi?
Well I just read on the official site that Nesta is going to be rested for this match and that Inzaghi has an ankle inflammation and will have to rest for 2 days.
Stam had a tendon inflammation but he should be fit by Saturdays match. Haven't heard anything about Seedorf though...
he was holding his thigh remember in the derby, maybe best to rest it, hopefully Rui will take over from him! So the starting line-up be something like: Dida, Kaladze, Maldini, Costacurta, Cafu, Pirlo, Gattuso, Costa, Kaka, Tomasson, Shevchenko?
I'd expect Crespo to start. He needs the playing time to get back into game form and Ancelotti believes in him.
I agree with Shmikes' lineup, except that I think Crespo will start instead of JDT.

wow..so our central D should be our veterans Paolo and Billy...tts very exciting...the Milan veterans VS the Atalanta young guns...n y is dhorasoo still not in the line-up?...disappointed sia...however hopefully crespo will start again...n perform some magic to firmly peg his position in the milan offence.

like BaggioForever, I too am a little disappointed to not see Dhorasoo. I guess things aren't working out for him. Personally, I thought this match was a great oportunities for some squad players to play their part, but it looks like Carlo will go for almost the best team he can.

I am really worried about this game. I'm afraid of a drop in emotion/focus because of the 2 big games prior to this one. I have a gut feel that it is going to be an ugly game with Milan obviously winning but struggling quite a bit in the process. I know it is important to rest some guys but I would be a little weary of resting too many because this could be a golden opportunity to pick up some points on Juve. It's clear that Nesta is not playing and that worries me because you really notice it when he's not there.

I hate to jump to conclusions but it seems that in a goalscoring sense Tomasson is only working as a joker (typical Danish, growing expectations and what happens .... :rolleyes: ); of course it needs to be said that the assistance from behind has been lacking compared to last season and I guess Carletto keeps playing him since, even when he doesn't score, he's a useful team player.
Billy is a guarantee in central defence so he's an understandable solution. Still, it'd be good to see Colo get a chance some time soon.
