View Full Version : Serie A
I believe it would serve a good purpose to have a place where one can express views about the finest level of Italian football.
Therefore this can be a place where you can discuss about Serie A in general. :)
All matches have been completed of the first round. Here are my visions;
- Juventus will not win Lo Scudetto.
- Juventus despite their impressive result at home vs. Livorno have grave problems. The defence is new and during the first 10 minutes you could see the positioning problems.
- The Old Lady also need to work on the tightness of the chains, this however is something that can be improved on the training pitch.
- Inter are strong and will be even stronger once Chivu and Suazo will be integrated into the side.
- Roma have a more complete squad this season. It is the best squad Luciano Spalletti has had since he arrived in Rome.

In honesty i thought Inter looked weak today against Udinese, they left too much space and looked tired and out of shape and lacked concentration in the last 30 mins
Inter were so poor today it was unreal. Maybe someone should tell them this was the start of the season and not just a practice match! Yes, it's the first game but it's clear they lack any kind of pace in midfield. Figo & Stankovic are just old slow men now and if you close them down it stops them dominating.
Both teams were just so slack at closing down it was a joke, talk about space ... you could have driven a bus through some of those gaps! Samuel & Maxwell look the best players to target as both seemed uncomfortable dealing with the ball. Likewise for Udinese, the whole of their left side seemed completely open and easy to exploit. Also if Quagliarella doesn't improve i'll be glad we didn't get him, he has to have the slowest step over in the world.
Both teams were poor in most areas of the field, though as i said at the top, it's the first game so a lot of leway has to be given at this stage.
IMO Mancini fielded a lineup that was too offensive. Udinese created too many chances because the Inter side did not close Udinese down.
i think even if they had a more usual 4-4-2 with Cambiasso & Vieira in the middle, they still wouldn't have closed them down ... they were just completely laxidasical in their approach today. Plus a more defensive line up would have surely limited their forward play even more.
For me it was audacious to field a 4-3-1-2 lineup vs. Udinese. Frankly I think Roberto Mancini underestimated Udinese. It's not like they were facing a bottom side.
i don't think it was the formation, but the players. Udinese's midfield was almost non existant in the first half ... and like i said, down their left they had huge gaps. Their left-back was particularly poor. So had Inter exploited that more they could have been at least 1 more goal up at half time.
However, where i think they failed was with their midfield and defence. Daccourt did his best but he wasn't offering much protection the back 4, neither was Stankovic or Zanetti. Plus the Inter defence were so slack to close people down, it gave the Udinese front 3 (which were quite dangerous, well Asamoah & Quagliarella were, Flores was a bit of a waste really) alot of confidence to attack them. Inter invited the pressure on themselves. Had they had a stronger mind set, they should have steam rollered Udinese by 3 or 4 goals.
In other news...I heard Grimi tore up the left side for Siena today :D
Should never underestimate the younger side of our team; they can easily earn a place in a second-tier to almost top-tier team. Think about this: If the average age of the MIlan squad is about 28/29, how do you expect to play when you are 22/23 (unless you have the finest skill of Kaka?) J
One thing is for sure. We saw a lot of answers during Saturday and Sunday. Many more than I'd expected.

Assist of the week : Ibrahimovic (Inter)
Player of the week : David Trezeguet (Juve)
Clown of the week : Julio Cesar (Inter)

I like the idea
Back on round 1. What i noticed is that the 3 most beautiful goals of this round were scored by the midfield trio of the previous Azzurini - Rosina, Aquilani and Montolivo.
By reading the reports i can see that all 3 of them had very good matches and were the best players of their teams.
Chiellini also played a mega-game and was great defensively and going forward. Pazzini also scored a goal while Nocerino and Criscito earned their place in Juve's starting XI. Rossi is doing good in Villareal and Palladino is good in Juve.
Azzurini didn't shine on the last u21 EURO, but this generation has a lot of talent and many of these players will someday be european biggest football stars.

Sorry I haven't been around much, as I just moved into college and had no internet.
I'm pleasantly surprised to see we had ourselves a good game.
The best goal of the round was Aquilani's strike in the match vs. Palermo.
i thought Rosina's goal was excellent, i really wish we'd buy him.

Kaka -- Rosina
---Ronaldo---
Excellent, indeed.
I also like Rosina, i enjoy watching him play and i think he will do great in Milan. He runs as much as Gattuso, he is as strong physically as Gattuso, he works as hard as Gattuso and yet he has the dribbling and the technique of a Brasilian.
All due respect to Aquilani, Montolivo, Nocerino or Chiellini, but Rosina is the best and most talented young Italian player. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be the next #10 in Italian NT.
And now just imagine the #10's of Italy and Brasil playing behind some top striker in Milan.... geez, scary for a Juventino :)
Most of you won't agree, but it's my feeling that Rosina will be better for Milan than Ronaldinho. Dinho is the better player atm, but with Rosina you'll still get top quality, you won't have two world's greatest stars ego's in the same team and you'll get a more hungry and more motivated player....not to mention much more cheaper option and 4 years younger than Dinho.
The only negative thing i see in Rosina is the team play. In Torino he is one-man-show and he does everything there. He'll have to get used to team play if he wants to be successful in Milan.
Once a Milan fan told me that Milan and Torino have great relationships and that when Rosina will leave Torino, he'll probably go to Milan.
It would be a nice surprise for the end of the transfer window :D
But while Berlusconi keeps with his Ronaldinho dream, it won't matter how good Rosina is or could be, he won't be Ronaldinho.
Aquilani is better than Rosina.
I disagree. Plus i don't think they play in the same positions anyway, so it's not right to compare them.

Aquilani, if he avoids injuries, can become a powerful weapon for Roma. Spalletti is the type of man who might actually give him a good stretch of matches.
Don't underestimate Roma this season.
I found this article on juventuz.com. It refers to internal turmoil within Inter.
Vieira: I hate Materazzi
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Patrick Vieira may be Marco Materazzi’s Inter teammate, but that doesn’t mean they’re friends. “I will never sit at a table with him.”
The furore over that infamous Zinedine Zidane head butt has flared up again ahead of the September 8 Euro 2008 qualifier with France.
Above all, now Matrix has finally revealed what he said to spark off that reaction from the former Juventus star, Vieira has rushed to Zizou’s defence.
“I think Materazzi is a great player who had an excellent World Cup and scored a goal in the Final,” said Vieira in an interview on French television TF1.
“There are those who love him and those who hate him. I will only say that, as far as I am concerned, I will never sit at a dinner table with him.”
Considering the two players have been teammates at Inter for a year and won the Scudetto together, that is an extremely damning statement to give to the Press.
The ex-Arsenal legend also had problems in the past with another Nerazzurri figure, assistant manager Sinisa Mihajlovic, but seems to have put that behind him.
France boss Raymond Domenech, who has been called by UEFA to provide proof of his allegations that Italy “bought the referee” in an Under-21 match in 1999, cranked up the tension further.
“That story has made a lot of noise over there,” Vieira told the French media. “They are trying to increase the tension because this game on September 8 is very important to them. It’s more decisive for Italy than France, as they absolutely cannot afford to lose.”
The two sides are battling for the leadership of Group B and a victory would catapult the Azzurri to the top spot.
“We must remain concentrated on the field and not think about anything else. I am not surprised they chose San Siro as the venue, this is a mythical stadium where there will be 80,000 fans.”

