View Full Version : Where do we need to improve?
Assuming that our best line-up at the moment is;
Dida
Cafu Nesta Stam Maldini
Gattuso Pirlo Seedorf
Kaka
Sheva Crespo
Where do people think we should improve for next season? Looking at that team the only players I would really consider replacing would be Stam, Seedorf and Crespo.
Before people start having a go, I personally wouldn't replace Crespo as I think he's be brilliant this season, especially in the CL final, although if we do sign Gilardino I wonder what his role will be?
I would also have reservations about replacing Stam, although If we signed someone like Chivu it may be worth while.
As for Seedorf, I haven't really rated him this season, and would have liked to see Dhorasoo given a longer run, although thats just my opinion.
What do others think???
i think we really need sum1 to give seedorf competition.
This isn't directed at you personally Stefan, but i think we just need to be careful about how many threads we keep starting about similar things. Where we need to improve as a team seems to be being discussed in a number of threads already .... likewise who we should get from Fiorentina is being talked about in at least 2 threads.
It's something that needs to be addressed before it gets too out of control like last summer. :)
We need need need a decent replacement for Seedorf. I'm sick of saying someone to give him competition, I'm delighted with every other member of the squad, even JDT does his bit as a backup but Seedorf embodies the arrogant attitude of milan right now, he needs to be benched, preferably sold.
Dida
Nesta Stam Maldini
Cafu Gattuso Pirlo Jankalovski
Kaka
Sheva Etto
I would like to see this team. I know everyone will say no to a 3 man defence but look at Cafu, not much has changed and jankalovski could do a simillar job. Gatusso cant do much other than run and tackle so let him do it in fron of the defence and around Pirlo. This is the area where goals are scored from in our collapses. I put Etto in because Im sick of seeing typical centre forwards come to milan and fail to work with Sheva properly. we need to mix it up. Seedorf would obviously play when hes in form.

I think we have a very good starting 11 but what we need more than we already have are players who would be good enough to play in more than just a couple of games in place of Seedorf, Pirlo, Cafu, Gattuso, Kaka, Sheva. We need a stronger bench, so to speak, so that Carlo would feel comfortable enough playing someone instead of Gattuso or Seedorf for example which would help players with the fatigue of a long season like this one and the one before us.
Wouldn't mind a strong but also young defender - Chivu, Alex - to be brought into the team for his integration for the season 2006/07, when probably both Maldini and Stam will leave, has to begin a year earlier, IMO.

I have said Milan's biggest weakness is mental.
However, as far as personel goes, Seedorf has been a weak link this season. His performances have become more and more inconsistent. However, its easy to say lets replace him, but who would make the ideal replacement or better yet, is it possible to help Seedorf regain that consistency and form he had two years ago.
Anyway, K77's team looks pretty impressive if you ask me. It is possible to also adjust it back into the current system too. Personally, I would prefer a similar player to Seeorf that is consistent to join, as that would help regain the strength in midfield that hasn't always been displayed this year.
This post may sound like a real dig at Seedorf, but I'm just trying to say we could get stronger in his position and he is our weakest link of late. This does not mean he is a bad player at all and I do believe that in terms of players, we could possibly use a top class striker to properly partner Sheva and and replacement for Seedorf, but these are not necessaties, just improvements.

We have the best players in Milan but if we need to improve, we need to buy players which can change Milan game plan as we seems to be more predictable and our opponent will read us better as we have the same groups of players as since our last champions league victory. The signing of vogal is a good start as these will give competition in pirlo's role and no players can take for granted that they are a starter.

ok we signed vogel... we said we needed a replacement in case pirlo gets injured plus he can challange seedorf for a starting 11 spot.
however i want to see gilardino or another serie a striker come on and an under 28 defender cuz we will certainly need some fresh legs in defence.

Point taken Jim - I was just trying to bring everything together in one thread. It seems as though everyone is trying to suggest players to bring into the club, without really talking about who they're going to replace. This thread was partly trying to make the point that if we bring in all these players, then some of the first team have to go. I was wondering who people wanted to replace.
K77sh_c i realli like ur line up but instead of etoo(who we cant get), we shud put in crespo or gila if we buy them.
As far as I can see it we have few problems.
1-mental problem when we are up on goals....carlo has to do better job there, it wasnt our defence against l'pool, it was the midfield that stopped running and passing...
2-seedorf- I really like him but it seems like he can be very tired at some periods, so we need good backup, it will be jankulovsky, he is good ( somethink like serginho, better in defence ).
3-forward, I dont agree cresppo is world class striker at this moment, if you dont pass him perfectly and he is not one on one he cant do anything, he scored but could he missed that??? he is ok,he can stay as a backup, what worries me is that carlo really likes him and carlo could be the problem on our way to Gila. JDT has to go, now!
4-cafu's backup, it looks like it is oddo. its ok job from galliani.
5. Pizzaro- pirlo cant play all season, and carlo doesnt change formation so...pizzaro
...so thats it, maybe some fresh defenders...
Chivu would fit in well but we will not sign him.
this is it..............
------------------dida--------------
cafu(oddo)-nesta--maldini---jankulovsky
---------pirlo(pizzaro)--------
-gattuso----------seedorf ( fresh seedorf!!)
---------kaka(rui)-------------
sheva--------------gila
I seem to be the only one who doesnt want Gilardino. If he comes I really hope he proves me wrong and becomes Shev'a goal twin :beach:
For us to improve we also need current players to develop their all round games more. Most importantly, Pirlo and Seedorf need to be quicker and be able to tackle alot better. Both of these players also need to stop assuming they'll get a free-kick everytime they're tackled. Play to the whistle guys, it's one of the first rules of football.
Those are my current gripes with the players.
No need for you to read this Dev, we already has this talk :D Keep up with the good posts Stefan :)

I think we need to look into a replacement for Seedorf he didn't impress me at all, lets make it someone to compliment Kaka and give him some help!
I think replacement's for Cafu, Stam, and Maldini not someone who to take their spots this year or even next year but younger players for the future that can also fill in as subs . . . I think giving more rest to Maldini next season might give him more of an edge for those bigger games.
I would like someone who can fill in Pirlo's spot if need be, however that is hard to find . . . maybe they should think about changing the formation if he is out or even hurt but can still play. I like keeping Rui Costa on the side lines as a sub for Gattuso, however I would like to see that change made earlier in games like the begining of the second half if need be.
In the forward position I would like to see someone like Gila who is younger and then I believe we are set that is if Pippo is can keep it completely healthy to even be a factor then you need to look at bringing in someone else if he can't be.
I agree with Dev, the biggest weakness is mental.
I would love to see a 3-4-1-2 with Cafu and Jankulowski on the wings, but I don't think it is likely to happen. In such a scenario we also need to sign more central defenders.
After Jankulowski and Vogel, I think the only major improvement needed is a strike partner that works with Sheva. Crespo, Inzaghi and JDT are certainly not week, but don't seem to gel all that well with the Tzar. I am hoping for Gilardino personally, but can see other options as well.
i think were the best team on earth and theres little to do that can help us...
however economically i think it would be smarter if we start a strong handball and basketball team like barca do...
