View Full Version : AC MILAN - AS ROMA (pre-game comments)
Big match! :firedev:
Nedlees to say we must get all 3 points, either to get closer to Juve or at least stay within touch of them.
I would like to see both Sheva and Crespo upfront with Kaka behind them, and a midfield composed by Pirlo, Rino and Rui/Seedorf....and our usual backline (Cafu, San Paolo, Nesta, KK).
post all your comments, probable lineups, anything.....FORZA MILAN!!!

ok 1st up...i hope Ancelotti wouldnt b using his 4-3-2-1 formation anymore...its totally useless against the offensive Barca...we should stick back to the 4-3-1-2 so as to lighten the pressure off Shev...Crespo should start ahead of Tomasson after a gd rest during the UCL wk...
The backline should remain however Pancaro could start ahead a disappointing Kala during Wednesday...i hope Cafu's broken tooth during the Barca match isnt going to affect his performance :delol: and should well start..
The midfield should however bring Seedorf on instead of our super-sub Serginho...Seedorf brings a sense of assurance on the left as he wont rush to counter un-neccessarily (unlike Ginho) but sometimes he do TAKE HIS TIME to attack which is pretty frustrating... :rollani: however when there is a good chance to counter, Seedorf will b up to the task thus he should start...Ginho is best remained as a super-sub for the much needed pace late in the game.
Our attack..i guess Kaka should take a rest..the series of starting play he had played def took its toll during the Barca maatch...he wasnt making much of an impact..thus Rui could make up the attack mid role...
We will be playing @ home agianst a re-juvenating Roma side...Montella and Totti r on form...altho Cassano seems out-of-favour with Del Neri...their 2-striker policy will def pose some problems for our defence...however..their defence could prove too easy for our attack too :D ..so a 2-0 win for milan will be sweet~ :w200:
Forza milan!!~~~
This is a make or break game, if we lose it could be the beginning of a poor Seria A campaign.

Roma were held at home tonight so they wont go into this match with massive confidence. Totti looks to have made another of his petulant fouls too, i may be wrong as i've only seen it once but it certainly looks like he made a deliberate stamp on a Leverkusen player
They are a decent side though, and beating them will be the perfect way to bounce back from the Barca game :D

Yes! An absolute deliberate double-footed stomp on Carsten Ramelow! An instant red card! When Ramelow went in for the tackle (fair one IMO), Totti jumped over him in an attempt to avoid the tackle but landed with both his feet on the arm and ribs of Ramelow. Phucking cynical!! :angf: It's ironic that Ramelow, the innocent party, got booked after a shuff-up with Totti right after the incident. It's unlikely that video evidence will be reviewed as the referee (Lucillo Baptista) has seen the incident and deemed it "accidental". That's means Totti will escape a possible 3 match ban. :v46:
BTW, the best goal in the CL of Match Day 8 is scored in this game, what a piece of genius by Berbatov :eekani:
With Roma virtually out of Europe now, I'm afraid there might be a CL backlash this weekend, let's hope I'm wrong. Carlo will tinker with his lineup again and I'm certain we will play with 2 strikers: Sergio, Max, KK out; JDT/Crespo, Clarence, Panca in.

really need to pick up max. points in the game against roma. First of all , to keep up with juve who seems to be very consistent. Second , a victory is the only thing tht can give a morale boost to the players after a mediocre performance at spain.
I m sure the formation fielded wont be as defensive and unorthodox as the one on tuesday. Only for matters to get worse , inzaghi and stam seem to be out longer than expected. So the team is short on options. Relying on sheva too often may prove costly for us once sheva loses his form ( god Forbid)
Anyways as far as sundays match is concerned , i can see milan clinching it even though it will be an evenly contested match. :3band:

As much as I agree with many of the posts that Kaka should be rested for this game, I doubt Carlo will do it, I think he plans to play Kaka until the poor young man burns himself out.
He is obviously suffering from increased attention this term, and looks to be trying too hard when he is on the ball. Rui would be my pick, along with Seedorf, Brocci and Pirlo. Did I say Brocci? :1d31: YES! :1d31: He seems much better going forward than Gattuso, and tackles just as hard.
Crespo and Sheva to start, and our backline could do with the insertion of Colo, who had a rather non descript start to his Rossoneri debut, but looked much more comfortable when shifted over to left back. Nesta and Maldini are my choice for the 2 centre backs. Who to play on the left flank? If Cafu is better, he could start, though I prefer Pancaro's defensive ability. Cafu and Kaka could be our 2 super subs, if Carlo doesnt insist on playing them from the start.
I do believe we will win this match, as Juve are certain to beat Reggina, and we need to stay in touch with the "old lady". :delol:
I was at this fixture last season in May, I wish i was able to go sunday aswell. unfortunately not as i am very busy in college (last year) and my friends are too so it is not looking too good for me going to milan this year except for maybe the last game of the season against udinese.
Back to the match I think it will be a tough game and hopefully we will win. as regrds kaka I would play him as roma had a lot of difficulties with him last season. he probably does need a rest soon but maybe the next match. we cant afford to rest players against roma.
Giovanni are you going to the match? Do you think there will be trouble in the stadium again after last season. It was like a war off the pitch aswell then.

