well, as for my football stories I'll leave that for another time as I need to get to bed soon.
I used to play football everyday, now I'm lucky to play 4-5 times a year :(

well, i play mostly indoor now, as at this time of year the pitches arround here resemble either mountains or swamps
My last team destroyed everyone we played for 2 and a half years before disbanding :(
I tried before to get a video from a team we played. They turned up to face us expecting to win and even brought a camera with them to record their victory :dielaugh: it got so humiliating that they stopped recording at half time and the final score was 16 - 1 to us :D I wanted the tape because 2 of the goals i scored were as good as any in my life but unfortunately they "lost" it....
Many of my earliest memories are playing football on the street in front of our house with all the kids from the area and the first games I remember watching were the 1982 WC games especially the famous Brazil-Italy game that year. Over the years I have played for fun with friends and also a few times in small school/university competitions.
I played when I was younger, I sucked bad technically but was allways bigger than the other kids so they put me to defend. To put it mildly, I was more like Materazzi than Nesta in style. I once got a yellow card for scaring a forward who had skillfully passed me. :)
When the others kids caught up with me phisically, I quit. Not much to be proud of, but I had fun while it lasted. :)
well, my father was a very good goalkeeper and he was always hoping for a sonthat he could teach football lessons. All he got instead was...ME !!!
So I have pictures of a little girl, age 3 or 4 yrs old, with a sweet pink dress and a kind of petticoat and white socks and two wounded knees, hahaha.
I had always wounded knees, as long as I remember !
Later I played in a team with boys (there was no ladies football) as defender.
I quit playing when I was 11, turned over to horseriding and hockey
Well, no matter what, my room has lots of reminders of my passion for Milan. On my closet door is a Milan scarf, on a hanger on the door knob is a tee shirt. On the bedroom door another scarf and on that doorknob is a knockoff Rui Costa Fiorentina jersey. (can't remove it or replace it, it's good luck) Hanging on one wall are a couple more scarves. My bulletin board has lots of pix of the team. On top of my bookcase are more pix and other little ditty things I've collected. In my closet are a couple jerseys, including my autied Maldini. My roomie has an Abbiati jersey on her doorknob and more scarves thrown over, plus a framed pic of Abbiati on a table and other little collectibles all about. My computer wallpaper at home is their ad campaign from this year. In my office at school, on the bulletin board, is a team picture. Just the small daily reminders.....
:3band:

