if gourcuff plays, i would not underestimate hin :)
my lineup:
---------------------Dida-----------------
Simic / Cafu - Nesta - Maldini - Jankulovski
Gattuso ---- Seedorf -------- Gourcuff
----------------Kaka---------------------
-----Gilardino------------Oliveira---------

I put seedorf instead of pirlo, because he looked very exhausted against inter, and i think he needs to rest some games

I think Gourcuff will play some part in this match, say the last 20 mins or so, but i've be surprised if he's used from the start.

Funniest part is that Serginho has more odds to score a goal than Gattuso while he is injured!! haha!

i don't get those odds at all, 1.66 this and 5.3 that .... why can't they just use the normal 16/1 or 5/1 system? :googly:

my lineup:
-----------dida-----------
bonera--nesta--simic--marek
----------brocchi--------
---ambrosini---gourcuff--
---------kaka'-----
---oliveira----gilardino

Or maybe it would be good to rest Kak' for the whole match, and change the formation. Against Inter Kaladze was simply horrible, so was Marek. Simic can easily play as a CB as he is super this year, and its important that Gilardino plays with Oliveira as those 2 function well together.

Lol !
I concidere myself expert in betting, and i must say i'm well known in betting forums around the net ( under another nickname, of course :) )

It's very easy actually.
You have odds 1.66, which means you get 1.66 pounds for 1 pound... if you put 100 pounds on a 1.66 bet, you'll get 166 pounds.

If you have more bets...f.e :
1. Milan to beat Anderlecht , odds 1.15
Chelsea to beat Bayern , odds 2.15
Villa to beat Pompey , odds 1.85
and you wanna put them in a combo, you'll do this : ( 1.15 x 2.15 x 1.85) x Stake. If your stake is 100 pounds on this combo you''ll get 457 pounds if you win it.

It's easy as you can see :)
(sorry for going off topic)

Jim_UK
30-10-2006, 07:28
Ahh, i see. Thanks Tony.

So it's almost identical to normal betting, except it now has decimal points. I still think saying 2/1 would be as good as saying 1.67 ... i don't see much point in being that precise :D

Ok, all the betting is well and good...any idea of who will b showing the game?

For this one, Kaka should rest...at least for the first half...it (the result) is important, but we need to focus on the league on the weekend...so we need to have him rested.

Hope Gourcuff is available..though he wont play from the start I dont think.

Simic should feature, as should Marek...he was subdued during the derby, but this can be expected after playing quite well for several matches..the derby IMO was just too intense for him.

Seedorf...lets hope he has one half of good football, then replace him with Gourcuff..who to replace Pirlo, who is spent?...now, what did we do with Foggia again? Loaned him out because we are chock full of A-list players? :hammer:

Jim_UK
30-10-2006, 09:27
If you want to rest Kaka, then i think you have to play Seedorf behind the 2 strikers and Brocchi in Seedorf's role? Then at a certain point introduce Gourcuff and Inzaghi i guess.

I would start with

Dida, Cafu, Simic, Maldini, Jankulovski, Gattuso, Pirlo, Brocchi, Seedorf, Oliveira, Gilardino.

Subs to be used: Kaladze, Gourcuff and Inzaghi.

Let Kaka & Nesta rest this game.

30-10-2006, 11:37
Anderlecht's striker Frutos is injured so we won't have to worrie about their attack because he is the most dangerous man at Anderlecht's side.
We should play a very attacking game and score as soon as possible to decide the game early in the match.

Dida,
Cafu, Maldini, Kaladze, Brocchi
Gattuso, Seedorf, Jankulovski
Kaka,
Oliveira, Gilardino.

Nice chance for OLi- gila to play together, and also for Gorky.. Its going to be interesting to see our future playing all together including Kaka,of course.

Dida - Bonera,Nesta,Kaladze,Janku-Rinho,Pirlo,Gorky-Kaka-Oli-Gila

Jeff
30-10-2006, 13:16
Gila, Oli, Gorky, Pirlo, Rinho, Nesta, Kaladze, Dida are definitely starters. The rest is a little bit tricky. Janku should start, with Cafu on the right... Kaka` can play for 60 minutes but should be given a rest.

