View Full Version : Thierry Henry
I have a feeling Henry is playing his last season at Arsenal. What do you guys think of us signing him in the summer. I know we already have Gila and Sheva, but theres nothing wrong with having 3 top class strikers over a long season.
Will never happen......Galliani ain't no Florentino Perez......
After his experience at Juve, I think it's exceptionally unlikely he'll go back to Italy. my hunch is that he'll be at Barcelona next season.
Im 100% sure that if we try, we can get him. Viera hardly had a great experience in Italy, but went back. The only question is, do we want him??
Personally, I would love to see a striker with his qualities at Milan, but not at the cost of Gila.
eidt..Plus his experience at Juve was as a promising winger, not a truely world class striker.

I wouldn't mind seeing him at Milan but I am not sure how much a luxury like that would cost us - 20 mil euros, at least IMO. For that matter, I just don't see us going after him unless one among Sheva or Gila leaves or gets injured. Furthermore, if we are gonna splash big for a striker, I would expect us to go for someone younger, like Torres for example.
Also, I am not convinced that Henry himself would like to come to Italy again. True, Milan's style is so different than that dry, sorry-a$$ game Juve have always played, but still I would expect him to move to Spain where both Real and Barca would love to get their hands on him.
Vieira also had a miserable experience in Italy but when he came to Milan he was a nobody, back then even French soccer fans hardly had any idea who he was. So, as a no-name youngster he could hardly expect something more than sitting on the bench for long preiods of time and hardly getting any playing chances at all. As for Henry, his was a different story - he was, more or less, a big name transfer for Juve and everyone expected so much of him ... and I am sure he himself expected much more from his Italian experience too. Instead, it all came to ubrupt end for him and thus the disappointment as whole was immeasurably bigger than it was in Vieira's case. That's what makes me doubt that Henry would want to come back to Serie A even if that means playing for the best team in Europe.

No need to get Henry. We already have three world class strikers in Sheva, Pippo and Vierri and a decent one in Gila. I think we are just fine the way we are!
I would take him in an instant. Agreed he's 29 now, same age as Shevchenko i believe and ideally we'd want someone a little younger, but Henry is such an athlete that he could easily go on into his mid thirties and offer us at least 3 years at the top level if not more.
Shevchenko, Gilardino and Henry would give us the best three strikers money could buy in my opinion, the greatest amount of ability, a striking threat like no other ... it would be immense.
A possibility perhaps, but maybe just a pipe dream in the end.

I rather have Ibrahim ba back than getting Henry.
He choked big time against bigger opponent and I believe he don't have Milan class. He bangs lots of goals in amateur league but I bet he will failed again in Italy just like when he was in Juve.
I think he will be telling himself not to playing in Serie A after the experience he had.
Give me Torres anytime. ;)
We really need to spend money on our defence, RB and maybe a CM. Henry is not a must buy situation, so i think he'll go to barca or real m.

If Arsenal spend some cash and show him they are ambitious then he may sign a new deal with them, if not then i think he'll be at Barca by next August.
I made my views on Henry's quality pretty clear in the past threads about him so i wont repeat myself, if Milan have a chance to get him then i'd hope they take it but as Gilardino has already been bought i dont see the strikeforce being strengthened next year, i think any available cash will be spent on the defence.
I dont think it would be a good idea to sign Henry, he is not the right kind of player Milan need right now. We already have Sheva and Gila, who, although (IMO) have not forged a strong partnership yet, have shown some promising signs. As far as im concerned the attack is good and Galliani and co should maybe invest on the defence that is living on borrowed time (I rate the current one but we all know they are ageing).
Naturally the defence is more important. But if he's available and if we have the money, why not buy him ?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and i, like Stezagud, have made my feelings known about Henry before, but i don't buy any of this "he's not good enough, he'll buckle under the pressure" rubbish .... the guy is quality, period.
I think that the money required to bring+attract Henry to Milan would be too much and could be spend on someone younger ie a few years ago we could have had Cannavaro, instead we opted for Nesta. Now Cannavaro is "slowing down a bit" and Nesta is still excellent. Instead of investing that sort of money, why not scout Brasil as we did for Kaka and find a new emerging talent (still dont understand why we let guys like Robinho go to real ...)

No need to get Henry. We already have three world class strikers in Sheva, Pippo and Vierri and a decent one in Gila.
:wallbang:
we should look to stagger the ages in our squad better, we have a very young striker, one who is right on peak, and two very old strikers. we need someone in the 24-26 age range. Obviously this is a problem because a 25 year old striker who is proven to be very good can cost millions thus we should probably keep an eye on less popular leagues and smaller italian sides.
So quite a few people here would like to get someone younger than Henry. Thats fine, but I think Torres is over rated and we already have Gila for that kind of role. Im desperate to see an all action striker like Henry join Milan. Personally, I dont think Henry is too old and he is a very intellegent striker. Yeah hes never played as well as he should have on the big occassion, but Arsenal arent half the side Milan are. Just look at all the Inter players who have excelled at Milan and Henry is at the stage in his career where he ready to play without fear. He has become Arsenal.
If I had to name some one younger then Etoo or even Martins.
You are assuming Martins is the age he says he is :googly:
Barcelona won't sell Etoo to Milan, so stop dreaming there.
Henry is a fantastic player, but I think he wants to go to Barca, and there is little that can stand in his way.

