She certainly has more of a voice than JLo, Mariah Carey and alot of the female vocalists who are so over-produced and ALL sound ALIKE, all the same cookie-cutter rap crap sound, hmmm .... just like eminem and every other rapper out there. Only ones that sound even slightly different are Black Eyed Peas and Linkin Park. Too bad the music scene says there's this formula people have to follow to be considered good or a success. :1ang:

I have to disagree Debs.

Dido is a good singer, if not excellent. I admit that I didn't hear much of her songs, but I think she is okay.

On the other hands, Mariah Carey is another class. Her song is not easily be sang by other singers as she has this high, unique voice, which makes her different from others. Yes, I could still hear her breaths (which is rather irritating according to my friends.) when she sings, but, in my humble opinion, she is one of the best female singer.

JLo.. hmm.. is it her donkey or her voice we are talking about now? :grinser:
Nah, seriously her voice isn't that bad. :uhm:

Rob Halford

"Breath" with Prodigy has been mentioned, and is up there for me too
"Sabotage" with Beastie Boys rules big time!
Nirvana's "Smells like teen spirit" was IMO a pretty lame video but it had great impact on the music scene.

All Busta Rhymes videos rank very high with me :)

Ok, I'm sifting thru videos in my head...wow...OK...since we're talking from 1982...

Toto's video for Hydra...the song is like a D&D story and the video illustrated it to a T....

Duran Duran's Wild Boys video

Saga did some interesting videos to tell their stories......there's a video I see on Telehits by I think it's a Danish band that I really like, can't recall band or song at the moment...

The Battle of Los Angeles - Rage Against The Machine
This v-clip record the riots from most nation in Africa, Asia, Europe and all over the world including Jakarta (The May 1998 Tragedy).

RATM was best hip metal band IMO, they dont use anything to making some effects just ordinary guitar not like Limp Bizkit, Korn, Linkin Park.

RATM is the greatest.

Tom Morello (my avatar) : the god of sound effect ( dropped out from harvard univ. for jamming with his friends)

Zach de La rocha : The best rap rocker, also the best song writer.

IMO you named those musicians your favs of rock music... however they are far not most skillful.... the best quality of sound and variation comes from jazz music... there are only virtuosos of their playing instruments... when a musicans feels that he had reached everything in rock music, usually he enters jazz... :smileani: ...and I should mention that Flea is on that level... :tong:

Dont mentioned Tom Morello is far from skillful guitarist!! :1d31:
Dont ever judge every single musician ability by his genre of music (rock, jazz, pop, punk, etc) !!
Judge them by his ability and performance in stage or studio !!

Maybe you have to check out this phrase :

Dont judge a book by its cover !!

Nope, i have heard playin and singin all persons ya mentioned, however I can not declare that they are the best of their genre... it is obivoius... but well, I ca not say absolute truth either, cuz as it is said -- there are no arguments about taste, it depends on person. And we know that everyone of us treat ourselves as unique and inimitable. ;)