If someone's interested in what's happening in Empoli , i will update Empoli-Inter here in this topic.
The match will start in 40 minutes
I hope we'll see some Giovinco magic tonight and i hope we'll again see Moratti's face from the end of Inter-Udinese :grinser:
I guess we need to hope that our biggest rival for Serie A will drop points tonight. Inter is Inter. Everything is possible.
Zlatan scored and Inter leads.
Empoli had a penalty call but i think it wasn't a peno
Inter leads 1:0 at HT
Zlatan is such a magician with the ball and yet extremely useful at the same time. I can't believe that Juve sold him to Inter of all the teams in the world :(
Empoli are weak. They did have one great chance though, but Antonini blew it.

Empoli pressure.
Giovinco is class.
Too bad for Empoli they had Zlatan against them. Without Zlatan this team Inter had today would be average.
But Empoli at least proved that they have the capacity to be a mid-table team and sooner or later a favorite will surely lose points against them.
but Antonini blew it.
That's our player isn't it?
Rosina's goal was definately better than Aquilani's, as was Monty's for Fiorentina.
I'm hoping for lots of goals this afternoon for Cagliari that is :D

Yes, i totally forgot he was one of those co-owned players between Milan and Empoli. Not a bad player from what i could have seen. He was one of the most active on the field. But he is already 25 and i doubt he'll play for Milan. If he was this good and if he was 19 or 20 then maybe he could have developed to a player worthy to play in Milan. This way i'm affraid it's too late for him.
I totally agree on sentence #2
Sentence # 3 shows the main difference between Milan and Juve fans. Milan fans want Juve to lose every single match (and it's a right way of thinking, since we are bitter rivals) but many fools in Juventuz.com (actually, bigger part of the members there) are even cheering for Milan and they want Milan to win every single match (apart from Milan-Juve) just so Inter won't be the champions.
Go figure
Antonini is 25? Is he a left-back?
I seem to remember Ancelotti speaking highly of someone with a similar name to Antonini, i think i must be getting them muddled up.
nevermind, i was thinking of Antonelli
I'm only supporting Cagliari because of Foggia (i still think of him as a Milan player) and some forward they have on loan from us :D
Juve dont look that strong to me - Cagliari are playing well
I watched the Ch5 highlight programme and it said that there was a forward at Cagliari on loan from Milan ... naturally i assumed it was us, but hearing them talk about a forward Cagliari have from Inter in part of the Suazo deal, i guess it was from them instead.
Foggia is playing really well, such a shame we didn't give him more of a chance. We could really do with him as a good alternative to Seedorf & Kaka. :(
Juve look like they don't care at all, no ideas, bad passing ... you better get down there and kick their asses into gear Tony!

Palermo is winning with 4 goals to nothing at the Armando Picchi against Livorno( who is the Serie A worst team and even if it's only the second game, i do believe they are a serious candidate to go down.)
Napoli does the same at Udine, leading with 2 goals and this is really a big surprise.
Torino is playing with Rosina and Recoba against Reggina: 1 to 1 - Amoruso and Rosina (45' ) the scorers.
I like Novellino, he is always jumping and screaming and I'll never forget his dribblings in our star's season with Bigon De Vecchi and Buriani.
Also Atalanta is 1 to 0 at home with Parma.
But the best games will be played tonight and tomorrow .
Jim, I believe the (Milan) player on loan is Matri and the player Cagliari has had from Inter is Acquafresca http://www.calciatori.com/calcom/almanacco/calciatore.jsp?id=24201

The result is changed two times in 2 minutes at Sant'Elia: first goal for Juve with 'snakezeguet' and then immediately Cagliari equalized thanks to a penalty (Foggia) caused by Legrottaglie on Matri . Now 1 to 1
If the ref didn't change the decision and gave a penalty, then i would have stopped to watch serie A for ever !
So lads, your comments ?
Calciopoli never ended, as Warro said !
Cagliari deserved to win this one, though
The ref was the worst one i've seen. Why the hell did he give the red cards ? Where did he see 3 penalties ?

edit: What the **** is happening there ? armageddon ?
Juve scores the third goal and it wasn't a foul to begin with.
I'm serious guys, this ref was the worst one i've seen in my life. He completely robbed both Juve and Cagliari.

There is no such language in which I can describe how much I hate and despize Juve! those bastards did it again and every single time things dont go their way they get so pissed off like its the end of the world. Class - 0 points!
Nedved is a ***** that plays dengerous in every second tackle and this Cagliari GK is an imbecil! What the hell did he do with the 2nd and the 3d goal???? And Zebina?? Slapping the reporter?? BAN HIM!
God I hate them, but now Im sure that they cant win scudetto, unless Delk Piero just decides to fell down every time they need a free kick... bastardi!

Knowing you, i hope you're kidding, because if you're not .... :(
Ok, for all who didn't watch the match :
1. The ref gives a penalty to Cagliari for the replica challenge of Livorno-Juve (Iaquinta). If you think that wasn't a penalty for Juve then this certainly wasn't a penalty for Cagliari
2. One marvelous, amazing save by Buffon, but they didn't show the replays to see if he saved it on the line or the ball was IN. Very suspicious situation and my initial thought was that the ball was IN. But they must show a replay
3. Chiellini makes a clean tackle on ball and the ref gives a penalty. Chiellini is furious and it took 3 Juve players to stop him from killing the ref.
Thankfully, the linesman told the ref that there was absolutely no penalty and the ref changed the decision.
4. Corner for Cagliari. Zebina and one Cagliari attacker are pushing themselves in the box , far from the ball. Cagliari's player falls and the ref gives a penalty. On every corner kick there is such situation, absolutely on every CK. But this ref is the one in a thousand who gives a peno for that.
Zebina is furious at this decission and the ref gives him a red card.
5. Cagliari defender makes a normal foul. There was absolutely no base to give him a card. But the ref knows that he gave a red to Zebina for nothing and he wants to make things equal. But this is not middle age trading you bloody idiot of a ref. You don't make things better by making them worse.
The ref of course gives a yellow to Cagliari's defender, it's his second yellow and he's out.
6. Del Piero and one Cagliari defender are fighting for the ball. Just like for Cagliari's penalty kick. Del Piero falls and the ref gives a foul. This wasn''t a foul, but according to our dear ref everyone who falls must have been fouled. The ref gives a free kick. Camoranesi takes the FK, makes a cross andChiellini scores from it.
Not to mention all the stupid and needless yellow cards he gave to Juve and Cagliari players.
The ref must be send to Serie D !
Note: Some of You guys are completely biased. I can't believe you are such cry babies.
Sorry Mrki, but you are a fool if you think the ref was helping Juve. And how do you expect Juve players to react when the ref gives 3 penalties and a red card to them for NOTHING
Tony face it Juve are the biggest cheats in the history of Italian football, they should give away all the scudettis they have won to the teams that came 2nd.
No wonder they are ahead of Milan domestically, however in Europe you belong in the same league as Nottingham Forest. There aint the same refs in Europe, you dont get any help (they should of sent your team to Seria D with a minus 100 point deduction EVERY year.)
Ref didnt help Juve, its true. But for me, as a Milan fan, it would be nice if just once the refs dont help Juve somehow, in some way.