That sounds good to me Jim...I will let Carlo decide (and he will prob play Kaka from the start), as I am a tad bit depressed, plus, I got chewed out by the boss this morning..so its not a good week for me...plus, I will have to watch the match via streaming, since it doesnt appear that ESPN will carry the game...

It seems they wont carry any Wednesday game live, unless I am mistaken... :dconf:

Don't worry, i'm sure some streaming site will have the match. It seems they sometimes leave it until the last moments before they reveal their schedule.

So, of course, I had to take the blame...but such is life...I needed that after the derby though, just to remind me of how wonderful Monday´s are!

Yeah, I am pretty sure I will b able to see it via streaming..but I have to be hiding :d33: from Sir Zlatanov of Wirebrushya...he seems he has something for me..that I dont think I want...so, can u tell me the sites when the info is up? Thanks.

Well, Jim, I don't wanna brag .... but yes, it is. :p017: :D
Only problem right now is that "damage" I already mention but it shouldn't be surprise since I got the costume in the mail ... and the return address was in Jamaica ... guess, I should blame myself for that :diablo: :devf:

I do have a logo, here it is - :firedev:
and a utility belt too; it takes two extra brushes, the first is labeled "Warro" and the second one - hmm, again "Warro" ... now that seems a little unfair, doesn't it :grinser: :guw:

In case someone's interested in watching Barca-Chelski, here are some links - recommend SIPTV (Caifu Sports) on PPMate or SHTV on PPStream:

Folks,
Let us not forget that Dida received only few goals before Inter, and that the defence was horrible in the last 2 games. I am not blaming him for the suffered goals, but the fauls is on Nesta and Kaladze who had temporary amnesia problems....
Dida is and will be the best choice for AC Milan until Mr. Silvio spends some money and brings Buffon on ou goal.

Farina is losing the game. Bad reffereing just like in the derby.

zlatanov
31-10-2006, 15:40
I think that 1st yellow was for Lampard although the cameras were tracking Cole when Farina was showing the YC in the 20th min or so ... that's what made it look as if Cole was the one being cautioned.

Warro Bantan
31-10-2006, 18:03
Farina had a terrible game, seeming to give chelski all the 50-50 calls, and several that were blatant fouls against Barca.

Poor ref, poor end result for Barca...6 minutes of extra time? Rijkaard should have clocked him, a good straight right, rather than just telling him some choice words...at least the inevitable touchline ban would have been worth it.

He is hopeless. (Farina that is)

Fking idiots TLN..the only reason im subscribed to them is to watch Italian teams in CL.. for the past 2 match days they have shown Real Madrid both home and away games.. I thought maybe it was because AC Milan weren't playing at San Siro and thre was no other Italian team playing on that day.. but tomorrow Milan play at home against Anderlecht and it seems like they are going to show Real - Bucharest! I can't believe it, IM DISGUSTED!!!

Here is a preview from goal.com for tonight's match

----------------------------------------------------

BACKGROUND

Milan and Anderlecht met two weeks ago at the latter’s home ground in Brussels, Belgium. Milan came out with the three points, by a score of 1-0.

Anderlecht knew Milan were struggling, and they had a chance to get hold of the group with a win over the visitors. That being said, they did not necessarily need to push the issue, as they did not need all out offense to get the result they desired. In fact, Milan showed the same offensive frailty they had been displaying for nearly the entire season.

Not only did Milan have trouble scoring yet again, but they were put under the gun when Daniele Bonera was ejected for a second bookable-offence right after the restart. But rather than recede and lock down on defense, this seemed to give the Rossoneri impetus to go forward. The only goal came through a superb strike by Kakŕ in the 58th minute. He received the ball far from goal, took a few touches, and then hit an unstoppable-shot that sailed past Anderlecht ‘keeper Daniel Zitka. This was all that was needed, as Milan held on for the improbably-achieved win.

