Grosso needs to be there...He has never been a great player for the club, and an amazing player for the NT mainly due to Pirlo exploits.

I`d pick grosso over santon and antonini anyday..and believe me so will Lippi.

I think it's vital that Totti returns, Nesta doesn't want to return but can play a big role if he's back.

I also think Marchisio must start for Italy, he is a fantastic player. Another player I think that could be of great use to Italy is West Ham's Alessandro Diamante but Lippi already set his mind on Juventino Antonio Candreva. Gattuso does not deserve to go ahead of Ambrosini and Aquilani has done nothing to earn that spot either. I'd like to see Camoranesi selected.

I also think Lippi is damn annoying when he ignores Cassano and Miccoli, but it's just a crime how Iaquinta, Quagliarella are given the nod ahead of Balotelli and Boriello. I really hope he selects Balotelli, that guy could be the missing piece of the puzzle. G. Rossi is over rated but he is more useful than Quagliarella, Iaquinta and Di Natale. Gila also should make it regardless of how bad his form is.

In the defence I say he should start with Grosso and try out Antonini in some friendlies, he could just surprise everyone. In defence: Cannavaro, Chiellini, Gamberini, Bonucci should get the nod. Right back there's Zambrotta and Masiello (Bari).

there was an interview on the telegraph Podcast with the goalkeeper coach for the azzurri and he said the perfect mix to take to the tournament is the first choice (Buffon) then you need somebody who is a different type of goalkeeper as reserve like De Sanctis, Marchetti or Amelia and one kid to learn what the big tournaments are like so he can make the step up to reserve and wont be phased my the moment.

I think the squad consists of 23 not 25 players. So here is my list:

Goalkeepers: Buffon, Marchetti, Abbiati.

Wide Defenders: Zambrotta, Grosso, Santon.

Central Defenders: Cannavaro, Chiellini, Bonnuci, Gamberini (If he fails to get fit in time for the World cup then Bocchetti is the best bet as his replacement)

Midfielders: Camoranesi, Di Natale

Central Midfielders :Pirlo, De Rossi, Palombo, Marchisio, Gattuso, Montolivo, Totti (If he refuses to come out of retirement then I would pick D'Agostino)

Strikers: Gilardino, Pazzini, Rossi, Iaquinta