But a real man takes the win as he takes the defeat. This ref did more bad than good to Juve today. He did more bad than good to Cagliari.

Think of it this way mate.
Juve scored 2 goals and both times Cagliari was equalising by an inexisting penalty. Then it was Juve's turn to take the win by an inexisting foul.
And have in mind...the ref gave 3 dubious (actually 2, because he thankfully changed the decision) penalties to Cagliari and one dubious free kick to Juve.
There is a difference between giving a dubious peno and a dubious free-kick.
It's not my fault that Juve knew how to take advantage of the free-kick.
P.S : Foggia was MVP imo. Such a great winger.
Juve was pathetic. Awful defense, 0 midfield and only the huge quality of the 5 star players gave the win to them.
Cagliari impressed me. They can get to Europe if they play this way.
Learn how to accept a defeat ;)
Learn to open your eyes, as well as blind Juve has made you brainwashed.
Foggiamade some Juve players think about retirement after this season especially Zaneti :D , and yep Cagliari deserved to win this one

I'm in no mood for fighting man. I have to go to a wedding in 2 hours and i don't want to go there even more angry after the ref made me go crazy.
Think whatever you like. I am realistic here and i said what happened. Everyone who watched the match knows what was happening, except for you , obviously.
You can't be more biased than this.
I will apologize again for Juve winning today. I think that's their only sin and that's the only reason why you are mad.
Actually Tony I think the second penalty was valid, and the first one was the same as Juve got against Livorno so...
But I do agree thet ref was awfull, and so was Juve and Cagliari who managed to buy the worst GK af all times!! ( 2nd goal, DP miss and the third...). Wnyway, my bed was on Juve, Roma and Arsenal, and I got the money. Around 30 euro, not much but its ok, for the drinks :grinser:
Did you see Aquilani goal?? WOW :respect: We know who will be Milan's replacement for Seedorf :)
What a crazy 2nd half to the Cagliari v Juventus match. The ref did himself no favours at all, i think he just went completely mad!
Juve were lucky, really lucky today as they looked totally out of sorts in all areas. But yet they got 3 points and teams like that are always dangerous.
Aquilani's goal was great, but Giuly's celebration after he scored was even better :D

You're such a class Jaime. Looks like you were operated from bias and you're always a realist :5ok:
Exactly my thoughts by the way. The referee was a disaster. Cagliari were the much better team but still they couldn't score without two very dubious penalties given to them. Juve were awful but still good enough to punish Cagliari with 3 goals.
Mrki, the first penalty was much more of a penalty than the second one. The second one was a peno given for a situation that happens during every single corner kick . If that was a penalty then every single CK in the world must result with a penalty kick.
This referee was giving fouls on both sides every single time someone felt on the grass. If he's given another match this year than Collina is out of his mind.
haha, don't get too carried away Tony ... i still wanted Juve to lose, but thanks anyway man :D
But i think now i'm older i'm able to look at things a bit more subjectively than i used to, in the end all these things are just not worth the hassle :grinser:

Did you watch the full match , btw ?
I'm interested what do you (and the others here) think about Foggia and Milan selling him.
He was included in Oddo's transfer but i think Milan would have done better if they payed a little bit more for Oddo and kept Foggia (or at least loaned him or co-owned him).
Foggia was MOM in the first match according to all the reports and he was MOM again today, imo.
Such a class, pace, dribbling... and his crosses are a story of it's own, real perfection.
I think Zanetti and Chiellini will have nightmares for the rest of their lives when they hear his name.
I watched about 3/4 of the match, i missed the first 20/25 mins of the 2nd half.
I think it was a mistake giving Foggia up so easily. He should have been given more opportunities and all those times we've played with just 1 striker and 2 advanced midfielders (Kaka, Seedorf) last season, he'd have been ideal to come on as a sub for either of them or as a valid alternative when we needed to rest one.
Fair enough if the player wanted to move on himself, but if he was given more opportunities (that his skill would have warranted) he could have been a useful player for us right now. We've given lesser players more opportunities (Boriello springs to mind), so i just think we gave up on him a bit too easily.
Still, i guess it means we can after Rosina now :D
plus it might not be so bad, we might consider signing him again when he's over 30 :grinser:

Awards :
Player of the week : Fabrizzio Miccoli (Palermo) and Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli)
The choice was between Lavezzi, Zlatan, Foggia, Camoranesi and Miccoli. I've chosen two of them :
Lavezzi had a hell of a match where he made Zapata and co. crazy. He is already hailed as the new Maradona in Naples. He scored a goal and made 3 assists. He's a real magician with the ball this guy. He'll be big one day.
Fabrizzio Miccoli - The small Palermo man was simply brilliant on Sunday. Whenever he touched the ball a chance was created. He scored 2 goals, assisted one goal and was directly involved in one of the goals (took the free kick). He created few more chances for the others and he also found himself in few chances.
10.00 for Miccoli and Lavezzi ..... they are my my MVP's of the round
Goal of the week : Alberto Aquilani (Roma)
Assist of the week : Amauri (Palermo)
Clown of the week : Johnatan Zebina (Juventus)
Zebina must understand that Juve will get a lot of dubious calls against them. If he reacts like this everytime a dubious penalty is given vs Juve, he'll get a red card in every second match.
He's not a kid anymore to react the way he reacted. If he wants to kick someone he should do that to Moggi, because Moggi is the reason for what's happening to Juve, it's not the cameraman. Slapping the cameraman was the most idiotic thing he could have done. 1 month ban is the least he should get !
Save of the week : Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus)
How the hell did he save that shot ?
Team of the week : Napoli
Need i say why ? :)
Here's some food for the conspiracy theorists :
Back in 1928, during the fascist era in Italy, Inter's name was changed to Ambrosiana SS Milano (unofficially, they were the team of the regime).
Their official jersey was a White jersey with a red cross.
Milan were also forced to change their red&black jersey into a white jersey with a black and red line vertically across the chest.
That's not a problem at all....the fascits regime forced them to change their jerseys.
But the problem is this..... now Inter took back that old 1928 jersey they were "forced" to wear by the fascist.
Why did they ?
Is Massimo M. a fascist ?
:) :grinser:
The second picture is the old Ambrosiana jersey and on the first one you can see the new away jersey.
And to add a little more salt .....
Inter ultras are traditionally right-wing.
No need to tell you that fascism was an extreme right-wing ideology.

