Hi Guys !

I do not know how many we will be in san Siro (the name we all care about)
Could you tell me what are the pubs/ places not to miss ?
Regarding the game: I think we have a chance since we must fight to get something whereas Milan has got it all cooked.
I hope a 0-1 or 1-2

Dr Milano

This game is a tough one - this isnt cagliari , messina , athens or anything

Milan must put out a good team and try to win ... :de3:

p.s i hope to see many changes in January :musk:

We have won away tonight 1-3 in Nancy (the ones who defeated Feyenoord last week 3-0)
Unfortunatly we have lost our goal keeper, Sylva, who broke his hand.
The replacement is not very good.

milan will beat lille
I don't want to dissapoint you but whenever Milan was in similar situation, Milan wasn't winning. Not because Milan couldn't have beaten all those teams in the past, but because Milan is also an Italian team. And when Italians don't need the win, they don't win - simple as that !

In 2004 Milan didn't need any points against Celtic in the last round, and Milan didn't win ( it ended 0:0) . In 2003 Milan didn't need the points against Celta Vigo because Milan allready won the group, and Milan lost 1:2 at home.
In 2002 Milan played the last group match ( in 2nd phase groups) at home against Dortmund, after allready securing the first place in the group, and Milan lost 0:1. In the same year, in first phase of the groups Milan played the last match again at home, and again after allready being first no matter what happens, against La Coruna, and again you lost 1:2.

As you can see, everytime in last 5 years when Milan didn't need the points in the last round, Milan was always loosing, and once they drew.

Ok, the situation is different now. Ancelotti can be in trouble if he loses another match. But i feel he'll give a rest to some players who must be rested if we know how many matches they need to play for 90 minutes, until the injured guys come back.

On the other hand, Lille desperately needs the points, and if we have in mind that Lille will be 100% motivated and give 101% of them, and they'll play against Milan's "reserves" , then i wouldn't be suprised if Milan won't win this one !

given how many injuries we have, it would be just plain stupid to play a full strength or near full-strength squad and not give rest to players like Brocchi, kaka, Simic, maldini, Janku who have been playing regularly over the past couple of months.
Pirlo could be given a run since he is suspended in Serie A anyway.
If the situation was dif and we had all our players available, I would be pushing for Milan to win even this unimportant for us game but now going for a win with our best available players would be just asking for more injury-related problems.
I would like to see us play some young players and if they manage to pull it off great, if not then at least they will get some first hand CL experience.

I dont think that Kaka will play against Lille...

Kaka was rested to play in this game. I really think that Kaka wants to win the top goalscorer in CL this year, and I think he will play the full game just like how he played all the other games. Also Galliani said 3 times already that Kaka will play on Wednesday.

I dont think it'll be an attractive performance, but we might score a goal if we're lucky. I think 1-1 will suit us. Then our next CL-game will be against Barcelona at Nou Camp. We will draw and then beat them at the San Siro and qualify. Then comes the Euro DERBY. We're gonna win with the help of the referee. Semi's against Real Madrid, confident 4-0 with a 2-0 here and there. Then final we will lose to Lyon after having a 2 goal lead. :tired:

Are u sure Barcelona go to the next phase? I don`t think.I think verder can draw with Barca..When they play at home,Barca score in 93 minute. And if u watch match with Chelsea. They(chelsea) won`t let Werder to win, because they hope to meet Barcelona in final,or before.Because they wait for revenge to Barcelona. And i like Verder footbal, they play soo ofensive.Soo i think Verder can draw with Barca...and i hope that....Milan vs Lille..I alredy say..Milan need this win.I think Milan won`t let Lille to win!

I'm just gritting my teeth...a headline like this from Carlo...the man doesn't inspire me one bit, even with his reasoning... :wth:

Ancelotti wants useless win Tuesday 5 December, 2006

I can't even make myself post the article...here's the link...

not sure I see your point, Debs ... that stupid headline is what the journalists came up with ... has nothing to do with what Carlo was quoted of saying - at least I didn't see anything remotely close to it in the article above.

:wallbang: Even seeing that someone else would read into something Carlo said as beeing a "worthless win"....well, it came from something he said or it would not be worded Ancelotti wants a worthless win...

Inspire me....say instead "we want to win so that it boosts our confidence," don't mealy-mouth around so someone can interpret it as wanting a worthless win... :p1510:

too many assumptions, Debs ... after all, it's article-sellers we are dealing with here.
He never said anything that could possibly be interpreted as a "worthless win" ... unless someone really wanted to sell ... mhm, sorry "see" it that way.

I just found out from acmilan.com that GRAHAM POLL will be the ref am confused how he gets a high profile game like this, every time ive seen him ref in the prem this season he has been really time after time he is leave alone the world cup he had.