CURRENT FORM

Milan (W D W, 7 points) are currently in first place in Champions League group H. While they have not been able to get on track in domestic competition for the most part, they have done well in European play, with the opening 3-0 home victory against AEK Athens being the bright spot so far.

It appears as though they finally have hit their stride domestically, despite the 4-3 loss to Inter Milan at the weekend in the Derby della Madonnina. While the first-half was one to be forgotten, the second-half performance was markedly better, and through late-game heroics they almost got out with a draw, after having gone behind 4-1 at the beginning of the second-half.

Anderlecht (D D L, 2 points) will be hard-fought to get points from this fixture. Milan will surely look to continue this improved vein of form, and this will be the most important match for Anderlecht so far in the competition. A surprise draw or win would go a long way to helping them make a push for second place in the group.

In Belgian league play, they have continued to do well, with a 2-0 win on Sunday versus bottom of the table Lierse. Ahmed Hassan bagged a brace with the strikes on either side of halftime; although, the score could have been higher, as they missed two penalty kicks.

TEAM NEWS

Anderlecht really only have one glaring injury concern to account for, and that is defender Nicolas Pareja, who is a long-term absentee with a knee problem.

Milan are still without Serginho, but Joann Gourcuff should return to the lineup after a long absence for a rib injury. Daniele Bonera is suspended for his dismissal in the match played in Belgium a fortnight ago.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Alberto Gilardino (Milan) – Finally scored his first goal of the season in the weekend defeat, and looked very active, even having a goal disallowed for a close offside call.

Lucas Biglia (Anderlecht) – the Belgians need a good performance from the Argentine midfielder, whose play is essential toward getting a positive result. He will need to show the quality he displayed on a regular basis back when he played for Boca Juniors.

POSSIBLE STARTING XI’s

Anderlecht (4-4-2): Zitka; Descacht, Juhasz, van Damme, Vanden Borre; Goor, Biglia, Hassan, Boussoufa; Tchite, Frutos

Milan (4-3-1-2): Dida; Cafu, Nesta, Maldini, Jankulovski; Gattuso, Pirlo, Gourcuff; Kakŕ; Gilardino, Inzaghi

PREDICTION

In what is bad news to teams not only Italy but all across Europe, Milan may now be hitting top-form. This will be especially bad news for Anderlecht, who have a history of struggling in Champions League play.

With the home crowd urging them on, Milan will try to get plenty of goals to build on their recently-acquired confident play. Expect a big win for the Rossoneri.

Milan 3-0 Anderlecht

Here is a mini preview from Eurosport and one from Uefa

Eurosport:
------------------------------------------------------

Milan will hope to put their domestic woes behind them and concentrate once again on the Champions League when they face Anderlecht at the San Siro on Wednesday.

The Rossoneri have struggled horribly in Serie A so far this season, and a recent dismal run of form culminated in the 4-3 derby defeat to Inter at the weekend to leave them languishing in 14th place.

But Milan's form in Europe has been anything but poor, and with seven points from a possible nine so far, Carlo Ancelotti's side are looking good for qualification to the next round.

Milan will seal their place in the last 16 with a win over Anderlecht - who they beat 1-0 a fortnight ago in Belgium thanks to a stunning Kaka strike - as long as AEK Athens do not win in the other Group H game against Lille in Greece.

Ancelotti has vowed not to change his side despite the pressure heaped on him by Saturday's defeat, and that means that Alberto Gilardino - who scored for the first time this season in the weekend's game - should keep his place in attack.

Daniele Bonera is out of contention through suspension following his red card at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, with Brazilian veteran Cafu set to step in as a replacement.

Anderlecht will be looking for revenge after having put in a decent display two weeks ago, and they head into the game in good form after a 2-0 win over Lierse at the weekend in the Belgian Juniper League.

But coach Franky Vercauteren will have to make do without star striker Nicolas Frutos, who pulled up with a muscular problem against Lierse.

"With or without Frutos, the most important thing remains that we play as a team," Vercauteren said.

