Don't worry Debs...
Donadoni said in an interview to Gazzetta dello Sport that he wanted to see the players he know the least... plus, the World Champions took vacation after the WC and most of them just got back to training with their clubs...
only 1 World Champion in the list... 3rd. goalkeeper Marco Amelia... and only one player he had coached in Livorno, Morrone... most of this players are young... only veterans I see are Ambrosini, Liverani and Rocchi... and they're not that old...

Is this Italian-A side????
Yes this is the senior team and Ambrosini will be captain.
Lets not forget it's just a friendly and a chance to experiment.
If Roma gets into the game, it'll be quite experimental. He's awful.
If anyone wants to watch the friendly, I read somewhere it's showing at CCTV5.
20.50 Italy-Croatia

addendum: Lol! Vadim, thanks for bringing that up. it's was switched :u56:
Its the other way around. The title of your post is very misleading :)
I was so disapointed with Donadoni and his squad no player from world cup
winer team and I know no one in this strange team except Ambrossni
and so disapointed the result I know it just friend but
We (Azzurri) are world cup winner we needed to play at least some first team player to show the world that we really deserve to be Compuni de Mondo
I just had to cringe this morning when I was checking some news sources b/c the one head line smacked of Ancelotti and not Donadoni. Donadoni "expected" defeated, was the headline at Channel 4. Hey, he can't steal our excuses!!! :ilol:
Zurich, 18 August 2006 - The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has today opened proceedings against the Croatian Football Federation following the behaviour of some Croatian fans during the international friendly between Italy and Croatia on Wednesday (16 August 2006).
According to the pieces of information gathered to date, some Croatian fans formed a swastika and made the Nazi salute in the stands.

On the contrary, I think what Coach Roby did was somewhat brilliant. In a game that really has no bearing at all on their FIFA ranking (as if THAT mattered?), he gave many players their first National Team Cap to give them a benchmark that they need to attain in order to play International level football. Currently IMO no one really on that squad could have played in this past World Cup. But they do know now what it takes to attain that possibility. With this lost against Hrvatska, all those in that playing squad was given a rude awakening to National Team mettle one must have. Now they know the work cut out for them.
Latest release: This one apparently is the real deal
Italy squad:
Goalkeepers:
Abbiati (Torino), Amelia (Livorno), Buffon (Juventus)
Defenders:
Barzagli (Palermo), Cannavaro (Real Madrid), Dainelli (Fiorentina), Grosso (Inter), Oddo (Lazio), Pasqual (Fiorentina), Zaccardo (Palermo), Zambrotta (Barcelona)
Midfielders:
Ambrosini (Milan), De Rossi (Roma), Gattuso (Milan), Marchionni (Juventus), Perrotta (Roma), Pirlo (Milan), Semioli (Chievo)
Forwards:
Bonazzoli (Sampdoria), Cassano (Real Madrid), Di Michele (Palermo), Gilardino (Milan), Inzaghi (Milan), Rocchi (Lazio)
Milan has six players that had been called up. But this Azzuri team seems to lack a creative force. Everyone will want to start focusing on Pirlo. There are no Totti/DP to take off the heat.
We were (I think) the only squad at the WC that all played in their country. How quickly that changed. :( Looks pretty weak up front, hopefully Pippo will get some time in (off the bench).
Saudi Arabia was the other team where all the players played domestically. Yep, that Saudi league and Serie A are the best in the world, I tell you what :D
Poor Max (and us) :( He finally gets a call up & gets injured

Goal Inzaghi (29')!!! Italy vs Lithuania 1-1. :whie:
(Game's still playing)
Buffon
Oddo, Cannavaro, Barzagli, Grosso
De Rossi, Pirlo, Gatusso, Perrotta
Inzaghi, Cassano
Cassano seems to be playing really well ...
fortunatly I don't think donadoni will be up to much as a national manager. still, god knows how scotland are going to finish second in this group :(
still 6-0 wooo!
Yes! He's had excellent chances in the first half. And now Inzaghi too. Gatusso also has made good hustles and runs. I hope they break the tie... and get the the points early.
Edit: That's it! 1-1, Pippo's goal on the Azzurri side. Another Grosso curler almost made it. Gila VERY unlucky!
I am speechless. I bet everything on Italy (Serbia and Germany). AND ITALY PLAYED 1-1! Aghhhhhhhh! Giant mad now!!!! Aghhhh!! :dumpf: :angf: :dumpf:
arcy, who should I direct my anger on? who played particulary bad? (I know, I know, Lithuania played like they are the World Champions) :dumpf:
Me angry! Me very very angry....
They played great and worked hard but so unlucky though. Cassano deserved a goal, and Inzaghi and him connect very well.
Gila! :1ang: In front of the goal, inside the box and somehow takes the shot into the DF's feet. :p157:
Lithuania goal shouldn't have happened...there might have been a lack of understanding in the center, as Buffon didn't make motions to save it.
And no, they didn't deserve a tie :frustrat: and France won 3-0 to Georgia :(

sorry, but I'm over the moon. we're top. If we take something from Lithuania and italy fail to win it's a dream start for us.

Lolz Tas. Gila was the easiest target. If he stays like this, he'll be an unlucky one with goals too many
video recap: http://www.skylife.it/html/skylife/sport/video_sport.html?video=0
France are 1-0 up after 2 minutes ... i don't see Italy winning this match.
2-1 to France now ...
Govou & Henry for France .... Gilardino for Italy ...
Coupet saves well from a Gilardino effort ...
1st goal is a definite offside. Way too obvious.
For the second goal, there is no replay to show whether Henry is offside or not too.
Gila's goal is pretty nice.
France are passing around much better than the Italians, who seem not to know how to attack to be honest. Unlucky to go behind due to offside (france first goal) but also not enough pressure on the Frenchmen.
The Italians are just relying on individual's performance and I don't see Italy winning unless they made some radical changes and make a clear game plan as to how to attack. Simoni is non-existent, while Gila does not receive enough support. Cassano is virtually non-existent. I feel sorry for Donadoni who doesn't have totti on disposal but I also don't see him as a master of tactician, yet.
I'm not sure Totti would make alot of difference right now ...
nope, not now. Italians are playing awfully....
Italians have absolutely NO IDEA how to attack.. getting embarrassing now ...
If it's the first two to qualify then they can still scrape through. The games against Scotland will be the key.