Milan_Mad...this game may be many things, but a high profile game it is not.

It doesnt matter to Milan if we win this or no...it may, and probably does matter to Lille...but how do you say this is high profile? Because it is in the UCL? As Englandīs most highly regarded ref (by the FA dude, the FA, not Joe Public), UEFA had to give him a game, and, since everyone but the English FA know he is bullocks, they gave him this "useless" game.

Debs...I think u r reading a little too much into this, and allowing your anti-Ancelotti bias to affect your usually astute reasoning...I agree with Zlat...you have bought what the journalists were selling...

Let me ask you this Debs...say you were not an AC Milan fan...would you stop to read an article about Milan and Lille, were the headline to read: "Milan field full strength team, though already through to last 16" ....?

Doubt it...but, the headline is catchy, even for the neutral...since thoretically there is no such thing as a useless win..or useless goals for that matter...but that is another argument entirely.

Milan_Mad Graham Poll is a great arbitre.
And..I think Borriello wouldn`t start the game..I think Oli. will start whe game. And i don`t know what to i think..Milan let Lille to win,or Milan will play to win Lille.I hope Milan will win this game..because it`s very important game for Milan, and Ancelotti.

Today I was drawing on paper what My starting line-up would be and yours is exactly the same....
I have been waiting this season to see how the Borriello/Gila attack goes, and we eventually got to see it in the Cagliari game... and both forwards scored, only other time both our forwards score din the same games wa sagainst Lazio- except for the Coppa Italia clash!
Kaka, he actually wasn't rested for this game he had an injury in his foot, but has recovered!
Borcchi was also injured but he seem sto be fine!

I would like to see this starting line-up, maybe we can get somewhere, and back to winning ways!

Forza Milan!

I just hope to see us rest as many players as possible, especially Pirlo (he's off against Torino anyway, but an extra week of rest won't hurt him) Brocchi and Gourcuff maybe.

FORZA MILAN!!!!!!!!!

zlatanov
06-12-2006, 10:10
I think Pirlo's suspension has given him a sure start vs Lille as it would be better to rest either Seedorf (most probably will take Pirlo's position vs Torrino) or Brocchi or Gorky, who's played 3 full games in 1 week now.
would love to see both Gorky and Kaka rested but they both are virtually ceratin to play.

Good news is Ambro is back in the team ... and I hope he stays injury free for some time now given that Gattuso is out till January.

It's been suggested in the Italian press that Carlo would be keeping an eye on Keita - a Mancini-type of player, who can operate on the right flang or as a support striker of the type of Giuly and Farfan.

Did you watch Keita , Zlat ???
If you didn't then please do tonight. Because if this guy gives at least 50% of what he has shown on those matches i had a chance to watch him, i'm sure you'll be impressed !

zlatanov
06-12-2006, 10:50
yeas, Tony, I've watched him and I sare the same opinion as you.
I have always wanted a mancini-type of player at Milan as this would make our tactics more flexible, and keita is my second choice after ... well, Mancini himself :). He would also be much cheaper and easier to get than the Brasilian.
Only issue is that getting him would take up the non-EU player spot as he's from Cote d'Ivoire and I don't think he has a French passport or something.

Warro Bantan
06-12-2006, 11:40
Wasnt $heva a "Mancini" type player...or well, maybe he was our soloution for this...since he could both "playmake" to a certain extent, as well as score...a classic #10 is what u r referring to....rite? :dontkn:

zlatanov
06-12-2006, 12:05
no, I don't think Sheva could be seen as that since Sheva was an all-around striker at Milan and was free to roam all over the field and wasn't constraint to the flanks ... Although, come to think of it, right now Mancini is increasingly being used at Roma more as a striker rather than his usual role on the wings.

What I mean by a Mancini-type of player is someone who could operate all over the right flang - a right wing-back and/or a right wing - players like Giuly in Barca, Farfan in PSV, Mancini in Cappelo's Roma, C. ronaldo in Portuguese NT, etc.

These are players who give you both pace and width in attack and can help the team go quickly from defence into attack and back ... a player like Serginho was for us on the left before Carlo started using him exclusively as an attacking LB.

The main idea of having such players is not to change our formation altogether but be able to employ more flexible tactics and adjust our formation looking for the most effective one - from 4-3-1-2 to 4-4-2 to 4-2-3-1 to 3-4-2-1 to 3-4-1-2 and dif variations - depending on our opponent and their style of play.

right now we don't have such a player in the team and with Sergio likely to leave soon, same could be said for the left side in midfield too.

Warro Bantan
06-12-2006, 12:10
I thought u meant Interīs Mancini from his Lazio/Samp days...now I understand what you mean...we should simply recall Foggia then...IMO.