Henry to Milan? Very unlikely...Plus he wouldn't really fit into our system

Yes, Henry is a wonderful player, I'd love to see him in rossonero, but for now this is impossible. :rollani:
Remember in the late 2002 Arsenal smashed inter merda with 1-5? ;) :5inter: :rotfl: :hihihi:
That was only because of Thierry :star: :respect:
He can be useful, but for now he is too expensive for us :roolani:

why the hell are u guys always talking about buying a new striker every time? We already got Gilardino who's 23 years old and the great Shevchenko plus two very good subtitudes in vieri and super pippo.
The place we should re enforce is at the back. Maldini 37,Cafu 35,Stam 33,Nesta 29,Kaladze 27,Costacurta 39,Simic 30. We really need to buy some youngters like chivu, filipe, kompany and bonera. When this season is over galliani should buy at least 2 young defenders.
The PSV match shows exactly why
Vieri is awful. Besides all of our strikers are exactly the same with the exception of Sheva.

Agreed, however I am still doubtful whether Henry would fit our system ot not...
Out of curiosity, why dont you think he would fit in at Milan.
I think he struggles against really tight marking, which is absent in England but prevalent in Italy. As well as that, teams defend deeper in Italy, thus preventing his trademark trick of running in between the right back and centre half to score.
I will post more thoughts on it later.

Finally Ancelotti wants something other than a big targetman. on the other hand Berlusconi wants yet another poacher who just waits on the goal line  Ancelotti may not be the manager by the end of the summer though. Time will tell, but for Gods sake not another Inzaghi, one is enough and we have 3.

I think it is better to get Henry for 5 years rather than Torres. I believe we will see some changes in positions to fit Sheva/Henry/Gila. Pippo will remain as a sub, Vieri probably the trash truck will pick him up on the 1st morning of the summer transfer window.
Van Nistelrooy is someone I DO NOT WANT! We have Pippo! If we play with Pippo/Van Nistelrooy it will be terrible. I hope we do not get him although Berlusconi seems keen on him :/.
Although, there can be a much cheaper alternative than henry and a really better one to me, and with an excellent future, and can play on the left of midfield perfectly. He is the jewel of Italian football, Antonio Cassano.
That is why i think we wont get a striker, it is because we refused to get Cassano or make a move for him at all, and he is as good as it gets i think.. i do not think we are looking for a striker
BUT STILL MY MAIN TRANSFER DREAM OBJECTIVE IS CICINHO! but the prick picked real over us :/
i wouldnt want henry or rvn ... we really should be going for a speedy guy if we are to buy a striker... so that leaves out rvn, while henry would demand a starting spot and even if he did we already have a good pairup upfront for sheva and gila that we should build on and spending alot on a 3rd spot player is not worth it and not something that we would do IMO.
cassano would be a good choice IMO especially for free, but id like to have a saviola here aswell
nothing wrong with Inzaghi dimwit!
Canadian, What kind of freak are you??
Read my post carefully and you will realise that Im happy to have Inzaghi at Milan, but I dont want 3 other players who essentially play like he does. Before you start throwing insults at people at least have the courtesy to read their posts properly and if you dont have the mental capacity to do that then I understand :rollani:
Hitman, Im not sure about Torres, but even if he does turn out to be great we have Gila so I dont see why we would need Torres. MK18, you are right about Henry wanting to play, but it will be the same with Cassano even though he may be free. Look at his behaviour for Roma and Saviola has alot to prove. Its a long long season and Im sure Milan could work it out between Sheva, Henry and Gila.

Oh Canadians ....I'm being sarcastic, no offense ;)
1. Vieri is all washed up, we clearly dont need him. And for god's sake, we play MUCH better football without Vieri. Its so clear!!!1
2.Sheva and Gila are superb strikers, no doubt about it
3.let pippo do his contract untill the end, he can be very usefull...
4.one place is open...i believe cassano is already a juve player, if we can get henry it would be FANTASTIC, and he clearly is a phenomenal striker... we'll see about our 4th striker, but its necesesary to get rid of vieri ( which i dont think we will do this season...:( )
It would be sensational if we got Henry. Aside from Adriano, there aren't many other strikers who would be ready to step straight into the squad. Torres is too young and would take time to adapt, Etoo is good but has a bad attitude problem in my opinion, RVN .... no thank you. That would leave Kuyt maybe, not many others.
Henry, Shevchenko & Gilardino ... what an awesome trio. Imagine unleashing them all on a weakish team ??!! :D
I hope this is an argument Ancelotti can win and persuade Berlusconi that Henry is worth having and better for Milan than RVN.
