Juventus have a big transfer market project, that starts in Milan and ends in Palermo.
Their first move consists in convincing the Rossoneri to accept a swap deal involving their keeper Cristian Abbiati (who is now on-loan at Juve) and French defender Zebina, who has been on the outer at Juve since his refusal to agree to contract renewal terms.

Once Milan accept this deal, Juventus will turn over Abbiati to Palermo together with now Benfica forward Fabrizio Miccoli.

In exchange the Bianconeri will get Palermo’s most prized possessions: defenders Barzagli and Grosso, and midfielder Barone.

Juventus suck.....i dont think zebina is a good player.......Our abbiati is performing so good (with Juve ob loan) and he is a replacement for dida in future.Juve like making Milan player their tools to get better things. Why not we change abbiati with Barzagli, gross and Barone???? Why must we help Juve get rid off their unwanted player and exchange it with other quality player. The 3 Palermo player is among the hottest young player in Italy. i really hope that this will not happen.......

i tottaly agree, this is horrible market play for milan. Giving abiatti for zabina so juve can get palermo's best 3 players..... i really hope that this will not happen, and if it does hapen than we really need to think what are our people doing. lets hope this is just a rumor, we need a real player, a starter on the RB, zebina is worst juve player. juve already secured sagnol, now they are up for gallas, ALL FREE! lets go braida!!!

Can't be true.

Heck, why don't we send Abbiati and Vieri to Palermo for Gross and Barzagli

Gives us 2 younger defenders which Milan sorely needs. I'd miss Abbiati, but not Vieri.

Milan needs a good defender, not Zebina.

I don't know why you hate Zebina so much he's a very good defender.
I don't think it's a horrible market play for us, we'll get Zebina for Abbiati what's wrong with that.
Since we cant get Barzagli or Grosso and we desperately need a defender Zebina would be great addition to our squad and he's not old, 27 i think.

I am not sure this deal makes much sense for we already have Abbiati and with a small addition of money or another player we could get two very good but also very promissing ITALIAN defenders (still can improve A LOT plus, soon CL will impose much greater restrictions on # of foreign players) like Barzagli and Grosso.
If we are in such a great need for defenders that would be willing to sacrifice Abbiati for this, why not get these two but go for a troublemaker like Zebina, who isn't a bad defender but is:
1) French
2) a rather controversial character
3) will be 28 when we get him next season, while Barzagli will be 25 ... Grosso will be 29, though.

So let me get this straight:

We get a useless defender, Palermo get a useless goalkeeper and a quality striker, while Juve get two talented players. :d55: Lets throw a spanner in the works and offer Palermo Vieri on the condition we get Miccoli and we DONT get Zebina :diablo: sounds like a complicated monopoly game. :coffee:

ACMIR, Zebina is awful and would only ever get benched in favour of Billy.

id rather not have this deal done:

we could use abbiati to get cassano or oddo maybe?

Barzagli is the best young defender in europe so far; if we miss him and more if juve gets him i will be more than pissed off. we could find other good players for the left flank instead of Grosso, but i see few quality def like Barzagli around, if not any.

Is Barzagli a centre back, not seen him play. Is he really any good or just another "Over hyped new Baresi" like Bonera was?

zlatanov

Actually, Barzagli is older than Bonera ... by 13 days that is :). I personally wouldn't mind them both coming to Milan as they can vastly improve playing alongside Maldini, Nesta, Billy. Furthermore, seems to me that soon there will be new, much more rigorous restrictions to the number of foreigners a team can field in the CL, so getting young Italian defenders could be a big plus for us in the long run.

Really we shouldn't be helping Juventus make transfers to strengthen their team. We aren't really gaining anything by getting Zebina. He is a mediocre RB at best I don't think he will be able to improve our defence. Since it is Abbiati that Palermo want and since he belongs to us, management would be wiser to use him as a pawn in hammering out a deal for Barzagli instead of losing both and gaining Zebina. Of the three Palermo players listed we only need Barzagli he is a quality CB who could learn alot from the likes of Maldini, Billy, and Nesta.