UEFA:
------------------------------------------------------------

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has the air of a man relieved to be turning his attention back to the UEFA Champions League where, in contrast to the somewhat darker domestic landscape, the future looks bright.

'Not happening'
Milan lead Group H with seven points from three matches and will qualify for the knockout stages with victory against RSC Anderlecht, provided AEK Athens FC fail to do likewise at home to LOSC Lille Métropole. In Italy, however, the Rossoneri have won just one of their last six games, culminating in a 4-3 derby defeat on Saturday which leaves them 14 points behind leaders FC Internazionale Milano. "It's not quite happening for us in Serie A," Ancelotti said. "I'm not really sure why there is a difference, because we prepare for the matches in exactly the same way. The results in the league suggest we're playing badly but we're not."

'Dominating possession'
That disappointing domestic run also suggests European success holds even greater importance for the six-time continental champions, although Ancelotti is not looking beyond Wednesday. "Three points would put everything right for the time being, but it won't be straightforward as Anderlecht are a good side," he said. Milan, who will be without the suspended Daniele Bonera and the injured Giuseppe Favalli and Serginho, may recall French youngster Yoann Gourcuff to help Kaká pull the midfield strings.

Tchite threat
The Brazilian's wonder strike proved the difference between the teams in Brussels a fortnight ago, although the scoreline could have been different had Mohamed Tchite - "a player who is very dangerous away from home" according to Ancelotti - not wasted a golden opportunity to equalise, with Roland Juhász also hitting the woodwork. Another who usually carries the Anderlecht threat, Nicolas Frutos, has a hamstring complaint and joins Nicolas Pareja on the sidelines. Tchite should instead be supported in attack by Mbark Boussoufa and Ahmed Hassan, who scored twice in Saturday's 2-0 defeat of K. Lierse SK.

Travelling support
"It is a shame that Frutos is out," said visiting coach Franky Vercauteren, "but we've been without him before and done well. I'd prefer to have him available as he gives the side so many more options, but life goes on and we have other good players in the side." Les Mauves have lost only once in Group H, on Matchday 3, but two draws have left them requiring at least a point from this encounter, and the support of 5,000 travelling fans could yet help them achieve such a result.

'Not scared'
Vercauteren added: "This is a hugely important match for us. It could be decisive in terms of who finishes where, so we need to try and pick up points. We are not scared of anyone. We have a healthy respect for Milan and are honoured to be playing in this tournament at San Siro, but we can get something from the game if we play as a solid unit."

Probable teams
Milan: Dida; Cafu, Kakha Kaladze, Alessandro Nesta, Paolo Maldini; Gennaro Gattuso, Cristian Brocchi, Yoann Gourcuff; Kaká; Alberto Gilardino, Ricardo Oliveira.

Anderlecht: Daniel Zítka; Roland Juhász, Mark De Man, Olivier Deschacht; Yves Vanderhaeghe; Anthony Vanden Borre, Lucas Biglia, Bart Goor; Ahmed Hassan, Mbark Boussoufa; Mohamed Tchite.

I can't wait for this match. I think we will win, I don't feel any doubt there, but more importantly I'm interested in seeing how the players perform. They seem much more up to the challenge since the Inter match and I think they're starting to perform better and better.

We need to build on the 2nd half against Inter and so I'd be looking to press and attack Anderlecht. We know they have some decent attacking players (the pace of Tchite must be watched), so we have to be careful on the counter.

I'd start Maldini as he looks really sharp lately, and has performed well enough to play ahead of pretty much any defender (maybe not Simic who has been great so far this season).

Finally, Gila I think deserves to start (without Pippo), as I think he looks to finally be starting to hit form.

FORZA MILAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to let you guys know that the "how to see the game" thread has been updated with some bad news - Rai has moved the game from RaiUno to RaiTre and I am not sure if RaiTre will be on StreamerOne's channel list.

Once the game has started, in case RaiTre isn't on one of the "test" channels of STreamerOne, I suggest trying ULF, UBC 35/36, and CCTV Soccer on TVAnts.