anyway, according to me, every ultras is stupid and obviously fascist inside, included those of Milan too

I know what the cross means.
It's the same cross from England's flag, the St.George's cross.
St.George is the patron of England and of Milano, that's why both England and the city of Milano share the same cross.
But i still think it was a bad move by Inter to have this cross on their jersey. They were forced to change their black&blue jerseys in 1928 by the fascists and they were forced to use St.George's cross.
Personally, i very much doubt that this move has anything to do with Mussolini era but obviously some people think otherwise ( i read on many places about this problem with the jersey before i posted it here).

Ranieri counts Juve casualties
Saturday 8 September, 2007
Claudio Ranieri is counting the cost of Juventus’ friendly defeat at Real Zaragoza that left Antonio Nocerino, Raffaele Palladino and Jean-Alain Boumsong injured.
The 2-1 loss in Spain only damaged the Serie A leaders’ fitness situation with Alessandro Birindelli, Zdenek Grygera and Marco Marchionni already sidelined.
“It was a very tough game,” commented the Coach. “As I said beforehand, the result was not the important thing. I wanted to play everyone so they could regain match fitness.
“Unfortunately, I could not do that because Zaragoza played in a very aggressive manner and I was forced to make my substitutions earlier than expected.”
Under-21 international midfielder Nocerino sprained his ankle in the first half and Boumsong was stretchered off with a suspected left thigh strain.
During the half-time break Palladino joined the injury list with a less serious knock than the other two Bianconeri players.
Ouch. It always sucks to get players injured in friendly matches.

Juve - another disastrous performance. Though deserved at least a point with the chances, they deserved 0 with the way they played.
Pay-back for the undeserved win vs Cagliari.
Juve is another one-man team. At the moment Camoranesi leaves the field, Juve does nothing.

yesterday matches really have been interesting:
according to me,
-Zampagna scored an(other) incredible goal
-Recoba runs with Novellino
-Roma is a great all-round team this season
-anyway it's too early to judge, take a look at Udinese, Napoli and Juve (undestand Tony? :bri: yesterday Juve deserved a draw with the woods hitten by Del Peter :w154: )
-next sunday will tell us something more about the real situation
and obviously I don't want to talk about the circus :grinser:
next matches 23 september
Udinese - Reggina
Milan - Parma
Atalanta - Lazio
Cagliari - Palermo
Catania - Fiorentina
Empoli - Napoli
Livorno - Inter
Roma - Juventus
Torino - Siena
Sampdoria - Genoa
ps.: Petit will be out for about 6 week and this is a great loss for Benfica, because he is their soul, just like Gattuso for us.

Inter is also drawing at the moment :diablo:

Roma - Juve 2:2 Drawing at last minute, like as usualy ! Unbeliveable.
We're 4 points off first place after Roma and Inter also drew. It seems playing in Europe effected everyone.
It was a crazy match in Rome. Roma blew a perfect chance to go 4/4 but then again, Juve missed a penalty at 2:1 so the draw is fair.
Juve's defense is probably the worst in serie A. Only one man in the world can save Juve from getting humiliated with this defense and thankfully for Juve, they have him - Gigi Buffon.
Totti is a terrific player and it's a real joy to watch Roma going forward.
Juve on the other hand - Iaquinta played the match of his life but the others (except for Zanetti, Grygera and Buffon) were close to a disaster, especially Del Piero who missed a sitter and then missed a penalty kick. Always except the unexpected from this Juve team. They have some class in the team capable to hurt the best teams in Italy, but they will lose a looooot of points against the minor teams with this defense.
Inter :haha:

I got to hand it to Juve, as even when they are pretty much totally outplayed like today they still manage to grind out results. Buffon was awesome.
Bad news for me and good for you is that Andrade is out for the season.
The best player of the awful defense is now out. It leaves Criscito and Legrottaglie as the only central defenders in Juventus.
There will be many goals whenever Juve plays this season, i can tell you that :)
edit : Did you see what did Maicon do :sleepy:
@Tony29: I haven't watched Juve this season. How is Chiellini doing?
@Tony29: I haven't watched Juve this season. How is Chiellini doing?
Nothing special. He's more usefull in attack than in defense.
He was perfect against poor Livorno, then he was bad against Cagliari (actually, not bad, but outplayed on 2 occasions against Foggia) but scored the winning goal , then he did very good against Udinese and today, eventhough he didn't make any mistakes, he did suffer against Roma's superb midfield. Still, he assisted the second goal.
Thank you. Along with Buffon, Chiellini is the player I want to have in Milan:D.
Juve on the other hand - Iaquinta played the match of his life
Game of his life? He's been playing like that for the past year. Brilliant signing by Juve and he gives some desperately need creativity in the absence of Camoranesi. We should have signed him and let you have Gilardino.

Yeah, tell this to all the Del Piero fanboys in Juventuz.com who do nothing but wait for Iaquinta to miss a chance so they can start attacking him and the managment. ( they did the same thing with Ibrahimovic)
Personally i never liked Iaquinta, and i still don't like him, but so far he was decissive in both matches he played (against Livorno and today against Roma) and he's Juve's best player this season, together with Zanetti and Buffon.
He looks very good in the position he played for Italy at the WC ( support striker, playing on the right)

Assist of the week : Many beautiful assists this round but the winner is Kaka
Team of the week : It would have been Palermo because they've beaten a favorite, Milan, but from what i read they didn't play well and they were helped by the refs. That's why the team of the week is Juve

Looks like a repeat of the Man U episode for Roma. Christ! They've played the most attractive football this season and now they've fallen apart. Spaletti and his late subs. What is he thinking?! Cicinho should've came on earlier.

and its always Inter they choke on... cant remember them playing so bad against us.
It's interesting how less than a week ago i talked about how this Roma can be easily crushed by an organized strong team. Inter plays the same way they did last year when they've beaten them 0:1 in Rome.
Ok, the red card helped them a lot, but the tactics were the same.
curry chicken
29-09-2007, 13:43
Roby that's because we've forgotten how to keep leads in Serie A + our neverending striker woe. But to Inter's credit they're keeping their focus and dominating Roma well.
It's nice to Cicinho in action again.
I feel sad for Roma and how lost they are.
Just look at Totti. He gets subbed and he forgot to give captains armband to someone else. He's sitting on the bench with it.
curry chicken
29-09-2007, 13:50
Woah, Totti must be gutted if he forgot to hand over the armband. Man U is either going to get a through beating, or it's going to be a giallo fest with all the rage Roma will be fielding.
Oh and there's a little drama as expected at the end between players. Well, what do you expect it's Inter.
Zlatan was injured and substituted around 50th minute.
I "hope" it's not a serious injury