See I agree that Zebina is not the best option but he can be a back up for Cafu, at least a better one than Simic

what I meant by that was that he would take one more spot of a foreigner and there are strong rumours that in a year or two there will be new, more strict regulations on that in the CL. Soemthing that won't be a problem with Barzagli, Bonera, or Oddo, for instance.

Zebina is not Milan quality, period.

Oh OK, your point is well taken my friend but French are EU players so they would not play under the foreign status ;)

why swap for zebina when Gallas is on a free in summer????????

by the way slicknick, the cl are going to impose a regulation that says you must include payers trained in the country you're from. So french players won't count unless they have been brought through an italian academy. similarly, a player like Guiseppe Rossi wouldn't for us because he came through man u (well I don't think he actually did, but if he had of he wouldn't count) even though he is italian.

I am aware of that but this summer I read several articles that mentioned new rules in the CL withing the next 2-3 years. Those new rules were aimed at "forcing" teams like Milan field more Italian players and even more players, who came through the youth academy of the club. If those rules are indeed enforced, EU or non-EU players would be considered "foreign" since it's the number of italians that would really matter. At least that's what I remeber reading several months back.

I am still not sure about that - different sources seem to report dif things. According to some he is gonna be a free agent, others say he has one more year left on his contract. One things for sure though - if he is gonna be a free agent this summer, we would be complete idiots not to go for him.

Yeah, something like that. I think it wasn't just the number of youth academy players that would be fixed but also number of non-Italian nationals playing for Milan.

yeah, next year you will be forced to pick 11 players that have come up through the ranks of an italian club. So most italians qualify for this, but camoronesi and his like won't as they where trained up in south america. From that 3 must be brought up through your own youth system, so maldini will be included there, lino mozaratti(sp?) would also count and players like Aliyu or george weah junior would also count as they came through our youth ranks.

the following year it will be 4 youth players and 12 italian trained ones.

goal.com like inventing stories. Zebina is IMO a terrible defender. Barzagli WAS great last season. I think Grosso is a mediocre player. Juve are welcome to them. It's obvious the one defender Milan need to sign is Alex.

if we really trade abiatti for zebina I'll go crazy! its so stupid I cant even describe that. if gallas is free in the summer, we should really go for him, theman plays great and is relatively young. maybe de joung could be the solution. or revellier, but not zebina! look at this HORRIBLE news.....
Juventus to ‘keep’ Abbiati Thursday 8 December, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus and Milan have reportedly agreed terms for a swap deal involving Christian Abbiati and Jonathan Zebina.

Although both are presently in the Bianconeri squad, Abbiati is only on loan from the San Siro after the champions needed cover for injured first choice goalkeeper Gigi Buffon.

Abbiati has performed reasonably well since his summer switch and whispers now suggest that the Turin giants want him on a permanent basis.

In order to complete his signing, Juventus will offer Zebina given that next season’s right-back will almost certainly be Bayern Munich stopper Willy Sagnol.

The Italian goalkeeper again defended the net at Rapid Vienna last night and is clearly happy with his form.

"I’m returning to my very best," he said after the 3-1 win in Austria which guaranteed the Old Lady top spot in the group.

"I’m happy with how things are going. We are top in Serie A and finished first in our Champions League sector. You can’t do better than that."

However, Abbiati may soon have to get used to life on the bench again given the return of Buffon.

Although the latter missed last night’s game with a foot injury, he is soon expected to be Fabio Capello’s first choice again.

That has inevitably led to speculation that the permanent capture of Abbiati is one related to transfer use.

Abbiati could be signed but then offered to the likes of Palermo, in a deal which may see Andrea Barzagli and Simone Barone head north.

Zebina is garbage and there is no reason to get him to Milan. And there is also no reason why we should help Juve get Grosso and Barzagli, who are both quality defenders and would strenghten their squad considerably.