Actually, I played as defender due to my abilty to read games, as I'm quite small so size isn't my strength.
Also played as a deep midfielder and out wide (wing back or winger).
Technically I'm not great and like I said, my size isn't an advantage, but I can defend quite well as I'm fairly hard to get past, get in decent positions and can hold up the opposition when I need support in defence. However, I do like to play in midfield as it gives a little more freedom and creativity.
I played as a "tap-in" striker when I was on hi-school, but mostly I was sitting on the bench. :D
once I played as a substitute, I scored twice. :rock3:
in the early year on university I broke my leg. so I quit "playing" football.
well here it is ladies and gentelmen... the story uve all been waiting for, i hope u like it, and from my experience its all worth it!
there was an indoor 5-on-5 (including GK) school tournament held at the baptist school, 3 teams each group and somehow after playing those 2 groupstage matches the winners of ewach group have a semi final spot and a best second placed team is chosen (uhm guess who?? the baptist shool :p1510: )... the first match we played, we came back from being 3-1 down at HT to win 8-4 in the end, and that was the best match ive played in a while, i was voted man of the match for it :rock3: the next match was against a school called the mutran where we need a draw or a win to go thru as leaders... we managed to win 4-2 and totally controled the game :w143:
we were the best team of the tournament and as a result we played the baptist school in the semi which was held on sunday, bad news is that its being played in their own home, so they have alot of fans there!... anyways game kicks off, we score first, from our goalscoring machine, nadeem, hes the tournament top scorer probably! then we go 2 up but they pull one back, but nadeem completes his hatrick before half time with a great shot from midcourt! but up to this point, the baptist school were playing like inter, bad tackling and diving and cheating... yet the ref is acting as if he isnt seeing **** :angf: and since he startd the game hes been calling nothing in our favour and instead everything in their favour (and im not exagerating :frustrat: ).... and m a football wacko, i take this very seriosly especially since we never manage to win anything despte the fact that we play well, we always go out of tournaments in the worse way possible :2whis: , so like i was saying i went loco right from the start, but my friend is begging me to stay calm and somehow i managed to cool off.
its the start of the 2nd half and i personally go to the ref and tell him, lsn man we all know their pushng and cheating so just give us the fair calls thats all what we want. and so the 2nd half starts after a good number of attacks by our team they start cheating more and more and they score a nicely built goal with a great finish really... and midthru the 2nd half, their star player is in our penalty area and hes known for his diving, so hes trying to shoot but i go down to block him, and i manage to do so... but guess what??? yes a pippo dive, everyone knew it was a dive the distance between my foot and his was like 1/2 a meter away!!! :wallbang: ****in ref!!! n e ways after i snap once more, they still manage to cool me off, and the baptist school score, i personally am playing in a very bad mood but it isnt affecting my play, its only harming my relationship with that friggin bald ref! at this point i couldve took out a glock and shot the ref, i wish i had one, u cannot believe how much i hate that ref!
time is passing by and were still the dominating team in the match but their dirty play and the refs biased desicions are making things look very impossible, 2 mins left and we go to penalties whoch seemed like the best chance to wn it despite the fact that weve been kicked out of tournaments before as a result of PK's. as i was saying 2 mins left and that S.O.B of a ref gives the baptst school a free kick that shouldve been handed to us, they play a high ball into our half and their star player seems to love to cheat so he very obviosly takes the ball down with his hand shoots, our GK just gets to it but it hits the post and falls right infront of their player who taps it in... and their fans go crazy, at this point not even saddam hussien could stop me from swearing at that ref, i went there and told him "so tell me? how much are they paying you??!?!" he takes out his yellow card and i say to him "oh great give me more colours!!!" he gives me a red and the whole team starts shoving me and telling me that what im doing is no good for the team and eventhough their right not even mother terressa could keep her cool if she was in my situation... and as i leave the pitch is just keep swearing at the ref, i lost it, im not even the bad boy type but i snapped!!! each time he passes by me i just swear at him like its southpark! ... the game is over and immedietly after that the whole team gathers around that prick and we start talking to him, my friend shouts at him and swears at him, and 2 seconds later u see this idiot running towrds us and starts punching my team mate, my friend who was calming me down saw him and grabes him by the head but the whole crowd just runs over us this huge fight starts, so i punch the GK (the retard who started the whole thing), i honestly have never been in a fight but i saved all of that for this one punch :r14: while my friend who grabbed him ends up fighting against 5 guys behind the goal, so my other team mate grabbes the GK instead and puts him on the ground and we all start kicking the **** out of him while u see the rest of their team still coming towards us (this took like 5 seconds) ... so its the GK on the ground beeing kicked to death :horny: my friend (rambo) fighting with 5 other guys, another team mate in the middle of the action just fighting with everyone, my team mate who was punched by the GK at first in a fight with another one of the guys who believe it or not had the balls to shove my friends mom!!! ... i on the other hand was grabbed by three security guys (who thought im the trouble maker of my team despite the fact that this is my first fight ever) and as much as i wanted to go back in, i couldnt, they wee all over me (i was looking for the referee by the way :nunu: ) .. this goes on for like 2 mins and thank god some of their supporters were smart enough to try to stop this... and they succeeded in doing so...our team leaves the school and alot of our stuff were stoled and ripped apart!
2 days later (last tuesday) .. we went back to play for 3rd place... sorry change that to we except for myslef went back to play for 3rd place, that because i had a red and had to sit and watch the game from the stand, we went there also to fight with their GK and the guy who pushed my friends mom especially, but after being lectured by our coach who turend out that he was about to be fired as a result of what happened, we chose not to do so, and we lost... on penalties :ilol: ... but we all know who deserved to win the tournament... it was such a horrible sceen but when u look back and think of it, its very funny actually... i never thought i would get so mad and that my rambo friend will end up fighting 5 guys... my school is... well how do i say this, slightly more spoilt and more westernized than all the other countries participating in the tournament but we ended up being the most notorious school as a result of what happened.. which is both bad and fun at the same time...
just thought ud like to hear what i said... thanksfor those who read the whole thing! please tell me what u think of the whole thing and if uve ever been in a similar situation!
oh .... this guy -----> :d55: shouldve been added somewhere there!
:hangover: the least u could do was to give a small comment after i had to go thru writing all that shiit!

lol :D that is a good story, its a good job you brought the thread back because otherwise i'd never have seen it...
Much as i dont condone violence :rocky: in football i do understand how you must have felt, i remember school rivalries well, its hard to lose under any circumstances, but to be cheated ?! maybe you can play them again next year? and get some proper revenge (through fair means of course ;) )
Its strange that in your story its a baptist team as the only time i've had a match abandoned it was in a game against a team from a local church
A friend of mine who knew a few of their team was leaving for a year in Australia so he arranged a friendly match between us and them as a sort of testimonial game. He brought a camera along to film the event, but within a few minutes it was clear they were ready to win at all costs. As it was a friendly we let them bring their own ref (stupid mistake :wallbang: ) and he gave them everything  they also had 1 player in central midfield who was being a total d*ckhead, trying to intimidate our players.
The first half ended 2 - 2 and me and our centre back heard their midfielder sayign he was going to break our no.12s legs. So we warned our no.12, my best mate Andy, that the bloke was after him. Sure enough, within 5 minutes of the 2nd half starting our keeper took a goalkick and as Andy was going for the header their player came charging in and knee'd him in the lower spine  Andy (who, unfortunately for their player is a regional kick boxing champ  ) grabbed him and smacked him 4 times :r14: at which point all hell broke loose....
After a few minutes things calmed down, their player (the troublecauser) was sitting down covered in blood (he had a broken nose) at which point the ref abandoned the match...As their guy was being taken to hospital we were talking to a few of them, who even admitted that their player did the same thing everyweek in the pub leagues, only this time he'd picked the wrong target :D
hahahhaa.... im pretty sure nobody messes around with andy after that incident....
i myself like i said have never been in a fight in my life... but... i completely lost it... its very unbelievable... if i was in ur situation i wouldve killed that guy really but in my case i cant blame the other team for what they did, it was the refs fault for cheating and giving them the calls when they shouldve gone our way... in football i take things very very veryyyyy seriously... friendly or not i must win and i always give my best and being a CB (last man) i have to be tough because if i dont any goal scored against us could be my fault... which reminds me, a day before that infamous match, our coach set up a friendly against the american community school (ACS) stupidly this game was played between the tournament which made us exhausted if anything, the ACS students are very unknown here actually, u never see them around in places nor do u ever hear about them, they are also made fun of at times and are considered kinda softer (u know arabs, were aggresive) anyways, we went to that picth aiming to win but save energy for tournaments game as well (like juve)... anyways, the game started off and both of us were playing simple football.... but they had this one guy who played very aggresive, im not lying he breathes like a ***, and he elbows and pushes and everything, i didnt lose it this time :w262: instead i played even more aggresive than he did :nasty: i was not in a mood to be pushed around.. during the course of the game he was about to shoot and this guy was really on my nerves, i slide to block the ball and i succeeded in doing so but i intentionally took him down as well  , my team mate at the back was even worse tan i was, he didnt move while the guy went down and the poor guys face hit my teammates knee :hihihi: ... i felt so relieved, that guy didnt mess with me aver since ;)
me and ur friend andy seem very similar right?! :delol:
by the way the baptist school doesnt have anything to do with religion etc.. its just its name, they happened to be fighting us and its very natural here in jordan... theres a fight every 2 seconds!
by the way, thanks for ur replies guys but im affraid i wont be replying for the next 2 weeks.. im off to see my parents in holland then to london, i hope to see this thread filled up with posts tho.... ciao!

However, I do like to play in midfield as it gives a little more freedom and creativity.
I can apply this exact same description to myself.
Anyways, I've got a story to tell, too. It's about my last season in High school, one of the greatest memories from my school, and certainly a great experience in my life.
Well, we our school had lost some important seniors that year, the first choice goalkeeper, all four defenders were new (including myself - leftback), and completely new strikers. The word in school was that our team was gonna be terrible, and nobody really watched our games at the beginning.
However, the season progressed, and we got better. We've always been the best team in our league, but this year we were lagging a little behind. Athenian took the Number one spot, as we lost once, and won on the return leg, but their goal difference was better, They won the league, so we went to playoffs, and surely when we faced Athenian, we defeated them twice with a 1-0. Our team was playing VERY well at this stage, and I we were ALL playing 100%
By this time, I had gotten my friend Sepehr to watch a few games. he was NOT a soccer fan before this. NOT A SOCCER fan. By the end of the season, he was our #1 fan, not to mention, he got a good 25 peeps to come to an away game in the final against Athenian.
So we advanced to the regional tournament, where we had to play away to a school 3 hours distance, driving, from home. Sepehr went to the school head, and demanded a van of school fans. He got his wish. We came out, Round of sixteen, and we had a crowd of a good 50 fans, the game was at 8:00 at night, under the lights. We won the game 3-2, and at the final whistle, some of our fans ran out to the field to celebrate. An unforgettable moment.
Quarterfinals, and the tie was with 1st seeded Marin Academy, Defending Champions of the tournament. They were definitely favorites, and one of their players played on one of the all american youth teams. We had a pep talk, and again, were greeted by school fans, yelling and shouting every moment of the game. Despite trailing 1-0, we defeated the team 2-0, and advanced to the semifinals for the second time in our school's history.
Finally, the semis, I had gotten way over my head. I was already thinking of the final match, winning it, taking a trophy, I was so excited. Again, we played at night. This time, Sepehr was able to rally up 100 fans to come and support us. Biggest turnout our school had ever seen, we were dreaming of only the best. By Half-time, we're tied, and the other team is giving in. We started dominating at the end of the first half.
By the start of the second half, we were dominating. We controlled the ball, and we were very unlucky not to score, our shots just wouldn't go in. However, after a ball was stolen in the midfield, I was running back to help out in the middle, when the ball was crossed into the area. I don't remember exactly what happened, but the ball ended up hitting my thigh, and alas, it landed in my own goal. The next few days were weird. I wasn't totally out of it, but It was depressing ****. I was in extacy with that soccer season, and my own goal ruined it for the rest. well, I guess good things have to end sometime
BTW, I'm telling this story cuz it's personal, and it's definitely something I won't forget. I don't know who's Read through the whole thing, but if you are reasding this, thankss
Despite trailing 1-0, we defeated the team 2-0...
Err.. I thought your team was trailing 0-1, how could you guys win 2-0? Isn't that suppose to be 2-1?
Nice story. Sorry to hear about the own goal though..