ACMILAN1983
29-09-2007, 16:14
Pretty unsurprised with the Inter-Roma match. I can imagine Inter simply played as they did last year against Roma and at this point, Roma haven't got the ability to play a different game.
Then again, I could be wrong and the red card played a bigger part than I've given credit for
Zlatan was injured and substituted around 50th minute.
I "hope" it's not a serious injury
:D
Of course, we all hope he returns untill the spring... :grinser:
I think the red card killed them. Inter is funny team, but playing with 10 against them is too much. And who is the brainiac that said Giuly was the best buy in serieA this summer :D They should keep their Wilmhelson or whoever was that guy...
Mancini's changes are just oposite of Ancelotti's changes (maybe mental too). I guess Mancini is "Win, then win more". Ancelotti: "1-0, that's enough, 1-1, no problem, we will score latter, 2-1 (FT), we have to play CL next week, well energy saving".
Wow Treze was an acre offside on that goal. Juve pull off a 1-0 win over Torino.
Wow Treze was an acre offside on that goal. Juve pull off a 1-0 win over Torino.
It was an offside, wasn't it ?
Passive offside that became active when Torino's player passed the ball to Trez.
If i know the rules well this was an offside, unless that passive offside rule still counts.
Commentator here kept repeating that it wasn't an offside, but i think according to the rules it was.
The most boring match ever. Until the goal Torino had 0 chances and Juve had only 1 chance ( in 85th minute)
You can imagine what a match it was
It was an offside, come on...!!! what the hell is wrong with this league???!!! **** this, im going to play guitar to end this football day. Kala didnt play with his hand also.
I could have swore it was an offside but it looks like it wasn't.
If the ball is passed to the player who was previously in offside position by an opponent, it counts as a whole new action and it's not offside. If someone from Juve passed the ball to Trez and he wasn't in offside then but was offside at the first pass, then it would have been offside ( kinda like Siena-Milan. If Kaladze touched the ball it wouldn't have been offside, but since he didn't touch it the ref had to call offside and disallow Maccarone's goal)
So, Mrki, i'm so sorry.... but it was a good call :)
I'm watching RAI DUE show tonight. Those experts will know for sure
Edit: But i have to add that i completely disagree with this rule. Trezeguet benifits from being offside and it's not right nor fair.
But who cares. 93rd minute winner in the derby. We're still the kings when concentration and stability are concerned.
The team plays crap, though :)
RobyKikic

no offside. Juve got their 3 points fair.
no offside. Juve got their 3 points fair.
The ref expert on RAI DUE confirmed it was a regular goal. According to him this is not offside because Trez is absolutely not involved in the game until the Torino defender passed the ball to him.
Torino's president claimed it was an offside but this ref expert guy together with Capello and few others shut his mouth :)
The ref explained how this is a complex rule and that those who understand the rule will all agree that this was a regular goal.
Torino's president wasn't convinced though but admitted that the experts know more than he does about offside rules.
It was an offside, come on...!!! what the hell is wrong with this league???!!! **** this, im going to play guitar to end this football day. Kala didnt play with his hand also.
A Torino player got the last touch so it wasn't offside.

Wow I never knew that..I guess one learns something new every day ay?
Wow I never knew that..I guess one learns something new every day ay?
Channel4 also agree it was a regular goal, although they don't explain it well :
"A misplaced back-header from Dellafiore looped into the air and Trez hit a fantastic volley from the edge of the area to give Juventus the lead! He was offside on the first pass, but as the eventual assist came from a Toro defender, he was kept in play."
Looks like everytime an opponent passes the ball to the guy who was offside, the offside rule doesn't count and game goes on.
That's why there was misunderstanding for Maccarone's goal vs Milan. If Kaladze touched the ball it would have been a regular goal even though Maccarone was in offside at first. But since Kala didn't touch that ball, the ref made a mistake for allowing that goal.
And tonight the defender didn't just touch the ball. He tried to clear it but instead of heading it forwards he headed it backwards to Trez which counts as a pass. Pass by an opponent cannot be offside even if Trez was offside when Almiron passed the ball.
Ok then, but the rule is still wrong as those players that stay in "passive" offside still influence the opsitioning of the defnders and GK.
But 3 points go to Juve and we are crap.
But 3 points go to Juve and we are crap.
We're crap also.
Except for the match against Reggina and the last 20 minutes against Livorno, Juve were awful.
Some huge lack, huge motivation and unhuman efforts are keeping Juve at the top after 6 rounds.
But there is a big difference in quality between Milan and Juve so sooner or later the quality will win over motivation, it just has to. This is a long championship, it's not a 6 match tournament where a team can win only because of good tactics and big motivation ( Greece 2004). In long championships, the quality always wins.
Although, it may be too late for Milan. You'll gain more points than Juve at the end, but it will mean nothing to you if one of Inter/Roma wins the scudetto.
Unfortunately I dont see how Inter can be stoped. Even now they are missing Maicon, Materazzi, Vieira and Adriano is out of shape... Ibra is playing like a madman and their play is suited just for serie a. Like Juve had with Capello.
goal was clear... juve was/is crap...
those 2 facts combined with serieA top spot are freakin unbelievable!
goal was clear... juve was/is crap...
those 2 facts combined with serieA top spot are freakin unbelievable!
It was so easy back in Moggi days, don't you think ?
Moggi fixing the matches with the refs would have been a perfect explaination why is Juve above Milan in the standings.
It's so hard to find an excuse now :(
:zany:
P.S : Like i said Peters , there isn't a team more motivated than Juventus. They play with 101%.
Juve are light years away from the form and the quality they had in Lippi's or Capello's time but they are still better than 80% of serie A teams. And when you have a better team than Torino, Parma, Livorno, Genoa etc and when you are much more motivated to get the win than they are, it's not a surprise when Juve's beating these teams.
But the difference in quality will be shown as the league goes on and Juve will have to play against Inter, Milan, Fiorentina, Roma.
Things will come at the right place sooner or later and Juve will take it's rightful place for this year ( 4th or 5th) .
These wins against the small clubs are important only for winning the 4th place.
back in moggi days juve won easily early in the season and was helped out big time near the end... so i hope now its gonna be slightly different, merely good for win in beggining but sinking near the end. Thats how it should be :)

It is time for AC Milan to win points on Inter so we don't drop too far behind our city rivals. If we continue losing points to them it will be very difficult for us to recover the gap to Inter and Roma for that matter too.
I predict a draw with few goals against Lazio but my heart wants a victory to the Milan family.

