Goirre
07-11-2004, 15:14
Totti shoots....but way far from target....from what the Rai commentators say, Cafu seems to be our more dangerous player so far....

Goirre
07-11-2004, 15:15
JDT almost scores!!! but he misses! damn......Forza JDT!

Great start.
Thanks Gorrie for the updates!

Goirre
07-11-2004, 15:26
good move by Milan....but Kaka decided to make it all by himself instead of passing to Sheva who was alone....plus, yellow card for Kaka for simulating a foul

Goirre
07-11-2004, 15:28
Milan is definitely the best team so far....we scored one and missed a couple already....better finish this off in this first half

change in Roma (this early?): De Martino in, Del Vecchio out....Del Vecchio is not injured, so this is a tactical move

Goirre
07-11-2004, 15:32
Roma tries to puch forward, with Totti taking the lead...but nothing dangerous so far.

Milan doesn't stay behind, we are attacking too, both Sheva and JDT look dangerous now....but JDT is missing some chances...

Goirre
07-11-2004, 15:34
Totti is so far Roma's most dangerous player but Nesta is taking good care of him ;)

Goirre
07-11-2004, 15:39
Kaka is trying from outside Roma's box....but nothing so far
Montella pushes forward...but San Paolo and especially Nesta are very solid so far

Goirre
07-11-2004, 15:41
dangerous free kick for Roma....Totti is going to take it.....shots! and nothing....

Goirre
07-11-2004, 15:41
these minutes it is an even match....Roma is back in the match

Goirre
07-11-2004, 15:44
Totti comes close.....both Totti and Roma and getting into the match after being dominated by Milan in the first minutes

Goirre
07-11-2004, 15:46

Aquilani shoots! too high, Roma keeps pushing forward in these last minutes...

Goirre
07-11-2004, 15:53
free kick for Milan...Pirlo takes it!....still 1-0

first half is over! Milan leads 1-0 with a Sheva goal (assist by Cafu)

Milan dominated the first minutes...but Roma started playing better in the last 15-20 minutes, Totti, Aquilani and Montella looked dangerous. On our side, seems like JDT missed some chances....will we see Crespo in the second half??

FORZA MILAN!!!!

Channel4 haft-time report:

"Andriy Shevchenko has given Milan a deserved half-time lead against Roma in a fiery encounter.

The Giallorossi have a poor record at the San Siro, last beating Milan here in 1987, while they were forced to reshuffle their squad due to injury worries. Simone Perrotta and Olivier Dacourt were out, while Christian Panucci and Antonio Cassano were officially outlawed as a disciplinary measure.

There was at least some good news, as Vincenzo Montella recovered in record time from an ankle injury to start, while Marco Delvecchio was surprisingly fielded out wide on the left.

Milan also had problems with Jaap Stam and Pippo Inzaghi undergoing ankle surgery this week, while Jon Dahl Tomasson was chosen to partner Andriy Shevchenko.

There was panic in the Roma area after 60 seconds, as Kaka charged into the box and was only stopped by a perfectly timed Matteo Ferrari tackle. Moments later Marcos Cafu ran on to a splendid Andrea Pirlo pass and placed an angled drive past the post.

Roma fought back and Montella took on the entire defence by himself, firing over the bar.

The deadlock was broken after just six minutes, as ex-Roma legend Cafu charged down the right flank and floated in a cross for the totally unmarked Andriy Shevchenko to nod in from eight yards. Both central defenders naturally gravitated towards Tomasson and ignored the Ukrainian's run.

The Roma defence was shaky and Paolo Maldini turned a Pirlo free kick over, then Tomasson sprinted past Traianos Dellas and placed his shot well wide.

Francesco Totti's intelligent through ball to Aquilani was intercepted, but Milan continued to look dangerous with Cafu given remarkable freedom. He pulled back for Shevchenko to balloon over the bar when Kaka might have been in a better position to score.

Kaka ran into the area and fell over Leandro Cufre's challenge, but the Brazilian was correctly booked for simulation as contact was minimal at best.

Delvecchio had his first start of the season, but it lasted just 21 minutes, as Gigi Del Neri replaced him with youth team product De Martino. It was a tactical choice, as Delvecchio was repeatedly losing Cafu down that flank.

Dellas rose to meet a Totti corner kick and Montella failed to redirect it past Dida by a matter of inches, then Tomasson's angled drive was deflected off target and the Dane was put under pressure by three defenders to fire wide.

Kaka is not on good form at the moment and wasted another good opportunity, while Totti fired a couple of long-range efforts well wide of Dida's goal.

There was panic in the Rossoneri area when a strange bounce took the defence by surprise, but first Montella and then Aquilani were unable to take full advantage of the situation."

Milan missed several chances to add to their 1-0 lead, but I'm satisfied with the 1st half display overall. Just keep playing the same way and the 2nd goal will come.

It's half time now so I'm switching channel to watch the explosive River - Boca game. :grinser:

We had alot of blown chances..and 1-0 isn't secure enough.

1-0 is the least we could have gotten from the 1st half. Lack of concentration at the final stage has been our biggest problem for the whole first half. Anyway, Milan rules the field.

nevermind my last comment, River just scored :D

not that I am happy about it, I really don't like them, I don't like Boca either, but I prefer Boca over Rover by a mile, so GO BOCA!.....but honestly I couldn't care less for that match right now.....

1-1, great timing to take Sheva out! seriously, unless Sheva was injured I don't see why Carlo did that for!

it is Crespo's time to deliver! Go Hernan, Go JDT!

Jim_UK
07-11-2004, 16:15
this is just ****ing typical of how my weekend is going ..... players who make "remarkable" recoveries always seem to play well in the game they should miss. The guy wasn't even supposed to play yesterday and now he's got his team level. Once again we've been made to pay for missing chances. I know there's plenty of time left, but you know ... this game should have been over by now.

Eurosport says it's because Shevchenko has tight calf muscles and he needs rest.

MILAN comes close!! Pelizzoli saves!

Goirre
07-11-2004, 16:19

Crespo heads over the bar from a Pancaro cross. Come on Crespo !

Goirre

Eurosport says it's because Shevchenko has tight calf muscles and he needs rest.
if that's the case then it is ok.....Crespo must start scoring today!

Goirre
07-11-2004, 16:22
Come on MILAN!! we had to finish this off in the first half....now it will be interesting to see if JDT and/or Crespo will deliver when we need them most....I wouldn't complain if Kaka scores either ;)

Jim_UK
07-11-2004, 16:22
Cafu cracks in a shot, Pelizzoli with the save ... good chance there. Kaka falls to the ground a bit easily, already booked for diving he has to be careful not to get red-carded. Rui might be in for him soon.

Goirre
07-11-2004, 16:23
I'm sure having Rui in wouldn't hurt us either ;) ....maybe for Seedorf? or for Kaka?

Now seems like Milan is back in the match...hopefully we will score soon!

Goirre
07-11-2004, 16:24
San Billy Costacurta is about to go in....hopefully not for Cafu...

claupau
07-11-2004, 16:24
well if it's because Sheva needs rest then it's ok but OMG we need him cuz nobody else seems to freaking want to score for us....so annoying!!!!

Jim_UK
07-11-2004, 16:26
Another good chance missed. Pirlo swings in a free kick from the left, falls in the box ... Kaka's shot is blocked, Crespo heads back across goal where Tomasson is but Mexes gets it away ....... COME ON MILAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goirre
07-11-2004, 16:27
the match is exciting, both teams pushing forward....

San Billy in, Pancaro out...

Jim_UK
07-11-2004, 16:28
Milan lacking the pace of the 1st half, Mancini's moved to the left to give Cafu more to think about and stop his runs.

Goirre
07-11-2004, 16:31
San Billy now partners Nesta in central defense, San Paolo moved to the left

Rui in, Seedorf out....GO RUI!!!

Jim_UK
07-11-2004, 16:32
Kaka bursts through the middle plays it to Tomasson, but he takes to long and the ball is taken off of him ..... god dammit !!!!! Get your act together !

Goirre
07-11-2004, 16:32

Goirre
07-11-2004, 16:46