well b4 i used to play football as a Defender(RB,LB,CB),and there was a time that i play as striker, while i was in high school i used to play as a goal keeper while i was in a good form until i started playing and i was bench, one day our school coach suggested i should try playing as defender and it worked and that was my best position ever b4 i was injured and i stopped playing

Yo, I decided since this thread is here I might as well update my soccer team news. We will be playing a 4 team tournament tomorrow, Knockout round, so we'll see how well we do. The league is an adult league, and my team pretty much sucks, I'm the only legal US citizen on the team :rotfl: :rotfl: (TRUE STORY!), so the rest are old, mexican laborers, but we'll see what happens.

although i've grown up more to basketball than soccer, it's still been a huge part of my life. my father although in his 50's, still plays soccer one to twice a week, and used to be a soccer coach in former yugoslavia. this summer when i went to serbia, i played soccer with my uncles almost every day-although i wasn't very good, i still found it fun :tong: this year, i'm going to be playing intermural soccer at my school during the lunchhour (mini soccer tournament...you pick your own team). also, our boys soccer team were league champions last season, and their coach has made me the manager for this year. whieeeee. to top that, we're getting milan jerseys as our school team jersey's (since our school colours are red and black). :D
i'm still in my basketball season, but when it finishes (most likely monday), im going to start playing soccer with some of my friends and dad, for fun and to keep in shape.

wow, this thread has got more popular :D
Anyway, somethin new to report :)
Every saturday morning i play in a 3 team tournament where each team plays the other two 5 times in mini matches. My team has won almost every week so this week some new players had been invited to try and make things more even. Unfortunately one of these new players was a big defender called Mart who decided to man mark me in the matches :( he is a bit psychotic and has the theory that if a player is unconscious he wont score  anyway, after a gruelling sequence of matches we ended the tournament unbeaten with 8 wins and 2 draws, i even managed to be top scorer still, despite the treatment i got :frustrat: but i also got smacked in the jaw (by accident  ) and now i cant eat properly...........

Love chewing gums? Avoid Singapore by all means then :grinser: it is banned there (not sure if still, but it was still banned 2 years ago).
Time to tell my story then; Hopefully doens't bore you guys..
Honestly, I prefer "Street Soccer" rather than real football on the football field. One reason is that I don't wanna risk my asthma, and I can't run very fast either. :grinser:
Firstly, I am a very lousy soccer player, either on the field or the indoor ones. I was not born with the skills and quick feet, vision of a playmaker, hard tackling, or simply put, I am not blessed with skills and physical ability. The only asset I've got is that I pack quite a strong shooting and I could "bent" the freekicks (not accurate, but trust me I could bent it ok! :grinser: ) Oh, by the way, it was years ago, now I don't even play anymore :(
My first encounter with "street soccer" is when I was a primary school kid, and play the game with tennis ball :devf: Then when I pursue my study in Singapore, I was engaged with the game further and almost everyday my classmates and I went to play soccer after schools. Beside proper "stadium" at the local Community Centre, we usually play at the basketball field.
There is a memorable "goal", which I have scored and IMO, it was quite good. I receive a lob pass from the side of the basketball court, first-time-volley it and the ball hammers the basketball pole and bounce back towards me; then I "accidentally" (instinct perhaps :grinser: ) did another volley, past the head of the guy who is standing in between the poles. The ball was sooo hard, everyone was shocked, and as the result, since that day my friends call me RvN. :grinser:
As I said earlier, I was not a very good player, so I would not be able to tell much further here. Besides, I know you are already sleepy :D

 well i understand why, i hate standing in chewing gum  maybe they should outlaw dogs as they leave mess on the pavement too :D
hitting the ball hard is a great skill to have though :D maybe you should try Rugby, beign able to smash the ball over the bar is considered a talent in that sport ;)
nice to see that this thread is working well after its "rough start" great stories guys i enjoyed them all. ill cmment more here later i gtg now
