I noticed that there is no topic for Kompany around. People think we have first option on him for next year.
Here's some bad news today:
http://www.calciomercato.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=98077
It mentions that Chelsea will try to buy him in January for 20 million, Mourinho specifically asked for Kompany .. (I believe that is because he saw him when they played Anderlecht in Champions League last week)
Chelsea gave us alot of problems in the market. First with Gila, then with Crespo, Kaladze, and now with Kompany.
let me to notice my friend that there was Kompany threads(and not one)! Anyway I think Chelsea won`t sign him!
Yes and they were going to buy Gilardino as well, look what happened. Unless there is an injury crisis Chelsea won't be buying a defender until next season and if they get Kompany that leaves us free to sign Alex.

Chelsea are linked with everyone nowadays. Any player with intelligance will look at their other options before going to Chelsea. I'm sure they would rather join a side jsut as good like Milan for example, but with less midfielders, hence the chance of them actually getting a game.
i hope he doesnt come... i know hell flop, hes not worth the money... weve done well with experience at the back and we should stick with it... though i dont mind having alex here...

Anderlechts chairman has told Abramovich to keep an eye on Kompany, they know his potential value and are lining up the highest bidder  its just being realistic i suppose, he is too good for the Belgian league and will leave sooner or later, in that situation they will want as much money as they can possibly get for him and Abramovich is footballs Scrooge McDuck......
If they did buy Kompany it would almost certainly mean Gallas will leave and he is vastly underrated, since Mourinho joined the Gallas - Terry partnership has only conceded 1 goal in 25 games  which is why £20m Carvalho sits on the bench when everybody is fit. If Gallas was available i would be happy to see Milan go for him, he could form a great partnership with Nesta.....

Yeah but when you play in the premiership against sides like West Brom, Birmingham and all these, it is very easy to win 4-0. You can't compare them to us. Liverpool havent conceded a goal in the premiership yet, but the european champions have scored only one goal so far! isn't that just disappointing? can't believe they won it :( certainly the worst team to ever win it..
Kompany wants money. I think he'll pick Chelsea over Milan, also because sometime 2 years ago he stated he doesn't want to go to Italy.

I've read Galliani and Moggi are very sensitive about Gallas movements, plus i don't believe we'll sign the most hyped young defender around, as we usually go for rather unknown player and turn them into world class . Examples? Filippo Galli, Tassotti Costacurta (from the youth team).. We don't need the most hyped defender NOW but the best young player in prospective
ye he chosses money, and he is right.
i think it would be between inter and chelsea and a lil chance he will go to ac milan.
but is very very very good. he is a wonderchild.
and the public will love em. that i swear!

mmm a wonderchild in Belgium..i'm quite cautious about these wonderchildren
One of them was Tevez, another one many years ago was Denilson, Freddie Adu played this summer in the under 19 WC and was complete rubbish...
He has all to prove yet, so like Saint Thomas "if i don't see, i don't believe" :1old:

ahhh, but if the European Champions can only manage 1 goal then the standards cant be that low can they? and the stat includes CL games too ;)

agreed, if Chelsea want to spend £20m on an unproven kid then let them. It would most likely cost them Gallas, one of their senior defenders who is already proven quality and approaching his peak. A major team would benefit from getting Gallas, Barca have a long interest in him but i dont see why Milan cant challenge them

They are terrible examples. Kompany has already played in at least one Champions League campaign and is established in the Belgian national team. That doesn't apply to Adu or Tevez and it was clear Denilson was circus trick merchant before Betis signed him.
The hype is justified over Kompany. Chelsea are not stupid, how many crap players have they signed or been linked with? Not many at all.
Liverpool the worst team to win the Champion's League ? Uh no, i don't think so hitman, what an immature thing to say. You're only saying that because Milan weren't good enough to hold onto a 3-0 lead, it hurts, it's in the past, get over it. There have been worse teams to win that is for sure.
Anyway, how can you say Kompany isn't overated Mehdi ? He can't possibly live up to all this ridiculous hype surrounding him because he (a) plays in a poor league and (b) is too young to have done anything worth mentioning. If he was playing in Spain, England or France where he'd be up against much better strikers and still putting in quality performances, then yes your statement would be fair. I'm not saying he's rubbish, i'm saying he's not proven anything yet. How many of you actually thought Kaka would be any good ? I would bet the majority of members here thought it was a risk and he wouldn't do alot. Yet, as we all know after his first season he was crowned a superstar. We'll have to wait and see if Kompany can do the same when he moves to a better league.
Besides, he seems to want to go to Chelsea and Anderlect want the same so they can get the money. Chelsea do make mistakes in the transfer market, they buy players for the sake of it at times, Cole, Jarosik, Tiago, Smertin, Johnson ... why do they need all of them ? They don't, they bought them for the sake of it. Most of them are good players, but if you're only playing a sub's role and only last 1 season, then that in my book is a transfer mistake.
Gallas, if he moves will more than likely go to Barca, although i think Liverpool have been the only club to make any official enquiries about him, i believe. But Milan should go for him too, he would be a great purchase.

Chivu, Gonzalo Rodriguez, Bonera, and Gallas are the ones I would love to see in Milan from next year in place of Kaladze, Billy, and Simic. Maldini and Stam are also question marks for Paolo may very well retire, or be forced to by injuries, while the Dutchman seems to have his mind set on a return to Holland for the final 1-2 seasons of his career.
Gallas is a player who has grown tremendously in Chelsea and I would love to see him in Milan but I doubt they will let him go ... chances are Mourinho would rather get rid of Carvalho rather than let Gallas go.
Kompany is a very interesting player but Chelsea seem to have the upper hand on him ... anyway, I wouldn't be that disappointed if we could get Gallas in return but ...
A player like Oddo or Daniel Alves would also be welcomed additions to the club for next season ... maybe we could get Oddo even as early as January, we'll see.
id like to see oddo at RB here next season, and gallas wouldnt only be a good transfer ... he would be excellent... because hes reliable and when benched he doesnt complain and he is versatile as well and he should be cheap.. but id like to see how talks go on after the disputes weve had with chelsea this summer, im pretty sure theylle offer something crazy like shevchenko +15M for gallas :haha:

True that, Gallas is good but Chelsea are definitely gonna be a ***** if we ever make a move on him.... I would rather like to see Kompany and Chivu play for Milan as they are younger and can therefore play for longer. We need to make long term investments, particularly in our backline as our defence is good but simply : :1old: That was Cafu :1old: Whew there goes Billy :1old: And our beloved Maldini :1old: And last but not least, Stam

Mainly agree with you Zlatanov!
I was disappointed that I saw two Anderlecht matches last month and he was out injured for both of them. Maybe he won't be back healthy for a while now. Vanden Borre is pretty good for them in defense, especially at a young age, but is in no way Milan quality. Amd that's my scouting report...:D

i hope they spend over 20M on him! i really hope they buy him
mmm a wonderchild in Belgium..
Belgium has a very good young generation coming. The U21 team finished 1st in their qualification group before Spain & Serbia-Montenegro. That is a very talented team. Besides in the 80's and beginning of the 90's (world cup's of 86 and 90) Belgium was one of the best national teams of the world. Gerets did play for Milan then, Scifo for Inter, and Milan wanted Ceulemans then. So is it so weird that there is a wonderchild in belgium ? I know belgian football is not doing well these days, but that isn't the reason that there can't be a very good player in Belgium. well, let me tell u, Kompany is very, very talented.
i hope they spend over 20M on him! i really hope they buy him
do u follow european football ? Kompany is a real talent !
do u follow european football ? Kompany is a real talent !
yeah, do u?
i think kompany is very overrated... i hope a team i hate buys him for ver 20M and hell flop with them
I agree MK18, all I hear is "Kompany, Kompany, Kompany..." from everyone. He'd have to be the next Bekenbauer to justify the praise he gets.
as for chelsea, well as someone said, they already have 4 centre backs, and they are 2 or 3 really good ones for other clubs about just now. They can't get everyone. We should start making preperations to sign Chivu I think.

nobody impresses you mk18, lol.
i haven't seen much of kompany, or chivu. all i know they're young and talented. they could turn out to be a nesta or probably flop like a materazzi. either way, we should get one of the two!!

no many people impress me... its just that few of them have been linked to us
and thats true, they could turn out to be a flop or a success.. but there are different chances to each player... if milan buy my grandma, then id say 99.9999999% shell flop, the 50-50 thing is implied when u go for a star, either he succeeds or doesnt, maradona being the best ever if he joined milan chances are that he would succeed or he would flop, that doesnt neccessrily make him a bad player, it might be because he couldnt adapt to the league or got injured maybe or whatever
heres something interesting from soccernet

Chelsea may force Anderlecht to part Kompany
Chelsea may return to Belgian side Anderlecht to sign their star defender Vincent Kompany.
The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for some time but now the Belgians, beaten 2-0 by Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday night, have admitted they could lose him to Mourinho.
'Chelsea have been interested in Vincent and it's possible that a deal can be made,' said general manager Herman van Holsbeeck.
'I have advised Roman Abramovich to keep a close eye on him.'
Kompany, who has just recovered from a back injury, has been the subject of much interest from clubs across Europe but Chelsea remain favourites to land the player who can also operate in midfield.
Kompany admits that a move to Stamford Bridge is in the offing, but insists that he has not yet made up his mind as to his future plans.
'A move to Chelsea is certainly a possibility but I have not yet made my choice,' he told the Belgian media. 'I think the English Premiership or Spanish league suits me well.
'I have friends in England so that's attractive at the moment. When you're young, you can play anywhere.'
