View Full Version : A little story

I thought I'd post a little story I told a couple of friends lately. I've decided to put it up as it can relate to Milan at this point of the season, but I decided to put it in the members paradise section, as it can be looked at in other ways. Anyway...

Once, two men entered a bar. One man was loud and brash, always trying to impress others and looking to meet new people. The other was quiet, almost never saying a word unless spoken to.

Naturally, the loud man became friends with many of the local customers while the quiet man sat, simply having his drink.

The loud man showed his new friends his various skills and abilities, impressing them and earning respect. The quiet man didn't earn such respect.

However, when the loud man made mistakes, the people lost all confidence and respect that they had for him, as they were disappointed that a man they looked up to so much could make such mistakes.

The quiet man by this point had also gained some new friends, people who had an interest in finding out about him. He also began impressing people with what he could do, but unlike the loud man, he would show his abilities in times when they were necessary, rather than boasting about them.

When the quiet man made mistakes, people never lost respect for him, as unlike the loud man, the quiet man never led people to believe he was great and someone they should admire, but simply showed them who he was.

I hope you guys like my little story. Its up to you to decide what it is...as it can be just a story about two men, it can be a story about football, it can be a story about something else altogether or it can just plain cr@p, thats for you to decide.

:)

If an allegory for football, the quite man is Lecce and the loud one Inter. One claiming to be in the scudetto race, the other claiming to try to avoid relegation. The modest team being in 4th place and our ugly cousins in 6th...

Nice story, and VERY true. I've got a question though, what was the original reason for which you posted this story?

errm...I posted it simply out of interest to see the replies I would get and of course as mentioned, it can be related to football and specifically Milan.

I won't say how though, as I'd prefer people to have their own opinions and thoughts about the little story (kinda like how Henrik came to his own conclusion)

it is interesting i agree... maybe its because of the fact that it has its own thread and wasnt mentioned during a discussion in an another thread

wow thanks I feel proud :proud:

errrm...I tend to just conjure these up randomly in my life, so I might just post other ones that come into mind sometime. I know its strange that random little stories come into my mind, but I guess I'm just a bit weird.

Just out of curiousity, what exactly did the both of them drink while at the bar? :)

Well, I have a new little story now...

A man was once feeling down. His reason for this was because he felt that he had no power in his life.

The power he desired was a kind that would earn him respect and love from those around him and so, he desperately seeked to gain this power.

As he continued to search for such a power, an old man told him of a rumour he had once heard. The old man said, "I once heard of a gem, that grants its owner the greatest power of all". The man enquired about how to get this gem, to which the old man replied "its atop a steep mountain".

With this vague information, the man went to every mountain across the land, searching for the gem, but all he found was the cold and empty snow covered peaks at each mountain.

Finally, he reached the final mountain, which he began to climb. Tired, the man struggled up the mountain, driven by determination and a desperate desire for the gem and the power it gives.

When reaching the top, the man found nothing. Disappointed with this, he made his way down, when he found a notepad on the floor. Opening the notepad, the man began to read.

It turned out the notepad was a journal written by someone on the same journey and when the man reached the end, he realised the reason he couldn't find the gem was because the owner of the journal had found it before him. He began to cry in despair at reading this, but then he read the final statement, to which he smiled at. The statement read...

"The gem I have found has made all of my dreams reality. I realise now that this is not the only gem, but in the world there is at least one gem for each and every man. To gain the power of the gems, each man must earn the power by giving his own power. Only by doing this can a man have a gem of his own".

Hope you guys liked it :)