I think assist of the month should be figo's to cordoba, what a majestic cross, it was basically perfect. Kaka's was worth of the award tho i must say. Any way i hate these breaks and they kind of annoy me waiting this long to see me inter play a game. Just means i get to watch more hockey (phil. Flyers).

quite a bit...
there is actually an nhl thread:
http://www.milanmania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16151&page=54&pp=15
somewhere in there, me and another member ( a flyers fan) went at it a little...
You ain't gonna like it, but boy it's so true (except for Legro's penalty. It was a fair call)
Juventus 'Deserve A Voice As Well...' Giuseppe Solinas writes: "As a member of numerous soccer forums I feel compelled to tell you that Goal.com is widely considered to be an anti-Juve platform. I'm not sure if that is the public opinion desired at Goal.com but in the spirit of journalistic objectivity I feel it is only fair to publish this editorial. Juventus' fanbase deserve a voice as well."
Goal.com would like to point out that it is neither pro nor anti any particular club, and that its journalists seek to be objective irrespective of their own club loyalties, which cover a broad spectrum (including Juventus). That said, we are happy to publish Giuseppe's article on perceived media bias against the Old Lady...
Juventus 'Deserve A Voice As Well...'
As a naturally inquisitive soccer fan I find it incomprehensible how limited certain fans can be. We are into the 7th matchday of Serie A and controversy has plagued the league already. It seems a certain soccer powerhouse cannot earn so much as a draw without being attacked by rival supporters.
The first element of confusion that still dumbfounds me is the idea (by now shared by very few) that Juventus were actually caught match fixing and sent to Serie B for that purpose. The actual Calciopoli sentence from the federal courts can be viewed by anyone on the FIGC's official website in the archive section where such a notion is completely dismantled by statements like:
- Pg 74-75 there was no "cupola" or "Moggi System"
- Pg 76 no proof article 6 violations (match fixing) against Juventus
- Pg 83 referee selections were done in accordance with the rules of the FIGC
- Pg 101 the yellow cards were not organized.
- Pg 61 states that Juventus was not responsible for the salvation of Fiorentina after the De Santis-influenced game between Lecce and Parma that finished in a tie allowing the Viola to survive in Serie A
This is the tip of the iceberg and I encourage anyone interested to view the sentence for themselves and email farsopoli@hotmail.com for further information including obtaining actual wiretaps and legal documents from the trial.
That is the past however. Looking at the present is just as puzzling. In the first 7 games of the Serie A season Juventus won two games by substantial margins (Livorno 5-1 and Reggina 4-0) and no slander appeared in the papers following the performances. The other game oddly left untouched by the media was Juventus's 1-0 loss to Udinese. All else has been the subject of criticism and constant attacks.
It astounds me that to even the most uninformed calcio fan, it seems possible that Juventus could be corrupting the system. Let's assume for the sake of argument that Juventus were cheaters in Calciopoli instead of cheated. After, we saw the player roster almost entirely changed, the coach changed, the financial situation changed, the managers changed, the referee designers changed as did the FIGC directors.
How could Juventus possibly have the capability of influencing anything? It also needs to be stated that Calciopoli cost Juventus nearly a quarter of a billion Euros; it seems highly illogical that upon their return to the top flight they would try to condition referees.
This has not stopped the Anti-Juventino population from carrying on the same tune we've all grown a little tired of. Well, let's look at what hasn't changed. Juventus have done well to take points off of favorites like Roma and Fiorentina. Juventus have positioned themselves comfortably in 2nd place. A Juventus striker has even positioned himself as the league's leading goal scorer. Just like before, Juve are doing well despite being in a rebuilding phase with numerous injuries. Another thing that hasn't changed is the media structure in Italy which has its base in the city of Milano.
It should come as no surprise that once again, the combination of Juventus doing well and the press having its base and ownership in direct unison with rival teams has led to a whole new season of the "same old excuses".
Astonishingly Juventus and her fans found themselves in a position of self defense in certain cases where being the accusers would have been more logical. Against Cagliari referee Farina called 3 very generous penalties against Juventus (with one finally overturned). Juventus nonetheless won 3-2 and were accused of benefitting from referee assistance after a Trezeguet
goal was allowed to stand. All replays showed an onside goal. No one questioned the penalties however.
Against Roma, Juventus were accused of referee favoritism again. Apparently, Nedved simulated for a penalty that was never scored (replays showed both leg contact and a push). Numerous offside calls were also contested by Roma and the press but what was cleverly not contested was the Roma offside that the referee allowed leading to a Totti goal.
Against Torino Trezeguet scored a goal that was again the subject of "offside" criticism. No one informed the press and Toro management of the pass back rule. Thankfully referee designer Collina clarified the issue. After all, managers can't just re-write the rules of the sport when they lose.
Against Fiorentina the team was again subjected to accusations. Iaquinta's goal was invalid according to critics based on Trezeguet's offside position. Though Trezeguet was in an offside position, FIFA rules dictate that unless Trezeguet was in direct obstruction of goalkeeper Frey, his position could not be penalized. All replays show Iaquinta's goal go in on the far side
while Frey was positioned wrongfully on the near side of the net rendering Trezeguet's position absolutely meaningless. With or without David's run, Frey would not have been capable of stopping the shot based on his position not Trezeguet's (which may be why he didn't even attempt a save).
That didn't stop the media parade from printing countless articles regarding the goal. The press did however succeed in distracting the public from the other episode in the game. Mutu leveled the game thanks to yet another generous penalty against the "Old Lady" in the 88th minute. Though arm contact cannot be disputed, FIFA rules require demonstration of deliberate
intent to award a penalty. Replays show that Legrotaglie's arms made no motion towards the ball and distance between the defender and Vieri did not allow Legrotaglie enough time to react and avoid the contact. A soft penalty to say the least.
Amazingly the two denied penalty shots against Udinese failed to meet the editor's approval for print. Similarly the disallowed Iaquinta equalizer (same game) for a foul by Del Piero meters away from the play didn't make the cut either. A trend can be noted and those who need to buy into the excuses are not about to relinquish their crutch.
Unfortunately it has become apparent that every game that results in a Juventus draw or narrow victory will be followed by a week's worth of accusations and excuses which says a lot for sportsmanship and humility in the calcio world. Worse yet is the fact that no matter how many decisions wrongfully go against Juventus neither the team nor the fans will likely find a platform to express discontent. Maybe objectivity is better suited for other sports.

Opinions anyone ? But argumented, please !

