AC Milan have first refusal on Anderlecht's Kompany

AC Milan have won first option on Anderlecht defender Vincent Kompany.
The 19 year-old Belgium international signed a new deal with Anderlecht through to 2010 earlier this year.
However, Milan have first refusal on Kompany after vice-president Adriano Galliani was in Belgium over the weekend to discuss their plans for the teenager with Anderlecht officials and also finalise the option agreement.
there have been reports from different sites saying that we got 1 option on kompany. it looks like he will b maldini's heir. iz he a good player, i havent seen him play but i am assuming that he is since everyone is interested in him. also another thing i wanted to mention wuz that it looks like abbiatti is coming back since genoa got relagated.

I also read that kompany will be milans player soon. It was in croatian sports papers, and its preety reliable. kompany is really good CB. And he is young too. This is really good move by milan. Bravo Galliani... But the man i wanna see in milan shirt is chivu, and kompany can replace stam, he has some things to learn untill he is ready to play for the mighty milan!!!
i completely agree with mrki, plus we can buy chivu rite now for 10 mill, and he can also play left back.
i think maldini's hair is wonderful :guw:

please dont call kompany maldini's heir; if he is to retain maldini's position yes thats fine but we all have a profound respect for maldini and I dont think anyone deserves to be called his 'heir' yet, least of all kompany!
on the other hand, kompany is promising but hes overrated.

Iv always liked Chivu, but heard plenty of good things about Kompany too. Either way id be happy
Why would you want to play Chivu at left-back ? That would be an awful idea. You want someone with pace to provide width for the team, like Lee, Sorin, Lahm, Jankulovski .... etc
Why can't Kaladze play Centre-back ? Surely if we're short he could cover for us.
i never said i want him to play left back but if we need a left back he can cover that position if kala or janku r injured. chivu can play lb and cb like maldini.

I agree with this. The closest we have to Maldini's heir is Nesta, but above all, I think its best to say he doesn't have an heir.
Milan3869, Vincent Kompany is a Belgian Central defender who is considered to be one of the most promising young defenders in world football. He currently plays for Anderlecht and is quite solid and technically fairly good.
Personally, as promising as he is, Kompany for me is still very young (he's still only around 19) and therefore its difficult to say how he will eventually turn out. Don't forget that most defenders don't reach their peaks until they are about 30, meaning Kompany has about a decade before he is ready to take Maldini's place, and I do doubt Maldini will still be here until then (though I wouldn't be shocked :D ).

Personally I dont really think that Vincent Kompany will be Maldinis hier, as they are completely different players!
If you are suggesting (and apologies if your not) that Kompany will play in the left back posistion in the future, then you are sadly mistaken. Vincents' qualities are not of a wing backs. I do not feel Vincent is the type of player that would masquerade down the wings, piledriving magnificent crosses into the area, or sprinting on the overlap.
Vincent is a central defender, and his qualities are more like Nesta than Maldini.
first of all wen i said that kompany cud be maldini's heir, i meant that wen maldini retires, kompany can take his spot. Then i said that if we dun get kompany, we can get chivu to replace maldini. i mentioned that CHIVU can play lb as well in case of an emergency, not that we wud use him as a lb considerin we have janku n kala.

How many times must we go through this... Kompany is promising to a certain extent... so are some other players and people make a huge fuss over it and next year they're nonexistent anymore... it'd be silly if Milan buys him now.

Maldini heir??? There are two... Cristiano and... oh shoot i don't remember the second son of his... anyway... to be considered Maldini's successor (i don't think heir is the right word in this case) ... he has to be from Milan youth rank and play in milan for the entire career (not including loans or anything). So, i think it's hard to find one nowadays since milan policy is totally different.

I'm from Belgium and i see Kompany on tv each week..although he's only 19 he looks very mature when he has the ball.
I would love to see him move to milan because if he can learn from nesta and maldini he will become one of the best central backs,possibly the best there is...
also in attack he's very skilled,so in the future it's possible he becomes a defensive midfielder with moves to pass an oponent...his moves are kaką-like and always performed at full speed in the run,when he recovers the ball at the penaltybox and runs with giant strides to the goal at the other side of the field he is unstoppable...
since ur from Belgium, how strong are the rumours regarding him joining Milan?

Christian and Danielle Maldini are the only heirs... if they decide to play for Milan when they grow up...
Players like Maldini, or Baresi can not be replaced... we just have to hope the team
can get good players to play their position... new idols may be in the make, like Kaka'.

I'm from Belgium, and though Kompany is the best Belgian player we've had in years, IMO he's not ready to join an Italian club. He's too young to survive serie A, not enough experience, and often makes mistakes. but Kompany is very talented and will have great future if makes the right choices.
To compare him with Maldini.....noooo !!! Maldini is a God.
Nesta is the only 'heir'.
Chivu is injury prone so would be a complete waste of money. Everyone has been linked with Kompany so if we have first option that is great news and shows the club is doing something about our defence, finally. Now if only we could get Alex(PSV/Chelsea) and Cicinho as well.
If we can sign kompany and cicinho for next season it will be ok. But remember, no one can replace paolo and cafu!!
So we will need extra class in that positions... I've heard kompany is good, cicinho is ok, but not so great defensively. If we could somehow get chivu and let kompany develop with no extra pressure, it would be great...

i think this is why we are using the 3 man defence, because Ancelotti knows he wont find better, however i do think Cicinho is more than ok as Cafu isn't exactly know for his defending either.