Jim_UK
06-12-2006, 14:07
It seems more than likely we will sell Foggia for a cheap price as 'bait' to get Oddo. Didn't Boban describe Foggia as one of the two most exciting young Italian prospects? I'm pretty sure he did, which would make our decision to sell him completely ludicrous and inkeeping with the chaotic nature of the management's present mindset.

nothing funny or unusual when Real M is already qualified and this game changes nothing for them ... chances are they are playing lots of reserve players and most of the first team ones' who are playing, aren't giving their best.
In these last rounds of CL when lots of teams have already qualified, one could expect a lot of curious results ;)

the only ones Anderlecht should hate is themselves.

just saw the goal - a ling shot by Bodemr, I think, and kalac put the ball with his save into Odemwinge's legs who had to just tap it in an empty net.
Kalac could/should have done much better at saving the shot, although in all fairness, the shot was indeed a very difficult one to deal with - fast ball going in the top corner of the net.

K77SH C
06-12-2006, 15:41
Very poor performances from the front two who seem capable of no more than working hard. Ambrosini doesnt eve n know he is allowed to control the ball, Simic cant even clear the ball or pass it out of defence. Apart from the goal Kalac isnt too bad, which is a bonus I suppose.

And Bonera, well he is such a dreadful excuse for a Milan player. He rarely takes the oppertunity to cross the ball when he gets a chance. He doesnt ever consider running forwards with the ball. He rarely passes the ball forwards, almost all of his passes are sideways or backwards. And how often does this guy make a clean tackle, most of the time he wins it back by fouling the opposition. If he is one of the better Italian defenders arround at the moment then Italy are doomed. If we had more options in midfiled I would love to see this poor excuse of a Milan player benched and for Brocchi to play rightback.

Inzaghi was alerted by Italian special forces that a Russian spy plane was doing a fly by, so he tried to shoot it down with the ball...hopeless.

If that was the case he would have scored

Pathetic loss for a home game! 2-0! AGH!
Am I right to say that Milan hit the crossbar twice or not? I didn't see the match

The more I watch Gourcuff play..the more I'm impressed with how well the guy plays football at such a tender age. He's never too hasty with the ball and always prefers to pass instead of shoot.

All these losses and Galliani still thinks there's nothing wrong and its just luck?? FIRE THE FKING BALDY IVE HAD IT WITH HIM!! FFS wat should we fans do? SHUD WE DONATE MONEY TO BUY PLAYERS? FFS, Berlusconi, your reputation is going down and being rubbed on the floor. If you dont want to help Milan, then let someone else hold Milan. If you do, STOP WAITING and do so NOW. Dont wait till January, do so NOW. I dont care if u bring Moggi to Milan, just DO ANYTHING that will turn milan successful.

And about the draw, I think Milan and PSV are teams that often match each other and it is simply meant to be for us to be with them. We have played them in the last 2 years in CL but we have also played Barca in the last 2 years so I dunno. I personally prefer Celtic or Porto.

The title on acmilan.com will probably be " Milan again on top in CL..." Galliani will say: " we are no.1 in UEFA standings..." and Carlo: " yes, we did well, we just need time, more speed and strikers are worlds class"

Milan has no honor, and thinking I grew up with the legendary squads with Van Basten, Rijkaard, Gullit, Rossi, Savicevic, Boban, Maldini, Albertini, ect ect, we are but a dark ghost of those glorious times, a shame, a dishonor.

Thank God we dont have United, my friends would destroy me. And I would have no deffence if Milan play like this.

Gourcuff is a pleasure to watch and will only get better.

I agree. As we are playing now we could have saved the high player-wages and played with Ibrahim Ba's grandmother instead. This season only one player deserves wearing a Milan shirt: Kaka... All of the rest? Replace them.

If we continue like this we will struggle to finish top 10 in the league and we will go out in the next round of the CL no matter who we play.

I've lost all hope for this season, which also means I've lost all hope of playing the CL next season, which again tells me no real star-players will join us in the summer...

Am I too negative? Hmmm... Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow... :dconf:

And it doesnt matter who we face...we go out in this round...we will lose vs any of these teams...including Celtic. What a pathetic performance, we gained NOTHING from this game, except tired players, and maybe a gradual awareness that we are now second class, and dropping fast, when compared with our former peers in Europe...not to mention Italy.

I havent eaten lunch, but I have no appetite.

What a dismal display! Reminds me of the Zaccerphon...er Zacceroni era...clueless....and what will come of this...nothing..nada, zip, zilch...nothing.

Berlu just needs to sell the club, since the wishes of his kids are more important than Milan is now...worse, he doesnt need the club anymore to support his political ambitions..we can forget about heavy investment...

I am so disgusted with the way we played today...totally sick to my stomach. :d55:
