aah..yes, Iron Maiden. Brings back the memories of the "real" metal bands before it disintegrated into grunge and what-have-you. My favourites were
Rime of the Ancient Mariner - musical interpretation of Coleridge's long epic ballad of the same name. I guess if Coleridge were to transform his spooky poem into song, I guess Iron Maiden would do it justice.
Phantom of the Opera - another adaptation from literature that is of value, Leroux Gaston's classic novel of the same name; I liked the introductory riff to that song.
Hallowed Be Thy Name - the disillusionment of life and death isn't that beautiful either; feeling of helplessness in the eyes of the general society (and power)
Die With Your Boots On, Aces High, 2 Minutes to Midnight, The Trooper, Where Eagles Dare - all of the songs depicting the atrocities of war and how the powers-that-be delight in the killing activities
...and also, I loved Helloween (Dr. Stein, Future World, Keeper of the Seven Keys, etc.)
Great 80s!!!
I just learned about Helloween this week. I bought their best of, I never heard of their music before and they can put in line with Iron Maiden, but I prefer Iron Maiden a bit though.
Faith no More started in the 80's. Who cares a lot, epic,... . The first cd of Pantera-Cowboys from hell. (1990) Ok, don't look at one year ;)
Sepultura had some highlights in the 80's too.
Bon Jovi's old songs?? hmm...
Runaway
99 in the shade
Livin' on a prayer
and more..
there were also good old bands like Rush, King Diamond, DURAN DURAN!!!, Toto etc.
last year I attended HELLOWEEN's concert. pretty good performance it was, tho several members were changed. no more KISKE, WEIKATH and the late Ingo..