I thought I would never see somebody writing that nesta should be dropped out of the squad, but it seems that nobody is certain nowadays. But I think he needs time to rest. I think he`ll be ok in a week or so,

I want to see Gorky- Oli- Gila.thats my only wish for tonight.. :firedev:

My team:
Dida
Cafu, Simic, Kakha, Maldini
Brocchi, Pirlo/Seedorf, Janku
Gorky
Gila, RO

Think it's about time to rest Kaka, at least for one half of this game. Later on, if Kaka comes in, wouldn't mind having Brocchi, Gattuso, Gorky, and Kaka in midfield.
Having big hopes for Gila and especially RO.

zlatanov
01-11-2006, 10:52
calciomercato says that Cafu and Janku won't take part in this game as well as Pirlo, who's being rested.
Seedorf is expected to start on the bench, so I guess this means Nesta and Kaka are starting.
most probable team for now seems to be:
Dida
Simic, Nesta, kakha, Maldini
Gattuso, Brocchi, Gorky
Kaka
RO, Gila

ACMILAN1983
01-11-2006, 11:05
I don't mind Nesta starting, as I don't think it's a fitness problem he's had lately, but more likely he's just lacking a little form and maybe confidence. Personally, I think it would be beneficial for him personally to play.

FORZA MILAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mrki
01-11-2006, 11:13
Nesta is still the best CB in the world, im not worried about him. If Janku and Cafu will not play that means Simic will be on the right and Paolo on the left. But im not satisfied with Kaka' playing again. He is not supermen, he cant play always. Again we are short of solutions in midfield, we need new players in there in january.
Im sure Gila will play some good football today, from what I've seen in past few games, he is playing better. I hope he will socore again today and get his confidence back. The man scored 75 goals for Parma, he cant forget how to play. FORZA GILA!!

Jim_UK
01-11-2006, 11:17
so if you're right Zlat, that would make our subs

Fiori,
Costacurta,
Seedorf,
Inzaghi,
Boriello

I'd prefer to have either Jankulovski or Cafu on the bench, or even both, just to be on the safe side should their be an injury or something. It doesn't mean we have to use them, just gives us a bit more insurance should something unforseen happen.

Warro Bantan
01-11-2006, 11:30
Well Pirlo should rest, as should Clarence...but I think this shows the paucity of attacking midfield talent at our disposal that we cant afford to rest Kaka as well.

Ricky, based on our league position, cannot afford to rest for Serie A games, and it seems we wont rest him for this tie either...:moan:

zlatanov
01-11-2006, 11:30
I am not sure whether both Janku and Cafu will be out of the game altogether. Calciomercato says they will be, but Gazzetta doesn't mention anything wrong with cafu, only Janku who has sustained a slight injury to one of his legs.
There's probably a chance that at least one of them will be on the bench, although there are strong doubts that either of them will be starting tonight.

zlatanov
01-11-2006, 11:35
actually, the way this team is right now, we have place for one more player to make the squad 25 players, which is UEFA's limit for CL games. So, it's not like we can speak of getting a number of new mids, unless we let go of some of those we already have.
Our main issues in midfield, however, have been mostly due to long term/persisitent injuries to Gorky, Sergio, and Ambro, which hasn't allowed Carlo to rotate and rest certain players properly - like Kaka, Pirlo and Seedorf.

I guess Milan has never won at home against a Belgian side. At least not in the last 20 years.

1986 : Milan - SV Waregem 1-2
1990: Milan - Club Brugge 0-0
1994: Milan - Anderlecht 0-0
2003: Milan - Club Brugge 0-1

Hopefully we stop this tonight ...

To be honest, Anderlecht looks like a team we should beat 3 or 4 to nothing. I only want to see them play like 2nd half against Inter when they were running and fighting. Gourcuff and Gila will do that for sure today.

