he says it was a decision already made, and not a sudden one after the elimination from UCL... but...

do you think he would have said this if they had scored 3 goals and moved to the next round????

I think you are right, pretty sure it was always going to be one of the 3 possible places so Inter it seems it is. If Mancini is a whiner then imagine Mourinho's press conferences when Inter lose or refs do something ;)

Probably not, and I don't understand why he says it when the team most needed him.

Guys, are you aware that this defeat can affect Inter performances in Serie A as well?

Imagine another May 5th...

Such a shame Inter-Milan is the 36th round and not the last, 38th, round.
That could have been very special for you :)

good thing out of this is that inter will have to adapt to next tactics and a new boss next season. Not a great thing that it could be Mourinho, Belusconi has the chance to spend and get our squad competing with Inter next year.

Perhaps he grew tired of it. Mancini is like a lavatory there, but at least a real lavatory has only to deal with one a$sh0le at a time :ilol:

I was so happy. It was if a rain of purple rain was falling on my chins. And then a sigh of relief.

Inter can now get in trouble. Trouble with Roma for Scudetto.

I'm... Delighted.

I knew he wasnt going to quit, today he said that he's staying next year to win the CL hahaha, poor guy he's going to have to stay a bit more than one year if he wants to win the CL!

Just adds farcical value to Inter, he had already made the decision before the game but one day after its public he has held talks and changed his mind?

Well, forget about it. He's signing a new 10.5 m euro per year contract with Inter and this will make him the highest paid serie A player.

And they won't let him go to Milan even if you offer them Kaka+Pirlo in return

For a moment i was lost. I was thinking to open a petition to ask Merdatti to keep Mancio. But at the moment we're safe...

"Nobody can understand more than President Moratti, the Inter fans and our entire squad what it feels like to miss out on an objective we cared about a great deal," said Mancini in an official statement released by the club.

"I hope that all those who experience football understand the need to vent frustration and bitterness in such delicate moments.

"A Coach is always the focus point for the group, but that group feeds on deeper emotions than that. After the game I spoke from the heart and the love of Roberto Mancini, Coach.

"I thank President Moratti for having given me strength, understood the moment and where I was coming from.

"I am sorry for the misunderstandings that may have come from that. The team already knows - we are ready to fight until the last minute with great intensity to conquer our third Scudetto and the Champions League right from next season.

"Finally, I would like to thank the extraordinary Nerazzurri fans who supported us until the final whistle and beyond last night, applauding as we walked off the pitch."

I have played football since 1996. And this statement has nothing do with football. This has to do with your own anger against yourself.

An anger you are channeling through your football.

I have always been a fan of a clean sport. At least I can say that I only received 2 yellow cards in my football career.

Calcio Debate: Has Mancini Lost The Inter Dressing-Room?

In the aftermath of Roberto Mancini’s sensational u-turn decision to stay on at Inter, Carlo Garganese asks whether the coach has ‘lost’ the Nerazzurri dressing room.
A number of theories have been put forward as to why Roberto Mancini suddenly decided to announce his departure on Tuesday night: disappointment and guilt over another Champions League failure, inside knowledge that Massimo Moratti was lining up Jose Mourinho or Rafa Benitez as his replacement, or even a moment of emotional post-match weakness.

Another hypothesis is that Robert Mancini simply realised that he had lost the Inter dressing room.

The Corriere della Sera yesterday claimed that Moratti, and Inter directors Marco Branca and Gabriele Oriali were locked in the changing room with Mancini, following his bombshell, attempting to convince the coach to stay on. Mancini, who was close to tears, explained that the pressure from within the club was too much for him to handle.

Figo

Mancini and Figo have never had the closest of relationships and have clashed on a number of occasions over the past three seasons. Things hit rock-bottom on Tuesday night when the Portuguese veteran reportedly refused to come on as a second-half substitute against Liverpool. Figo, angry that he was not introduced long before Fernando Torres’ tie-clincher, pretended not to hear Mancini’s calls from the touchline. At the final whistle the 35-year-old left the stadium immediately, without uttering a word, or even offering any eye contact to journalists.

Vieira

Vieira’s rapport with Mancini has been even more fractious. The Frenchman’s clear animosity towards his boss was demonstrated during the recent Serie A game at Sampdoria when after being substituted on 81 minutes, he refused to shake Mancini’s hand, blew his nose out on the floor, before kicking a cluster of water bottles. On Tuesday night against Liverpool Vieira displayed a similar reaction, as he was clearly disgusted at being replaced late in the game.

Crespo

Another player who evidently does not have Mancini on his Christmas card list is Hernan Crespo. The Argentine publicly slammed his boss last month for a lack of action that has seen make just 13 appearances in Serie A this season.

"I've been generous enough for seven months in trying to hide my sadness at this unusual situation,” Crespo said after a rare start against Livorno.

"It's not my team-mates' fault, so I've been careful not to behave in a way that could upset them.

"He [Mancini] says I'll be there when it matters? I hit my involvement record for the season today - 85 minutes of a match. What a shame it's already February," the Argentine concluded sarcastically.

Adriano

Adriano may have his troubles at the moment, but this does not disguise the fact that the striker clearly feels mistreated by Mancini. The Brazilian has made a number of comments since he joined Sao Paulo on-loan, in which he has criticised the Inter coach. Meanwhile earlier in the season Adriano also refused to shake Mancio’s hand after being substituted during the game with Reggina.

Of course players never like being replaced, but can you ever imagine a player from Arsenal or Manchester United refusing to shake Arsene Wenger or Alex Ferguson’s hand? This is partly due to the difference between the Anglo-Saxon and the hot-blooded Mediterranean/Latin culture, but it is also perhaps down to a lack of respect towards Mancini from not just one, but a number of his players.

Camp Split In Two?

Rumours persist that the Inter camp is split into two between players who are in favour of Mancini staying, and those who want him to leave. Dejan Stankovic and Christian Chivu are his allies, while Figo, Vieira and Crespo are his main enemies.

The shortage of Inter players, Stankovic was one of the exceptions, who came out publicly and offered Mancini support once he had announced his intention to quit, certainly suggests that he doesn't have too many allies within the club.

Non-Playing Staff

The in-fighting at Inter is not restricted solely to the playing staff. Mancini has come out and attacked the medical team, in particular Doctor Franco Combi, for the numerous injuries suffered by Nerazzurri players this season. Moratti has attempted to diffuse the tension, but only last week admitted that the whole situation was becoming embarrassing. Mancini was also said to have been furious after the club ignored his demand to postpone the centenary celebration party on Sunday until after the Liverpool game.

Too Many Strong Personalties?

Could it be that there are simply too many strong personalities in the Inter dressing room to handle? Marcello Lippi, one of the greatest coaches in modern times, once explained this as one of the main reasons for his failure at the club, while Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti said several weeks ago:

“Inter are full of top-class players and it is not easy to manage a dressing room full of great players with strong personalities."

Marco Materazzi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic (who themselves had a reported falling-out), Vieira, Figo, Crespo – the list goes on and on of these kinds of characters.

What is certain is that Inter’s public image in recent weeks has not been good at all, and there is no doubt whatsoever that this has been a factor in the squad’s extremely poor form.

What are your views on this topic? Has Mancini lost the Inter dressing room? Is the club split into two between supporters and enemies of the coach? Is this harming the club? Goal.com wants to know what YOU think