not inside, but around the stadium for sure. you must know that, near the away supporters gates, there's a small bar where sometimes i go to have a couple of beers, which is notoriously the Ultras Bar (in the map between the orange and the green section outside the stadium). i tell you what happens: the Milan Ultras wait there, and then face the other Ultras in the place in front of the bar..the last year i was a bit far, near the 216, 217 gates (therefore still outside) because there is a ramp to fool the staff and get inside the second blue without the proper ticket..i saw a great noise and people running throught the narrow orange gates street, and for sure there were charges outside

the next time i am over i must go to that bar, was never in it. I would not rule out trouble again in the stadium if we are winning, you know the way the roma supporters are. I hope they are properly checked this time going in after throwing stuff at dida and gattuso last season. I had actually had a two litre bottle of water with me in a backpack and was made take off the plastic top going in. Double standards!
anyway enjoy the game i would love to be there but at least ill see it live on tv anyway. i have a mid term exam monday so i have to study all day sunday except for 2 hours for the milan game.

No Peace Between Delneri And Cassano.
...
The Roma coach does not seem intentioned to call-up the former Bari player for Sundays game against Milan, despite having to play the match without in-form striker Vincenzo Montella who suffered an injury on Wednesday night during the Champions League encounter against Bayer Leverkusen.
For this reason, Delneri will field either Mido or Corvia alongside captain Francesco Totti as Cassanos present and future seem far away from Roma...

From juventuz.com :D :
Juventus had two goals disallowed and a clear penalty denied as they lose their unbeaten record to relegation strugglers Reggina.
Fabio Capello rotated the squad once again, as Alessandro Del Piero was benched in favour of Marcelo Zalayeta, while Gianluca Pessotto replaced the injured Jonathan Zebina. The decision to rest Del Piero might also have been affected by the appalling state of the Stadio Granillo pitch.
Reggina were forced to do without the suspended Mozart, as the midfielder failed a routine drugs test for a substance the club claims was contained within an anti-mosquito bite cream. Salvatore Soviero made his Serie A debut in goal, making his comeback after a five-month ban for punching members of the Messina bench during their Second Division encounter with Venezia.
Juve quickly took control and Gianluca Zambrotta's cross-cum-shot whistled across the face of goal. Zlatan Ibrahimovic also had a good chance, but the visitors were in for a shock.
After just 12 minutes Reggina took the lead with an extraordinarily fortunate goal. Fabio Cannavaro cleared the ball straight at Giuseppe Colucci inside the area and it ricocheted off his hip to loop over a stranded Buffon. It was the first goal Juventus have conceded on their travels this season.
However, the lead didn't last any longer than 90 seconds, as a terrible defensive error from Gaetano De Rosa allowed Ibrahimovic to steal the ball and thump a low drive into the near corner.
The Swede was particularly lively and battled his way through two defenders before a third managed to close him down on the edge of the six-yard box.
Soviero smothered Zalayeta's shot, but the Amaranto were again lucky to restore their lead on 25 minutes. A powerful razor-sharp Marco Zamboni free kick took a slight deflection off Manuele Blasi to push the ball past Buffon. Zamboni is a former Juventus player and made his Serie A debut with this club in 1997.
It was an action-packed first half, as Emerson's delightful lob floated just over the crossbar.
Reggina felt Lady Luck was behind them and Emiliano Bonazzoli's long-range strike was fingertipped round the post by Buffon. Moments later Zamboni's cross beat everyone, including Bonazzoli, who only needed to stretch to put it in.
At the other end Zambrotta's floated cross had a similar effect, with panicked Reggina defenders able to clear from Mauro Camoranesi at the back post.
There was controversy on 37 minutes, as Jacopo Balestri clearly handled in the box, but the move continued and Soviero performed a fine save on Emerson's strike from the edge of the area.
The Amaranto certainly did not batten down the hatches and Cannavaro required an acrobatic header to prevent Bonazzoli latching on to Balestri's cross.
Bonazzoli and Manuele Blasi had long range efforts smothered as the shots kept raining in from all angles at both ends of the pitch.
It was definitely not Juve's night, as at the start of the second half Zalayeta's powerful header on a Zambrotta cross thumped the outside of the post with Soviero static.
Camoranesi's effort was deflected off De Rosa, again possibly with an arm, and on the resulting corner Soviero smothered Cannavaro's header.
Ibrahimovic thought he had drawn level again on the hour mark, but the referee had already blown the whistle earlier for an elbow on Ivan Franceschini inside the box. Contact was made, but how intentional was unclear.
Soviero was at full stretch to turn an Ibrahimovic cross-shot round the post as the siege intensified. Fabio Capello needed to spice them up and threw on Alex Del Piero and Ruben Olivera for Zalayeta and Pessotto, moving Juventus to a three-man defence.
There was bad news for the Amaranto, as Giuseppe Colucci hacked down Olivera for his second bookable offence, so the home side had to play the remaining 17 minutes in ten men. It was an avoidable incident, as his first yellow card was for removing his jersey in the goal celebrations.
Olivera saw Soviero off his line and thumped an effort just wide from almost 30 metres out, then Del Piero's scuffed half-volley bobbled past the post.
The Reggina goalkeeper punched a free kick off the head of Ibrahimovic, but the home side also had a good chance when Buffon blocked Davide Dionigi's snapshot.
There was panic in the Amaranto box during stoppages when Soviero twice fumbled a harmless cross, but managed to get it back under control before Ibrahimovic could pounce.
There was one more incident to go, as in the final minute of stoppages Juventus seemed to draw level. Substitute Olivier Kapo sprung the offside trap and chested down the ball before rifling it into the far corner, but after several tense moments of consultation with the linesman, the goal was disallowed for a handling offence.
I ma happy to see them worring

