Benfica defender Nelson is the latest name to add to Milan’s ever-growing shopping list.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence in Portugal over the last two years.
After an eye-catching season for Boavista, Benfica bought the full-back for just over £1m as a replacement for Luis Miguel, who left the Portuguese club for Valencia in the summer.
The step up in class has only served to bring the best out of the Cape Verde Islander, who has risen to the challenge of playing for a bigger club and also excelled in the Champions League.
Milan scouts watched the quicksilver wide man play against Estrela Amadora on 22 October, and again in their following League match, and are thought to be weighing up an offer.
The Rossoneri are on the look-out for players to inject new life into Milan’s ageing defence and, with Marcos Cafu in his last season at the San Siro, potential replacements for the former World Cup winner include Cicinho, Willy Sagnol and Antoine Reveillère.
It seems that £3.5m would prove too great an offer for the Eagles to resist for their latest star, who is contracted to the capital club until 2010.

finally someone yuong 22 its oki for me ?
maybe Antoine Reveillère is best for repleace cafu but also Cicinho but i think he will go to real
i'd prefer Reveillere but I think we'd better have some players to look at that don't play for Lyon.
It seems every club has a Lyon player on their shopping list and true they big clubs could offer them money to good to refuse but it's not like they'd want to sell 5-6 players in one summer even if they did end up with near to 200m from it.
Lyon remind me of the Ajax team that dominated Europe that one season. Hopefully we will sign one of their world beaters and remind me of the time we bought Weah. Ah those were the days

Lyon players likely to become transfer targets:
Malouda
Diarra
Coupet (i can see arsenal and possibly Inter becoming more than interested in this guy)
Revelliere
Fred is a hottly tipped youngster.
Govou
Cris (defiently if he can prove to be the desisive defensive element for Brazil at the WC)
and they signed Pedretti this year too whose been the great hope of france along with Meghni for a while now.
not just targets to us by the way.
Cris (defiently if he can prove to be the desisive defensive element for Brazil at the WC)
I believe Cris will not even be making the squad. He doesn't expect to at any rate, let alone being decisive.
really?
who do Brazil go with as central defenders?
Cris impresses me.
Cris is ok, but not for Milan. Im sure he will eventually lose his place to Alex if he even has it at the moment. is Roque Junior still playing for Brazil.

Nope..Roque isn't a starter any more :)

I saw him play vs Man United. Kind of impressed me with all those fancy tricks but at the end of the day he does not get the job done. He did give Man Unitd a hard time on their left flank cuz he kept bombing forward and sending harmless crosses. He might improve if he went to a big club though
Yeah, IMO he was best benfica player that horrible eve. He is a big threat in right flank. High speed, good dribbling skills but his corossing should be better if he wants to be a NT competitor. If Milan decide to take him, I would agree.

Watched that game too, and agree with pretty much everything you say there.
He seemed a classic "dribble into blind alleys" player.
Definitely not suited to Serie A at present