I don't know about that...Trez ran straight across Frey's line of sight. If that's not direct obstruction then they may as well just throw the rule straight out the window.

absolutely true on this one, no wonder frey was so pissed. You would figure he probbably knows about the rule so i dought he would go all out and argue about it if trez didnt' affect his sight or concentration.
I don't know about that...Trez ran straight across Frey's line of sight. If that's not direct obstruction then they may as well just throw the rule straight out the window.
It was offside for sure, if we follow the rule. Many goals have been disallowed because of this rule (the most famous one was Sheva's against Juve in Old Traford final).
But these words were actually said by Collina, not by the author of the text. If you look at the goal carefully you'll see that Frey had no chance to catch that ball and when they've shown it from many angles it was clear that :
1. At the time when the shot was taken Trez wasn't in front of Frey
2. Frey had 0% chances to save that shot.
But if it's a rule it must be a rule and they can't interpret it the way they like. Either get rid of this rule or disallow every such goal.
As for the last post. Violas players, noone, not even Frey, didn't protest at all. Just watch the goal. They were pissed of only after the match when they saw the replays.
From Collina's words it was obvious he is against this rule. But he and his men are the one who must follow it.

Cribari Slams Press Treatment Of Muslera
Lazio defender Sanchez Cribari has issued a staunch defence of goalkeeper Fernando Muslera after the press lambasted the youngster for his horror-show against Milan.
The Biancocelesti were humiliated on Sunday night by the European Champions, going down 5-1 at the Stadio Olimpico. Muslera was arguably at fault for four of these goals.
In the first half he was lobbed by Massimo Ambrosini from the most bizarre of angles, before then conceding a penalty from which Kaka scored.
In the second-period he was beaten at his near-post by the Brazilian for the third goal, and then was guilty of letting Alberto Gilardino shoot through his legs for Milan’s fourth.
Muslera has received a panning in the Italian press since the game, but Cribari is standing behind the 21-year-old custodian.
“It is not nice to read some of the things that have been said about Muslera,” said Cribari.
“I do not want to be his lawyer, but the boy has just arrived at the club. He does not speak Italian and he still has not found a house.
“Certainly he committed some mistakes but to pour all the blame onto him is unjust. You risk destroying the boy before his career has even begun.
“The blame for Sunday rests with the whole team, with the defence, beginning with me. You certainly cannot only blame him.”

Reggina-Inter 0:1 HT
Inter 0 chances 1 goal, Reggina 3 great chances 0 goals. Really bad weather in Calabria, with lots of rain. There is especially too much water in Inter's box.
Reggina had the control, created chances with ease but Toldo was MOM in the first half. Inter's defense was not existant in the opening 45 minutes.
Inter were really bad (Ibra on the bench) but they had the luck everybody to misjudge the fall of the ball from Figo's FK, so Figo scored even though his idea wasn't to score directly from the FK (according to the director of the broadcast, Adriano touched the ball, but it didn't look like it)
I expect Reggina to fall in the 2nd half and Inter to finish the job.
I hope not :)
Serie A is unwatchable anymore.
If you could see the penalty given against Juve tonight. The ref will be suspended, no doubt. When even the Napoli commentator laughs at the penalty, you get the picture.
And another unexistant penalty against Juve.
That's it, this is now indeed official that refs are against Juve.
I'm not moaning over nothing.
Team with most yellow cards in Serie A : Juve
Team with most red cards in serie A : Juve
Team with most penalties against : Juventus
4 out of 5 dubious penalties and 2 of them 100% crazy and unexistant.
They sent Juve to B, what else do they want ?
Tony I just read the report on Channel 4, is it worse than it sounds?
Sorry for spamming :)
Napoli defeated Juventus 3-1 in a spectacular game at the San Paolo, but it was extremely controversial with two terrible penalty decisions.
Zalayeta flicked back for Lavezzi and Chiellini performed a fantastic tackle to pluck the ball off his foot. However, the referee insisted it was a penalty
Juve readjusted to a 4-4-2, but referee Bergonzi awarded another penalty against them. Zalayeta blatantly dived over former teammate Buffon, who came sliding out to close him down, but once again the official made the wrong decision

----------------
You may laugh at me as a fan of a team that used to cheat but i'm 100% sure that such blatant cheating was never done by Juve. What happened tonight was a perfect proof that post-Calciopoli serie A is much worse and irregular than pre-Calciopoli.
Don't you find it strange that the two greatest teams in the league are the ones who suffer the most from referees decissions ?
I'm mad and i'm out :)
Tony I just read the report on Channel 4, is it worse than it sounds?
Incredibile. I haven't seen something similar to this. The ref was even giving clear outs to Napoli after one of them would have kicked the ball out of the field.
This match was fixed without any doubts. It will be a huge scandal, especially since Gazzetta is now Juve's sponsor.
And another thing. There was no live broadcast, except on Sky Sport 1.
Noone, from the ones who had the rights for serie A was allowed to broadcast this match. I know that the TV in this country never ever missed a live broadcast on Saturday night and this time they didn't show this match. The same happened all over the world. Only SkySport 1 were allowed to broadcast.
Strange , isn't it ? No broadcast and amazing ref mistakes.
It is rather interesting as I couldn't catch the match on any channel and after reading the report I do feel that Juve have been hard done by, the only team that always seems to get the refs call and never against is Inter.
I will have to watch the penalty claims myself to judge though.

For the second penalty we can argue that Zalayeta dived to prevent himself from a faul by Buffon. He dived without any doubts. Jumped and felt without being touched. But we can maybe say that he dived to avoid a contact with Buffon.
But the first one was...oh boy. World class tackle by Chiellini on the ball and the ref is so cool and points at the spot.
But this is only a small piece of what was happening during the match. I'm shocked how Juve players (especially Chiellini who was mad like never) didn't attack the ref and get a red card or two.

