Materazzi in shock Milan link
Tuesday 24 January, 2006
Inter’s Marco Materazzi is being linked with a move to Milan as Jaap Stam reportedly wants to leave the Rossoneri immediately.
When chief Adriano Galliani said recently that the defence was not solely responsible for Milan’s weakening title bid and that the current personnel would be sufficient until the end of the season, it was assumed that no defenders would be forthcoming in the January transfer window.
It has since emerged, however, that Stam wants to leave the club now rather than in the summer – a scenario that would leave the San Siro outfit with a significant shortage of defensive options.
Milan have never been a side to hold on to want-away players. Rivaldo was allowed to leave after proving to be a disaster for Carlo Ancelotti’s men, while Christian Vieri was also permitted to sign for Monaco after just four months with the club’s blessing.
Should Stam also be granted his desire to go, Galliani and general director Ariedo Braida only have a week to find his replacement.
Andrea Barzagli has been a Rossoneri target for some time, but Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini does not see eye to eye with the Milan directors and has slapped a £7m price tag on the player.
With the Rosanero set to visit in the Italian Cup tomorrow night, discussions are likely to take place, but with Zampa still put out by President Silvio Berlusconi’s conduct over the television rights dispute, it is unlikely that any deal will be made.
It is more likely that Milan will plump for the short-term option which, incredible as it sounds, would see out-of-favour Inter stopper Materazzi arrive on loan until the end of the season.
The prospect seems unfathomable in the light of Materazzi’s numerous aggressive displays against ‘the enemy’ during Milan derbies and his apparent dislike for Inter’s city rivals.
However, World Cup year’s can provoke unexpected transfers and with Materazzi desperate to get regular football in order to secure a place in Marcello Lippi’s Azzurri squad this summer, it seems a move across town could suit all parties.
I for one would not countenance this hack and slash player (though on one hand he may bring some much needed bite to our backline) coming to Milan, but I am in two minds... :55angel:

This is exactly what we dont need, a player like Materazzi. All our players hate him and especially Sheva, there will be alot alot of tension between the players in the locker rooms. I hope we dont get Materazzi.
And whats up with Stam and his immediate departure? wtf? I also read an exclusive report on calciomercato that said Braida was in Amsterdam on Monday - to discuss plans about Wesley Sneijder. Maybe we might see Stam going in the other way? Darn, i thought we would be using Stam in a swap deal with Alex :/
I hate Materazzi so much i really don't want to see him in Milan but if we can't find someone better then he'll do the job but i really don't want to see that "'butcher" in Milan. :5milan:
I really don't beleive these rumours about Stam wanting to leave immediately, why would he want to leave now when we are playing in CL and he has a chance to win it for the last time, that's just stupid :stupid:

IMO, it's just fanta-calciomercato. Even if Stam does leave now, something I highly doubt, Milan would rather go for players like Terlizi or Barzagli than sign Matterazzi, who is a spent player is so hated by all Milan supporters (and probably Milan players too, like Sheva for example).
And also Carlo just denied these reports - www.tgcom.it/sport

well to be frank, even though thats not my name, I think it would be great to have him . . if he is hated by everyone else why not have him join our side? There is a reason why everyone hates him . . he is chippy, he is a gattuso . . . so why wouldn't you want him on our side . . . it is better then having to face him isn't it? I doubt our players would hate him if he played for us ..

Great minds think alike, I agree with you zlats...and its also from acmilan.com:
ANCELOTTI: 'No chance of Stam returning to Holland'
1/24/2006
MILANELLO - Carlo Ancelotti spoke about the difficultly of missing players and in particular Paolo Maldini: 'It's a tough absence, not just from the technical point of view. Now it seems that he is doing better. We're counting on him returning soon.' A look then at the transfer market and the possibility of Stam returning to Holland before the end of January, the coach said: 'Zero.' As for Marco Materazzi coming to Milan: 'Materazzi is an excellent player but I don't think that negotiations are possible, simply because Milan don't need him.' Stam's fitness: 'He's out with a pelvis problem. It's annoying, probably a small inflammation. It's nothing grave and he'll probably be available for Sunday. He felt pain and came off straightaway.'
Breaking news, Breaking news!!!!
Paolo Maldini is about to leave Milan and sign a 1 year contract with Inter... apparently, the drive to Milanello is too long for him, and he has decided to join city rivals to end his carreer...
Come on, people... what kind of nightmare-calciomercato is this???

NEWS ALERT: Sheva in shock move to Juve!
Fed up with coming second to the Bianconeri, the Ukraine striker in a shock move, will today sign for Juventus, citing his long admiration for Moggi, Capello, and the white and black stripes of Juventus as the reason for his surprise move.

never ever will this happen!!!!! he is the player all milan fans/players hate the most or at least i do and i think many of you would agree with me on that one.
i guess the next thread will be that milan made a €20m. bid to get peter crouch from liverpool.
this is not possible becouse milan players hate Materazzi and Milan is carefull about the squads atmosphere. simple as that. about sneijder - milan needs someone strong in CM, sneijder cant protect pirlo good enough,. its not a good decision.
and philly_chris (a.k.a. not Frank)... Materazzi is not a Gattuso... Matrazzi is a Poulsen.

I disagree with you. Sneijder's role should be a creative one.

No way Meterrazi coming. wrong way of 30th years old and not even a consistent player.Better get a younger player!!
Oh please God no. He's been over-rated (mostly due to the fact that he was blessed to have been born in Italy--ain't they all good defenders?) for his entire career. I have often wondered if he has a press agent working 45 hours a week to build his image, because nothing he has ever done on a pitch has justified even 1/4 of it. He has always been a big black hole, from Perugia to Inter to whatever place he gets chucked to next. Lame.
I really don't like him...;)
IMO Materazzi is a loose cannon, cetrainly aint "Milan class". I know you could argue there are maybe 1 or 2 players just now that are not "Milan class", but him, i think we'd be making a step backwards.
First, look at his age. Why do we want to bring in a diddy from Inter in his thirties? We should be looking at younger players.
Second, I dont think Sheva would be very happy, not that long ago that this animal was trying to half him at every occasion.
If there is a god, dont let him come to Milan (the better side OF milan that is)

Materazzi opens Milan door
Thursday 2 March, 2006
Inter stopper Marco Materazzi has indicated that he would accept a move to city rivals Milan at the end of the season.
The Rossoneri have been linked with the unsettled defender for some time and he this evening suggested that a city switch could be on the cards.
“I have an excellent relationship with everyone at Milan,” the former Everton player told Sky Italia on Thursday night.
“After all, I consider Gennaro Gattuso as a godson and I get on well with all the Milanisti,” he tellingly added.
Materazzi is thought to be looking for a new club after falling out of favour with Inter boss Roberto Mancini.
The two men are understood to have clashed recently as a result of Materazzi’s lack of use at the San Siro.

I hope this will not happen as it only about Materazzi own opinion of coming to AC Milan but dono how current milan player will think.
If , he really really come to MIlan just hope that he can have the performance like Pirlo n Seedorf when they switch form Inter to Milan. By they way we do need some defender to be replaced. We cant see it only from the negative side of Materrazi even though many of us dont like him very well. But If he is already a Milan player we still need to give him the best support.I do believe there is many more other option in the transfer market rather that Materrazi
Materazi???!!!!! no thanks he is Intermerda we needn`t such players!
if each member here at MM were given one post that can be read by people linked to milan, i think id probably waste mine telling materazzi to 'F*ck Off!'