Great result for Reggina and us today!!
Now we have our opportunity to take advantage and close the gap on juve.
As for Roma, I'm not afraid as its a big game and Roma aren't as fearsome as last year. In fact, I would go as far as to say most of our matches in recent weeks were far more difficult than Roma should be(ie Barca, Inter, Calgliari and even Samp).
I expect nothing less than a Milan victory tomorrow!
FORZA MILAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was out for a movie and I reached home to find the scoreboard Reggina 2 The Old B!tch 1 :eekani: :haha:
The match against Roma is a must-win! :firedev: Not forgetting it's a Roma team without Montella and Cassano.
Paparesta was Juve's best player! :devf:
Forza Paparesta! :1ole:
If the match was played in Turin Paparesta would have needed police protection to leave the stadium... Or maybe not, cause we know Juve fans never watch games at Delle Alpi. :neww:

Yeah lucky us Paparesta made the wrong decision by trusting the linesman. It was a correct goal though. I just hope Milan beat Roma tomorrow, which I really doubt :(. I really love Milan, but the game with Barca has really let me feel down. If Milan line-up the usualy lineup, im predicted that Sheva will score against Roma, and so will Crespo! Remember, the game against Roma last year was the turning point for Milan, i just hope its the same this year.
juve lost, juve lost, juve lost, juve lost, juve lost.
hahahahaha
about time they didn't get the refereeing decisions. a win here is a huge step as we are playing much harder opposition than juve and if anything would be expected to lose ground. but now we can gain.

I think 2 players were offside, Zlatan and Kapo but I dunno, maybe I was wrong?
But it doesnt matter, we should took 3 points against roma.
if we correct our lines and play with 2 striker then we are going to
win I would say (1-0) or (2-1)
our goal will be sheva-sheva and roma goal will be montella
or totti .
froza Milan
Nesta is in the squad.
Just checked the Italian part of the site.
Goalkeepers: Abbiati, Dida.
Defenders: Cafu, Coloccini, Kaladze, Maldini, Nesta, Pancaro, Costacurta.
Midfielders: Ambrosini, Brocchi, Dhorasoo, Gattuso, Kaką, Pirlo, Rui Costa, Seedorf, Serginho.
Attackers: Crespo, Shevchenko, Tomasson.
juve for once dont get the controversial decisions their way good omen for the weekend.
I have a bad feeling bout this game, hope im wrong. With so many injury worries for Roma and with th Juve defeat boosting Milan's confidence im worried we might think we have 3 points in the bag!!! But i want to thump Roma, I really hate them more than juve and Inter. As for starting line up - N Dida; G Pancaro, A Nesta, P Maldini, M Cafu; A Pirlo, C Seedorf, G Gattuso, R Kaka; A Shevchenko, H Crespo?
acmilan.com
"GAZZETTA SPORTIVA: MILAN-ROMA, PROBABLE LINE-UPS
07 November 2004 11:58
MILAN: Dida; Cafu, Nesta, Maldini, Pancaro; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf; Kaka; Shevchenko, Tomasson.
ROMA: Pelizzoli; Sartor, Ferrari, Dellas, Mexes; Mancini, De Rossi, Aquilani, Cufrč; Totti, Montella. "
We're back to our old lineup and it looks like Montella is going to play today.
La Gazzetta lineup looks good, except that I think Crespo will start instead of JDT. Panucci still out of the squad, same for Cassano....both good players, but Roma is still good nonetheless....whatever happened to Chivu?? injured? bench?

On the official site three of the papers say Tomasson will start and the other three say Crespo but I think you're right, Ancelotti will probably give Crespo a chance and I hope he will score his first goal for Milan in this very important match!