Serie A is unwatchable anymore.
.
Serie a is actually unwatchable in the past 20 years, but we as fans still dont care. Juve and Milan did the same thing over and over again... we didnt care. now it hurts...well, tough luck for us Tony!
This isnt becouse refs 2hate" Juve, the scudetto is decided, it happened when Silvio lost the elections.
At times Juve masacrated Bologna, Parma, it was disgusting to watch. Scoring at Siena 3 goals in 15 minutes, Siena players falling down on the field like sick persons... Raggina beating Milan every time they need points... Moggi/Juve having most of the players that play in serie a in their possesion and so on...
Screw it! Now its Inters time if we play that game, be fair people!
Nope Mrki, it's not fair.
Juve are still the official cheaters even though, if we sumarize everything, we've been cheated a lot more than we cheated.
For the last 2 years i've seen so many scandalous decisions against Juve and i'm sure that if you count all the decisions in Juve's favor for the last 20 years it will be less than the decisions against them in the last two years.
Juve were in serie B (to me still not deserved relegation, at least according to the prooofs they had) where we were getting red cards, penalties against us, even when we played teams that passed the midfield only once in 90 minutes.
This time in serie A people are still watching to see how refs will favour Juve, while the oposite is happening time and time again.
9 matches Mrki.... 5 penalties against us (i'll give you links of today's ones and please remember the penalties against Cagliari) , 3 red cards and 27 yellow cards.... more than against any single team in Italy.... and what hurts me is that more than half of these were extremely bad calls.
Fans can't take it anymore. I'm happy to see that even the media isn't quiet anymore. Ranieri, who never got a red card in his life, couldn't take it and he was red carded. We have 3 players who missed a match only because they acumulated 4 yellow cards.
Ok, someone who wasn't watching can say : Maybe Juve play dirty and faul a lot, but that's simply not true.
Cagliari were given two extremely dubious penalties and Zebina was red carded for nothing on that match.
Udinese scored their goal from offside
Totti scored a goal from clear offside
Ranieri gets a red card for yelling from distance at the ref (mind you, the always calm Ranieri lost his mind because that ref was plain awful)
Nedved got a red card for what ? "Elbowing an opponent after the final whistle"
These two penalties for Napoli (the commentators were screaming "Mama mia" when they saw what kind of penalties this ref gave)
And the yellow cards Juve get...oh boy... 70% of them were as justified as Buffon's yellow from tonight.
Calciopoli was about cleaning Italian football, no ? Nope, it wasn't about that. And Juve weren't relegated because they cheated. It was simply a war for power.
Anyway, here you can see the penalties (watch full video) :

Well just imagine this, going on for the next few seasons, and even imagine Juve being level on points with Inter and 3 rounds to go and Inter get disastrous penalties given in their favour, only for them to go on and win the scudetto.
Part of me hopes that this goes away to have clean football, but I cant denie another part of me wants this to go on for at least a season so they know what it feels like. Besides, you are very very biased when talking about all those calls. Do not forget that decisions have even gone your way like the Del Piero goal that was offside, and that goal were Trezeguet was offside was in the way of the keeper. I dont really think its been much worser for you than it has been for us. Just that all the 50-50 calls in the Juve games are actually now going 50-50 you guys feel as if you've been robbed.
Nope Mrki, it's not fair.

Those 2 penaltys where a absolute joke, but i'm with you on this. Considering not only the penaltys Juve got, but especially many goals they scored being offside. Things like; Chievo scoring with the ball obvisouly behind the goalline and the goals still not given. The italian football is just a mess. Now Juventus happends to be the victim.. ( altho, i also think Milan's gonna get alot of bad calls against them this season if it wasn't for our own bad play )

I want Juve to win. I am keeping my hopes alive for the scudetto. :5ok: If Inter lose then we move to 8 points behind the lead. It is 3 full games behind however 2 of those games can be against Inter. The biggest thing that I am concerned with right now though is Milan stringing some wins together. If we can win 4-5 in a row then we will be right back in it and it will be a very heated derby in December. :diablo:
We need to hope that inter doesnt win this one, the season is long, and if we play better in the second part of the season, and in this part we dont let the gap widen even more, we have a chance. Draw would be ok as then we'd go 9 behind Inter and 5 from Juve. Which is a lot but we still have a chance.

Juve winning means they're in with a shot of the scudetto and I would rather Inter won the scudetto than Juve any day of the week. If Inter win we close the gap to 4th place. I think that's the best we can hope for domestically this season unless Berlusconi goes crazy in January.

Crazy crazy crazy first half for Palermo-Napoli. Very very entertaining, and it could have easily been 3-3. Palermo hit the post twice and had a few other golden chances, and Fontana had two great saves against Napoli. Napoli is really such a good team, I am really impressed with them. Gargano, Lavezzi, Hamsik are all class, but I noticed someone else today, their RB - Carics. I hope they win today, they have so much character for a team that just came from Serie B.
BREAKING NEWS: INTER-LAZIO OFF
Inter-Lazio has been called off after the tragic death of a Biancocelesti supporter. The other Serie A games are going ahead, but 15 minutes late.
This morning at around 9.00 local time a group of Lazio Ultras attacked a small number of Juventus supporters at a motorway service station in Badia al Pino, Arezzo.
The Bianconeri appealed to a passing police car for help and in the ensuing melee a shot was fired, killing one of the Lazio fans. It is believed the shot went off by accident.
The victim has been named as 26-year-old Gabriele Sandri, a famous DJ in the Rome area who was also well known to members of the Lazio squad and staff.
As San Siro was emptied, Lazio staff members were seen walking away in tears after discovering the name of the slain supporter.
Inter-Lazio has now officially been called off, while the other Serie A games will begin 15 minutes late as a sign of mourning.
There are fears the way this incident played out means fans around Italy will increase the tension against the police and there have already been clashes in Bergamo between Atalanta Ultras and the authorities.
Fans around the country are removing their banners from the stadiums in a sign of mourning and protest.

Well, they're only five points out of the race, so Roma could definitely move into the catbird's seat should Inter slip up, but given the fact that Inter have a stranglehold on Serie A also off the pitch as well as on it, that may not happen.

Can't believe the position we are in right now, a few weeks back, it was an eleven point cusion, now it's 4 freakin points!
Only Mancio could do this :wallbang:
Yeah, those bitter words after the CL exit are not the ones you expect to hear from your coach. But after all, as a Milanisti, I would'nt complaint about that ;)
I have been calling for his removal since the 2005-2006 season, the man needs more experience, we deserve a better coach, especially now
You said you've been calling for his removal since 2005/2006. But why did you put the 2006/2007 scudetto thing in your signature then?
But again, as a Milanisti, I really support Mancini as your coach. His comments make me laugh, and a laughter is always good for health :)
I put it in my sig because Inter won the scudetto
what does that have to do with me wanting him to leave?
really.. it's kinda pathetic when we have to cheer for other team in Italy but not Milan (in this case is Roma). i am not saying that Milan should wins every title (but good if it's true :tong: ) but at least we should competes to it not just be a mediocre club who watches TOP 3 in the table battles for it :rollani: Milan should do better next season so we don't have to cheer for Roma,Juve,Lazio,Fiorentina or whoever will competes with Merda next season.but Merda lost against Juve is one good news for me.i bet Juve fans now sings: "who stole the scudetto from us ?" :D (even kinda not fair enough to sing that considering Merda looks like a mighty team in Serie A this year). now Roma just 4 pts behind Merda.my millions thanks for Mancini who gave "i will quit" statement (even he edited that already but the whistle has been blown) and made Merda performance struggling now :D i am glad for this condition but i feel myself pitty :stress:

If you've been wanting him to leave since a year before, why did you put it in your sig anyway? That scudetto you're mentioning was won under Mancini. Can you dig my point?

Can Lazio slow Inter down next week? I wouldn't bet on it..