Milan (4-3-2-1): Dida; Simic, Nesta, Maldini, Kaladze; Gourcuff, Brocchi, Seedorf; Kakŕ; Ricardo Oliveira, Gilardino.
Anderlecht (4-4-2): Zitka; Vanden Borre, Juhasz, De Man, Deschacht; Goor, Biglia, Vanderhaeghe, Hassan; Boussoufa, Tchite. | |

Hey the stream is getting better - I actually saw the 2nd goal:
Kaka and Cafu were running together on the right wing, Kaka had the ball from the half-field line and when he reached the Anderlecht PA, he passed it to Cafu - running alongside Kaka - and then Cafu got the ball back to Kaka and he put in the top corner from around the limit of the small PA.

no, no - I mean that as in "stream users" - TVAtns stats show that this is the most popular game for the day, yet it's only one channel on TVAnts that's showing it and that's why the stream is so bad.

Yesterday read that about 30-31K tickets had been sold so attendance for this game should be somewhere around 40K, I would guess.

It would be ace if he could score a 4th goal ... or even a 5th if i'm being greedy :D

K77SH C
01-11-2006, 16:05
He dribbled towards the left corner of the box casually and then unleashed into the top right corner.

Uff we conceded, its either Didas or Brocchis fault. Cant tell yet.

Warro, this is what the official site says about the 3rd goal.

"Kakŕ ghosts in from the left and drives a stunning shot into the top corner of the net."

YESSSS!!!! SO...........how did he score guys?
he was attacking on the left with 2-3 defenders onto him, then cut inside towards the PA and from behind the PA limit sent a powerful shot into the top corner of Anderlecht goal ... no chance for the goallie although the shot was from a long distance :)

Bonnie
01-11-2006, 16:07
Gattuso on, but for who?

Jim_UK
01-11-2006, 16:08
This is what Eurosport said about Kaka's 3rd goal.

GOAL!!!!! 3-0. Kaka with a stunning finish from the edge of the box to complete his hat-trick. Is this guy the best player in the world right now??? He totally wrong-footed Juhasz.

Warro Bantan

Momentary madness, hopefully.

Oliveira is making plenty of little mistakes, but I swear he doesnt look far from being sharp. Over the next few weeks expect him to announce himself.

Bonnie

Gattuso on, Gourcuff off.

Ok, off topic, but Gattuso is the only name that gets pronounced in Italian by the commentator...

Jeff
01-11-2006, 16:09
Gattuso on, but for who?

Good move. You need him to take care of the midfield.

Dida made a save in a good shoot.

I think we are seeing the next World player of the year.

Realistically none of the Italians will win it, Zidane will raise to many eyebrows and Favalli deserves it more than Ronnie this year :coffee:

Milan have gone from wonderful to rubbish.

Raped? Well, sounds bad, but is it as bad as a wire-brushing? :rr30:

This sort of lapse was only to be expected..we have none of our starters in at the back, (or do we?)Rino and Brocci who are prone to mistakes, either in passing or failing to close defenders quickly enough, and Carlo´s teams tend to lose concentration after we go 3 up...nothing new for me here...:moan:

hitmannq8
01-11-2006, 16:15
Pirlo for RO. Uh oh.. x-mas tree

Jeff
01-11-2006, 16:16
after going 3-up, that's right.

Pirlo in, now making the connection there... good move again

zlatanov
01-11-2006, 16:16

and Carlo reacts - Pirlo in for Oliveira playing a 4-5-1 now

Pirlo coming on, much needed.

Oliveira, when will he be consistent? Is it still a question of fitness, or maybe just getting used to the Italian game? I do want him to do well, but if he isn't good enough (like Amoroso last season) ...

the_eels
01-11-2006, 16:18
It's probably because both Oliveira and Gorky are far from full fitness. But seems like solid outings for both.

That's not good for us hitmanq8.....We needed AEK not to win to we can definatly book our place in the last 16. Now, we are basically in.....but our name still won't be written in there because mathematically we can still be out.

Nah man you're wrong

Right now here's the standings:

Milan 7
Lille 5
Athens 2
Anderlecht 2

If milan and athens win:

Milan 10
Lille 5
Athens 5
Anderlecht 2

You're right.. the only way for milan not to make it is if they lose the next 2 games without getting one point
